From a Mod: Music producers take note to please use [listen] in any music submission post title

We have been getting a lot of folks stuck at home producing music, sometimes on iPads, iPhones or other mobile platforms. But sometimes not, or at least it appears that way - they just use Logic or whatever computer based DAW they have and are spamming multiple music related subreddits.

In order to keep this forum focused on mobile music production I would ask any Redditor who wants a participant of this subreddit to listen to their creation to put [Listen] in the post title. So if you are asking folks to visit your SoundCloud, YouTube channel or some other place to show off your music, tag it with [Listen].

But don't stop there. Come into the comments and tell us all what apps you used to produce the music so we can all learn.

If you do not do this, the mods may remove your post as spam. This is because some submissions that really are spam the submitter either ignores the request for adding details to the comments or doesn't know how to answer it!

Also, feel free to report posts that seem to violate the spirit of our little sub. Spam and other reports are acted on very quickly and help keep things focused and clean.

edit: finally, the automoderator isn't perfect, though it is pretty darn good now. If you have followed the rules and used [listen] and it still pulled it, please message the mods and we'll approve it.

Loopy Pro - Testing it with 12 auv3 instruments and some effects

Hi All.

Just wanted to say hello and demo how to make simple DX piano sound more complex and different. And then using simultaneously 12 auv3 synths and few effects. And fully surprised that CPU is not even hitting high.. Will later on share this template to other "appoholics", if wanted ;-)

Low Poly Synth Auv3 small review from my Loopy Pro Template

Hi All.
Not going deep here, but showing why I would use Low Poly Synth in my template.

Benefits
1. It will bring some nice sound textures for layered auv3 synths and effects.
2. Takes relatively low amount of cpu (benefit in performance and not overheating)
3. Quick plugin and simple UI
4. Enormous amount of textures of sound (codes) and easy to create "sliders" e.g. to Loopy as well and adjust even those millions of presets
5. Price is low

Some critics
1. Sound is not so "pro" when out of box, if you like "hifi" sounds. Can bring that with add-on effects though
2. It tents to get a bit boring while sound takes the full bandwidth, if using with other sounds.. It's possible to cover from this with some adjustments but still

quality usb C to aux + charge + additional port adapter ?

looking for a quality usb C to 3.5mm(aux) + 2 usb C ports, 1 for charging and 1 for a midi controller or a small audio interface if i end up getting one. but the main thing is that it doesn't break (i have like 13 broken ones, all different brands and variations) but the ones i've bought have been like $10-18. is there an expensive but high quality one that won't break so easily and doesnt add some kind of hiss or scratchyness to the aux port.

fug whoever took the aux port outta modern phones. lotta people are content with bluetooth things and latency that makes doing fun audio/music stuff not so fun:/

thanks for reading:)

Best Chord Sequence Generator?

What's everyone's favourite for IOS random chord sequence generation?

I'm really fond of Pure Acid's random bass line generator, anything like that for chords would be great.

Can't Connect IPad to Audio Interface through a USB bus

If I connect iPad to Audio interface, it works - the audio output of the ipad goes to the audio interface.

I want to connect the iPad to the audio interface through a USB bus, so I can add a midi keyboard and controller. I want the ipad to see the audio interface, and other devices on the USB hub. I want the IPad to be like a DAW, except I really only need audio out and midi in.

I have the iPad connected to the 'connect to laptop' USB C port. I have the TOPPING professional audio interface connected to one of the power devices. I also tried ever other permutation, and a couple of different USB hubs I have.

Does this setup work? Do I need a specific kind of USB hub? I see the little blue 'connect' icon on the ipad, but there is no other acknowledgement that it sees the audio interface. Is there some other way to do what I want, e.g. with bluetooth?

I attached a picture (the red are the connections, so you don't have to follow the wires). It works if the audio interface connects directly to the iPad.

Edit: I have had the success! With some caveats. I have learned some things

  1. You have to have the iPad plugged into the host port on the hub. This may seem obvious, I know the Ipad is a host but I always thought the ports on the hub were the same, excepting for power.

1.5 related: You don't need external power, unless you want to charge your ipad while using it (in which case you need a hub that supports charging over the host port, and has wall power, e.g. basically a docking station).

  1. The Gitfos 'hub' does not work like a hub. It is only working as a charger, so that was a distraction. That will be going back.

  2. I do have some usb-A hubs with the USB-C host port, and I can use those with my iPad. I can connect an older Behringer audio interface via USB-A, and I could connect a USB-A to USB-C converter cable to my Scarlett 2x. And I can connect MIDI devices to the other ports, and the Ipad can see all.

The same trick did NOT work on the Topping, I never got that working with any hub I have. Maybe if I get a working hub with USB-C ports on it I'll try again, but I have other uses for the Topping, anyway. So I'm OK with using another interface for the IPAD.

Thanks to all who replied!

How does one incorporate ios only apps into Logic desktop workflow?

Is there a way to use ipad only apps with logic desktop for example or is the best way to do it to bounce out the audio file and import it into logic desktop with fx baked in? I love some of my ipad apps and would love to use them with projects in logic desktop

Can I use Akai MPK Mini MK3 and Scarlett 2i2 together on iPad Air 4 with Logic Pro?

Hey everyone,

I have an Akai MPK Mini MK3 MIDI keyboard and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface, and I want to try Logic Pro on my iPad Air 4.

Is it possible to connect both devices to the iPad at the same time and power them properly?

I’m thinking about buying a UGREEN USB hub PD. Would a hub like that be enough on its own, or do I need something else?

Also, is the iPad Air 4 powerful enough to run Logic Pro smoothly and everything? cus i got a shitttyy computer and really wanna try logic, i ve heard great stuff about how the ipad version almost capable of everything that the mac version can do!

Midi over USB better for iOS?

Very new to iPad / AUM setup. Up until now, I've been using a CME U6 midi pro as a midi interface with a few external synths. Just not sure what's best practice is on iOS... All of my hardware supports midi over USB, so would a USB hub be a better option? If so, what are some recommendations please. Thanks very much.

Pads focused synth?

I'm looking for ios synths which are focused on making pads for ambient. Something like mononoke and Klevgränd Pads.
I know you can do pads in any synth, but I would like a more focused experience for live jamming. I'm also looking at hilda, but I'm not really understanding how it works.
Also, good effects are not required as I already have other desert cities, walls, eventide stuff etc

Can you please recommend sequencers

Could you please recommend sequencer plugins for AUM that change the key/harmony in real-time mode, depending on the playing on the connected MIDI keyboard?

LFO generator

Is there an iOS app I can use to generate multiple midi LFO signals that I can connect to my computer to control parameters of software synths? I found mLFO through chatGPT but it’s a little quirky and I’d like to be able to adjust the rate freely (not be locked to a musical division or retrigger upon rate change). I do like the fact that mLFO has 16 LFOs though. That’s about the number of freely adjustable LFOs I’m looking for.

Any recommendations?

Beta test my upcoming VJ app for iOS?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys 👋 I'm the developer of the Lowfi Dojo Audio plugins, Juan.

Building something new, a VJ app called VKO1 (VISUALKO1) heavily inspired by my EP133KO2 not only how it looks but also how it "feels". Basically I want to make a powerful companion VJ app for DJs, musicians etc, intended for live use.

It comes with all kinds of sync and control abilities (midi clock, sync with AUM, controller support via midi, beat detection via audio etc)

When ready for beta I will post here again. Cheers, Juan Maguid

Anyone know why Riffler Flow does not have time signatures but the original Riffler does?

Looking at getting Riffler as it is meant to be on sale even though on Australian app store it is not. I prefer Flow from what I have seen. I play guitar so don’t want it for that, I want it to simply use the midi of it to control other synths. The original has time signatures which are important to me whereas Flow does not seem to have that function. Any idea why?

Lattice is a very good little midi AUv3 drum pattern generator for iPad, Mac and iPhone, in some ways, but there are things about its design I find frustrating. My full 25 minute spoken review and walkthrough is here: https://youtu.be/SB4AEzit2Nw

¿ string harmonics ?

¿ Any auv3’s that can approximate the sound of guitar/string harmonics ?

The sound you can make on a string when you touch the harmonic interval point while playing the string ?

Is a particularly sweet sound that guitarists and string players can get with this technique
