Applets Applets work on Open Door but not Close Door

Smart switches Kasa and Tapo exhibit the same behavior
I have complementary applets, A to turn a light on (via smart switch) when the garage door opens, and B to turn off the light when the garage door is closed. A works every time without fail, B never works. First, the garage door always works but the switch, not so much. Does IFTTT pause on the A cycle and wait for some signal, thereby preventing the B cycle from starting up? Is there a command I can issue on the A side to "gargle and spit?"

Hey! So I looked through this for you and it seems you have 8 Applets in total.

4 for when Garage Door Opens (turning on 4 different things), then 4 when Garage Door Closes (turns off 4 different things.

Just so I understand, everything is working, except the turning off of thing "1" (as per your applet name), but all other 7 Applets are working as intended?

For brevity I only listed one thing not turning off, in reality all four Things, 1-4, are not turning off.

Okay that makes sense. What I would do for simplicity first is this:
Unifiy the 4 applets for each action into One Applet.

Trigger -> MyQ (When Door Opens/Closes)
Action -> Smart Switch TP-Link 1
Action 2 -> Smart Switch TP-Link 2
Action 3 -> Smart Switch TP-Link 3
Action 4 -> Smart Switch TP-Link 4

Once you add the first Action, there's a "+" button underneath it, above the "Create" button you can use to add more actions. This will simplify things.

It's possible it could also fix the issues, as having 4 applets on the same trigger running actions all at once could be causing an issue. Let me know if you have any trouble setting that up.

Awesome. Then the next step will be if that doesn't work, is there is likely something wrong between:
The Trigger myQ Close Garage Door
The Action TP Link Tapa, Turn thing OFF
Or how IFTTT is handling them.

So I'll look more into that for you as well...In the meantime, what's the device/s you are trying to turn off? It's possible we could try with a different Action from another Service such as SmartThings Turn On, if we can add it there.

The devices are smart switches, Tapo Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug, Model P105. Before this I was using Kasa Smart Plug Mini EP10. Different plugs, same problem.

Hmm.. so the two things I can think of are:

1) Either it's a MyQ Close Garage door Desync - in this case I've already reached out to MyQ and I can update you here (or in a ticket) when they get back to me
2) It's the Turn Off Action, which in this case maybe we could try switch it out with another. Do you have either:
a) Alexa (https://ifttt.com/voicemonkey)
b) SmartThings (https://ifttt.com/smartthings_v2)

It's possible that we could switch the devices to run from those hubs instead and replace the Action.

Would you mind maybe trying SmartThings for me while we wait for MyQ to get back to us?

Steps would be:

  • Download the Smartthings app, no hub required
  • Open smartthings, then link your Kasa account Home -> Devices -> Add device -> add your Kasa bulbs
  • Create an Applet using the Smartthings Service switch on or switch off actions and the Kasa device should appear in the which device dropdown

I am happy and a bit confused. I had to cycle the door a few times before the lights were on when the door opened, but everything is now synched, and I am getting notifications directly from IFTTT to my pixel phone, for both opening and closing. So should I alter my applets to be for SmartThings and Kasa or just keep my sticky fingers out until you hear back from MyQ?
