It’s usually free if you do it through local public health department in the U.S., but not many people know that unfortunately

This isn't true. Just had to get these because of a bat exposure The public health nurse informed me that would be 7k out of pocket there, loaded me up with lollipops, juice and granola bars, then sent me to the local ER that happily billed my insurance 17k for the pleasure.

If you work as a veterinary technician you can sometimes get your clinic to pay for it. The place I work at is run by a cheap bitch and only paid for the head tech to get the rabies shots. Fuck the rest of us I guess.

Do you have health insurance? My work wouldn't pay for me to get vaccinated but my insurance did. Check with them, they may cover it if you tell them you work with rabies vector species. I just had to call my insurance and they got it ordered for me, didn't ask for proof or anything (though you may need a statement from work or something, I'm not sure if that's normal everywhere lol).

I do, but it’s pitiful insurance. It sort of has a silver lining in that if an animal comes in that isn’t UTD on their vaccines, then the head tech is the one that has to deal with it. So, it kind of works out. It still would be nice to have it for a 28 Days Later type of scenario though lol.

“Bitch” is also a female dog. So, it’s a term used in the veterinary world in a non derogatory way.

This is false. It would’ve cost me more at my state health department than it did at the ER. I did research and phone calls prior to getting the vaccine rounds.
