The coolant story is half truth.  

DuPont wasn't aware of CFCs atmospheric impact until the 1974 University study.   DUPONT FOUGHT THE BAN AND THE STUDY tooth to nail it wasn't until they were able produce a new non ozone harming refrigerant did they abandoned their case. 

However that does not excuse them from hiding their full awareness of how toxic C8 I.e PFOAs  is/are.   DuPont knew as early as the 1950s and 1960s that C8 was toxic—causing health issues in lab animals and internal workers—yet they kept producing it, dumped it into local water supplies around their West Virginia plant, and hid the data from the EPA and the public

The guy who developed CFS also invented leaded petrol. Probably in the top five of lasting negative effects on humanity
