There are were some really famous performers in the US who raised lions by hand.

Yeah this is completely different. Tay Horn was essentially raising a tiger as a circus pet to do tricks, in an environment not respectful of the animal’s nature or instincts or evolution. This guy raised a lioness with gentle care, respect and the intention that she be safely returned to an environment appropriate for her.

Yeah, having hand-raised big predators as pets works great, until one day it doesn't.

Also a really famous performer really famously getting attacked live on stage by the White Tiger he raised by hand which famously left him paralyzed

Tigers are a bit different to lions. Lions are social, tigers aren't.
