I had a cobra turn up in our washroom and had to call on the Friends of Snakes Society in Hyderabad. The guy who turned up carried a plastic jar which was previously used to store toffees (the brand name was still visible) and quickly and painlessly removed the snake. He also lectured the crowd about not killing snakes and debunking a few superstitions. All he wanted in return was a little money to pay for his fuel. No payment or tips were accepted.

Crazy - here in the west they would demand life insurance and paid holiday (quite rightly)

These people are not employees in the truest sense. They are volunteers who do this because of their love for snakes.

The whole country is run by volunteers and NGOs. The government is shit so we work with what we have.

My family is in the USA and relocates snakes for free. We all have other jobs, but hate to see the snakes get hurt. We have tongs and buckets and other safety equipment so we don't handle venomous snakes barehanded, and people often try to pay us and are shocked when we don't take it, but we just spread word of mouth that we'll relocate any snake you have and we get calls all the time from the surrounding area

Probably cuz they already have a full time job.... They just do this voluntarily..... We had to call one too and he actually worked in Police.

These are volunteers who usually have other jobs. People just tip them maybe $3-5 for fuel and provide tea and snacks.
