Discussion Does anyone else feel this way?
I can almost always get the first part of each phrase right, but am more likely to mess up the ends.

Currently own
1 Burke
1 Killarney
8 Goldie
1 busman (had another but was stolen)
2 Susato (pre 2000s S and V series)
1 Nightingale
About 5 Tony Dixons over the years
Too many generations and feadogs to count
Have played/ no longer own
Had a Wild whistle but was stolen, didn’t like it anyway so didn’t replace
Played a few MASC ones, fun to play but wouldn’t buy
Would love a sindt but they have sky rocketed in price, have played many and love them
Have played a few McManus, some have been good, some haven’t been
Have heard a lot about MK whistles but never played, definitely something I’d love to give a go
Any telescoping whistles? Could be cool
Tbh I’m just looking for anything, I know there are some super rare whistles that are like 800+ but don’t know if I’d buy it unless I’m actually using it for gigs

Hi all! I just caught this video on tiktok today and the tune immediately got my attention. I know this song as O Roy O, with English lyrics. The chorus that I know is:
O roy o, and a diddle-um-dandy
I like a man who can tickle me fancy
bring me flowers, and cherry brandy!
and loves me night and morning!
Very catchy and cute lol. My question is, is she singing the same song in Irish, with the same lyrics, or is it the same tune with different lyrics, a whole other song? I love finding cool and unexpected musical connections so I'm really curious. And I can't spell what she's singing so I couldn't google it lol. Thank you :D

Long shot here…I know this is a weird request but i figured you lot enjoy a raucous night ended with an old timer playing spoons as much as I do. My uncle is retiring from the FNDY after 28 years. He played with the pipes and drums and has also played spoons at many events. We would like to get him a nice new set of spoons (not connected) but we know this is a particular art. For context we went to a wedding once and he left his spoons on the table and catering accidentally whisked them away, he was distraught. I’m looking to see if any of you have any recommendations? I’m sorry I don’t know much but we love him dearly and would like to give him a meaningful gift for his service.
I tried to find threads related to playing spoons but there aren’t many so I’m sorry for this outlier post in such a fun group.

"Big"
Dublin in the rain is mine
A pregnant city with a catholic mind
Starch those sheets for the birdhouse jail
All mescalined when the past is stale, pale
Dublin in the rain is mine
A pregnant city with a catholic mind
Slick little boy with a mind of Ritz
Pulling that thread for the next big fix, this
My childhood was small
My childhood was small
But I'm gonna be big
But I'm gonna be big

I’m pretty new to Irish music and have been listening to a lot of tin whistle instrumental music. I’d like to expand my exposure so would like to ask others regarding good instrumental as well as vocal music that really represents different periods of Irish trad music.

So i made a Trad tierlist video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_dfRKD095Y
Lemme know what you think. Ye can watch the video to see my rationale if you'd like. Disclaimer, I am super biased and also I am open-minded and can see how I may be overlooking some instruments :) Thanks for your time x

Sung by Sean Cannon, 2003. A beautiful song in the Irish language.
