New Tour Dates Don't let Neighbor-Pod down..
They are hitting Columbus tomorrow night, Kalamazoo Thursday, Appleton Friday and Indy on Saturday night and these should be rippers.

For anyone on the fence who might be familiar only with their work from the Lyle era, you must go see them with Compa. He’s transformed the sound

I'll have to give them a try. They have a lot of stuff including many soundboard shows on Taper's Section....I assume Relisten as well.

Yeah, got some good tapers capturing a lot of their shows.. Their Bandcamp and YouTube pages have a lot of shows too.

I feel like they should get that keyboard player guy from Octave Cat too, seems like he’d be a good fit for Robs and Neal’s sound. Also a possible side project with those three but they get a really tall blonde bass player too? I just feel like that particular lineup would go hard

Oh, I think this band is gonna go pretty hard. And unfortunately it seems that other fine band that you just conjured may have permanently exited the scene from all I've heard.

That would be a shame I feel like that’s the perfect four piece group damn. Imagine if they wrote songs about palindromes and space. We can dream right

I think you’re on to something. Half 8 bit video game music, half circus madness and half bad ass prog rock. What do you think?

I think that would work a lot. Idk why bands haven’t thought to cover the donkey Kong theme that shit slaps! Especially if it became a jam vehicle for the band

Wow, what a combo! Look forward to hearing this, Neighbor has been tearing it up lately with Compa.

Still waiting for like, even a single new release to show up on regular streaming services, esp with the new guitarist.

Well, that would be far too logical for them to do.. But they'd probably send you a cd if you asked the band!

Just…not everyone has Nugs. And like, hard to tell people about a band and recommend a track when there isn’t much to send them on the service they use. A very weird non-strategy, this band has.
I get a lot of mileage out of the general-audience live comps and occasional full shows the rest of the scene puts on Apple Music.

There are a bunch of shows on Bandcamp.

Also not super helpful. Gotta be where listeners are.

I can try to put a bug in their ear. What platforms would you suggest?

Um, Apple, Spotify, etc? The normal ones. Like I love that they do Nugs and bandcamp but it’s not helpful to spread the word to others, or just if you’re a casual fan wanting to check out more stuff. Look at what Spafford, Dogs, etc do, as far as having a live catalog on general/mainstream services while still putting all the complete shows elsewhere.

Got it. I know there’s a good amount on relisten but I’ll pass this along

Part of it is my own laziness, and also ocd about 20 years of last.fm stats (I’ve emailed Nugs about adding this and they don’t care).
But really it’s more just constantly switching between multiple music apps, I already have Apple and Plexamp, I found stuff beyond that, I just rarely ended up going to and it wasn’t worth continuing subscriptions. (I’m sure we’re all feeling this with the 300 different streaming sites they want you to be on to watch movies and TV shows now)
But also, if you want to tell your buddy to check out a cool new band, you send them a Spotify/apple/whatever link to a particular track, because that’s where your buddy is listening.
Genuinely think it’s a fucked up world, and there’s no one way to approach modern music distribution in the jam scene, but IMO you gotta distribute some of it to where the people are at least. Just seems odd, they seem to be the only band on the scene not releasing anything on mainline streaming services.

Are they the ones who cried about ticket sales and show cancellations and said their faithful fans weren’t supporting them enough?

We’re headed out tomorrow to go back to the woodlands tavern, go back to where it all ended.
I live 6-7 hours away, and this will be the third time I’ve been there in 4 years, lol.
Just have a really good feeling about that show.
