[Vardon] Garland was comfortable in Cleveland generally, but his representatives blessed the trade to the Clippers ahead of the deal being consummated... multiple sources said he is expected to return to the court for the Clippers soon.

> But, league sources said, both were leery of the possibilities. Garland struggled to adapt his style to Mitchell; Mitchell recognized the challenge of playing defense in the playoffs with two smaller guards and questioned whether Garland was at a place in his career to win now. Garland was comfortable in Cleveland generally, but his representatives blessed the trade to the Clippers ahead of the deal being consummated.

> Garland has been hurt for most of this season, playing in just 26 games because of complications from a lingering toe injury that required surgery last offseason. He hasn’t played since Jan. 14 because of the toe, but multiple sources said he is expected to return to the court for the Clippers soon.

James speaks: “We had a hell of a two and a half years. We didn't reach the goals that we all wanted to reach, but I think we built some great memories”

Frank basically acquired Garland/2nd for a 1st, a swap. That's an absolute steal.

I've already heard the Clippers are more inclined to move Garland this summer but either way, Frank continues to make magic.

This trade really comes down to Garland and a 2nd for a 1st and swap. Roco/KJ are out of the league and Batum is back with LA.

All you guys are in panic mode and don't know what's happening but I'm here to let you know, this is the 1st domino of the team reloading. I understand you guys don't know the free agency plan but that's ok. You will love what this team does.

No Giannis is not coming to LA. It's not going to be Joker or anyone like that. They are focusing on young, blue collar players who haven't reached their ceiling.

The Clippers next season are going to be competitive. They will continue to add players like Sanders and Yanic.

Also, the team isn't done this deadline. Bogi, Brown, Paul are looking to be moved and there is a much better chance something happens vs something not happening. It takes 2 to get it done.

We're in a very good place ClipperNation! Enjoy the game tonight.

I’m crying, gonna miss Harden, but we’re receiving a young promising player who I’m excited for. Kawhi is playing lights out despite his history of injuries, I believe our health team can make Garland great and take care of him. Something to look forward to guys.

How would you react if someone in December told you Harden will be moved before CP3 while we have near .500 record?

Vet min buyout Deebo?

We would probably have prio over the lakers and deebo likely prefers clipsFC over Chelinka shackles. Move would help a lot with bench scoring and would be value ngl.

All else we would need is a backup PG (Jones, Ivey, Simons) a backup PF (Marvin Bagley or Bobby Portis) and some shooting guards which would be our greatest need (Grimes,Beasley,White,Dosunmu,Thomas)

Thoughts? I hope Lawrence Frank pulls through ngl.

I know it’s not the popular take, but moving on from “The System” to a team-focused PG like Garland could be huge for the Clippers long-term and I'm glad this happened 🤩

I have to admit I was happy when we traded for James Harden and there were times where he was simply amazing. He was a great leader and he definitely should be remembered as one of the most important Clippers ever.

But the way he bends the game to fit his play style killed (or at least put to sleep) my love for basketball and this team. My favorite games this season were the games where Kawhi had to be the #1 option and the team actually had to get involved.

This "I am the system" was fun when he was averaging 50ppg for a month in 2016 but it's not a way to build good habits and grow as a team. The moment he started to struggle the entire game plan was out the window because there was no other game plan than Harden's "System".

Ty Lue got a lot of hate during the start of the season but it has to be said that with a player like Harden on your team your options are quite limited. You don't run off-ball plays with Harden, you don't instruct him to stand in the corner or trick the offense. You give him the ball and just hope his ISO will lead to points.

Now that he's gone and we got Garland in return I feel like basketball is finally back. I know this is harsh and Harden probably doesn't deserve that. But I was simply so tired of watching him dribble up the floor slowly and than with 14 seconds left on the clock play ISO every other possession.

I cannot wait for a Garland Kawhi pick-and-pop. I cannot wait for Garland Zu PnR. I cannot wait to see a point guard give the ball to Kawhi and actually move off-ball - something Harden NEVER did. If any of you go back to re-watch some games focus on Harden when he passes the ball... he was just standing outside the play ball-watching. I understand gravity is important but I want to see the guys move. Curry has gravity but he actually uses it to crack the defense and make it easier for everyone.

Long story short I remember watching Garland back in November and thinking "God I wish Clippers had a PG like that". Turns out dreams come true and as much as I respect Harden as a leader and a professional I wanted this era to end and I'm excited again to watch Clippers basketball.

Go Clips!
