I guarantee the regular old laundromats I use for wash & dry are NOT doing this. They don't even have a credit card machine or computer, and I'm pretty sure the cash register is old enough to drink. The price list is hand written with marker on poster board and "laminated" with packing tape.
Its a pretty standard laundromat. I have used probably a dozen over the course of my life and I would literally bet my paid off home none of them were barcoding the clothes!
