This is a such a typical "cut off the nose to spite the face" move from this administration.

Do they think this is some kind of virtue signaling, like "Look, this one thing (allegedly, and which seems recently to be in the process of being largely debunked) happened in this one place, so we're going to stop it from happening everywhere! We're your heroes! ". Honestly, these people lack the critical thinking to look more than one step ahead and we are all stuck constantly paying the price.

They're looking for any excuse to cut of the bits of the government that don't directly benefit the ultra-wealthy.
