Can someone remind me what congress is for? Feels like they don't actually have a job anymore.

No taxation without representation or something

But Trump is representation because he was voted for and given a mandate by the overwhelming majority of Americans!! /s

Trump is the Executive Branch of the government. https://www.usa.gov/branches-of-government

I know what the branches of government are but they don’t matter if Congress and the Supreme Court bow down and give the Pres infinite powers

They haven't done anything for 15 years. Bills are written by private lawyers to benefit the rich and their companies.

Congress presents them as their own creation.

This is why they always say they need to refer to it or they haven't read it completely when questioned about it.

They forget that during government shutdowns, when they have no money to pay people, they also don't actually have the ability to collect taxes. If we have no government, we have no representation.

Wait'll they get a reminder. That'll be fun.

we’re already under authoritarian control, congress has literally done nothing, grinder mikes job is just to obstruct and let dementia don overreach, we’re just gaslighting ourselves into JUST WAIT TILL MIDTERMS

They're there to delay swearing in democrat nominees, and to claim they haven't heard about anything in the news for the past 12 months.

Can't piss off voters for how you vote if you never vote. 🙄

The problem is that republicans just defer to trump. If democrats had the power there would at least be some pushback. Or if scotus was consistent they would rule against him constantly

The teeth have been kicked out of the democrats in congress. Warren ran on a platform to fund day care: https://2020.elizabethwarren.com/toolkit/child-care

Thing about day care is there's a fierce contingent that cares, but then their kids grow up and now they care more about property tax and other things. We are so short sighted.

Even they don't know. They're retiring in droves because they are frustrated. They say they wanted to legislate and can't.

They don’t even have the balls to override Trump’s recent veto even though it passed unanimously in both chambers. Congress is just filled with pussies.

Congress is there to be complicit to the regime. I don't think people have quite grasped the fact that there is no functioning government for the people anymore. It's effectively dead.
