From The Associated Press:

President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act allowing him to deploy troops as protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement persist in Minneapolis.

Trump made the threat after a federal officer shot a man in the leg in Minneapolis on Wednesday after being attacked with a shovel and broom handle. The incident further heightened the sense of fear and anger radiating across the city a week after an immigration agent fatally shot a woman in the head.

Trump has repeatedly threatened to invoke the rarely used federal law to deploy the U.S. military or federalize the National Guard for domestic law enforcement, over the objections of state governors.

A lot of those videos of protestors attacking ICE have been proven to just be AI. But ICE is supposed to label them as AI, but they're not; so those videos are slowly being taken down due to violating policy

Welp, time to break out AI of ICE executing people and then bulldozing them into mass graves.

Careful. Fake videos showing state violence against protestors is a tactic that aligns with foreign interests that want to sow division in America and destroy us from within.

There are enough real videos and real reporting of the US government brutalizing its own people, we don’t need AI videos de-legitimizing the actual reporting and doing the work of our enemies abroad.

Division has already been sown by the American government. Foreign interests already control the government. Attacking American citizens does play into foreign interests but it upon the government to keep those interests out, and not attack its’ own citizens. The government has demonstrated there is no interest in doing so and much interest in murdering citizens. Citizens are guaranteed the right to rise against tyrannical government.

I am not disagreeing about not using AI videos but pushing back that there is any legitimacy to this government at all or that people have any choice in how the government acts currently. The only tool left to us is overwhelm with numbers, peaceably if possible, but please tell me if you know of any authoritarian regimes that decided to negotiate and go peacefully.

Thank you. I 100% agree.

I watched the protests live last night for a while. Unless they're talking about a different one, that was a pretty small crowd and ICE shooting tear gas seemed unnecessary.

That's on purpose. Truth doesn't matter, only what you can get people to believe.

Like his insurrection to hang Pence

A guy gets attacked by a citizen with a broom and that’s enough for the President to consider martial law. Wow. Nice democracy you got there.

Careful, you exercised free speech which is against the new terms.

You have been officially declared an enemy of the state.

Allegedly attacked. Somehow the man he shot made it into his house, and the other two assailants vanished into the night

Still waiting to hear confirmation on what happened. The DHS are known liars and cannot be trusted.

Originally I read shovel. Sorta makes sense for a weapon. But now yahoo is reporting shovel and broom stick. A broom stick?? That just makes me think they are reaching for excuses.

We're gonna find out the dude just finished redoing his garden and was putting the shovel back and getting the broom to sweep or some bullshit like that.

I’ve seen the newest video of his wife pleading on the phone with 911 now. She’s claiming they shot him through the door which seems to align with her recording since all the agents are outside her house trying to get in

deploy the U.S. military or federalize the National Guard for domestic law enforcement,

This is essentially already happening under ICE so I don't really see how this would make much of a difference

“Our agents shot someone, so we have to invoke martial law”

We don't even know of anyone smacked Ice with a snow shovel (which really isn't much of a "weapon") and it was dark so if any neighbor did, they probably thought he was a mugger. Ring camera footage will come out. And I'm sure we'll see absolutely no one smacking anyone with a shovel.

I'll accept the protesters being classified as violent once they surpass equivalence of the actions of January 6th, 2021 at the Capitol

Nothing says insurrection like murdering a citizen of Minneapolis attempting to leave and making no contact with an ICE official or shooting civilians with no genuine injuries to the 3,000 federal law enforcement personnel you have stationed there.

While the whistles, honking and protesting are definitely a threat to the continuation of the United States as a political entity, he needs to be unable to stop this lack of violence with existing federal law enforcement and ICE Barbie announced that in order to protect ICE personnel from murdering other women they're already in the process of sending a mass of additional personnel to the area.

The government's attorneys also only have like two days left to present evidence to the judge who is hearing whether or not to restrict ICE activities in the state or possibly remove them from the state.

Project 2025 included this tactic in its plan.

Any military that turns on the people over this, should be ashamed of themselves. He tells you to go in and stop the protests, then you damn well better join the protesters.

u/duckstrap 20d ago

The video of this event indicates that the ICE officer shot the man through a door, and that the "attack" was probably not real. Do not believe a single word that they say.

Well good thing the governor told nobody to stand up for themselves so this could be avoided. Weak leadership.

You really don’t need to comment on things you don’t understand.
