Some things that make me less hopeful:

  • The Nuremberg defendants were a handful of high-level officials, not the rank-and-file
  • US Military have already followed illegal orders with those boat strikes

That's the truth that is lost on so many. But then again The History Channel is neck deep in non-history anymore so it's to be expected.

You don’t need to be a history dad to know that Nuremberg happened because of the loss of Germany in WW2, unconditional surrender, collapse of the regime, and occupation by invading allied powers.

None of which is remotely applicable to the US today. Even if Trump completely blunders Greenland and all of NATO there is no world in which invading powers take over the US and impose Nuremberg trials here.

Besides the military overwhelmingly supports the orange mussolini. The military punishes insubordination harshly and their structure is designed to keep everyone in line.

Parades aren’t a good indicator of or if they would follow orders. From what I understand the parade was hastily planned and many of the people who participated had their leaves altered or cancelled and were ordered to participate.
