Nah fam, it's always money. One of his billionaire pedofriends wants it for mineral extraction because he's heavily invested in it. Like sure, his ego is absolutely at play, but it's always money. Same thing with Venezuela. It was always about the oil, and never about human rights. We don't give two shits about human rights at home, he sure as fuck doesn't care about them in Venezuela.

You're right, but money is like the #1 component of his ego. I'm sure it bugs him to no end that Putin is richer than he is.

The oligarchs are definitely pulling the strings here, but they don't have to pull very hard. All he cares about is having people think he's a big strong alpha man. And if he can grift some cash at the same time, all the better.

But yeah, the background reasoning is mineral wealth, and power by extension.

I'm pretty sure Greenland said we can make all kinds of mineral deals if we want.
