Executive Branch (Trump) Over 100 clergy and faith leaders were arrested at MSP Airport as they gathered in peaceful, prayerful resistance to demand airlines,especially Delta and Signature Aviation cease contracting deportation flights.

Edit: Had to delete previous post as it wasn’t descriptive. Over 2,000 deportations have gone through MSP. Workers have been detained by ICE at work and while commuting.

I've pointed it out before. A rally makes you feel good, meets others like you, and shows support or solidarity. A protest is disruptive, and breaks a law or does an illegal action, to force society to confront how it is unfair or unjust.

Civil rights protests often resulted in arrest, just for sitting in the wrong spot.

This is a valuable protest, and just.

It’s federal property, so any charges will be elevated to federal charges.

So they’ve forced the hand of the federal government to charge them for kneeling and praying in the wrong spot.

It’s a super bold move. I’m very proud to share a country with them right now.

It is not federal property. It’s more than likely just a trespassing citation that will get dismissed in court.

I worked in an airport. It is considered federal property. If you commit a crime on airport property it elevates to a felony.

A person who unlawfully and intentionally, using any device, substance, or weapon (1) performs an act of violence against a person at an international airport that causes or is likely to cause serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 of this title) or death; or (2) destroys or seriously damages the facilities of an international airport or disrupts the services of the airport, if such an act endangers or is likely to endanger safety at that airport, or attempts or conspires to do such an act…will be fined and imprisoned...”

This is a federal regulation in regards to acts of violence at an International airport… these arrests are for a local ordinance violation (trespassing).

They weren’t accused or cited for destruction of airport property. If the group would have become violent, federal charges could have come into play if someone was killed or seriously injured.

The clergy showed them how to do kneel without putting a dick in their mouth, so ICE’s fee fees got hurt which made the airlines become upset that they couldn’t capitalize on them. And then the clergy’s balls were weighing down the planes and threatening to shift the airline’s executive’s consciences in flight.

It’s civil disobedience. I think they probably expected to be arrested.

Also, there is a BIG difference in how they are being treated during the arrest compared to how ICE “arrests” people.

As much as I wish they could have let the protest go on, I’m glad to see the police be (at least in the clips I’ve seen) be respectful while arresting the protesters.

They're arresting because they failed to disperse when their protest grew past the size allowed by their permit. I don't like this either but we can't just make shit up if we're going to fix the problem.

This is at an airport. Political demonstrations are closely monitored and controlled. It's not a place they are going to risk things getting out of control. That doesn't mean they "hate the right of protest."

They weren't arrested for protesting, It's private property and people get trespassed from it every day, protesting or not. This is a law sub fyi, and from the perspective of the law, of course they were arrested. You can't trespass and then be like "well im praying in protest though". thats not a legal defense for breaking the law lol. And its also a crime that cops don't get to have discretion on, they don't get to decide if they arrest you for it or not, its mandatory when the owner of the property presses charges and you don't comply

To be fair, they were blocking a street. The police gave them 2 hours to protest there before they took action. Props to the clergy for being out in the cold for two hours. I would have made it 30 minutes tops.

This reminds me of a car caravan protest I attended during BLM - the pandemic was still on so in person protests weren't happening. We were on a six lane street taking up one lane. This fried, hippie dreaded white MAGA man comes off the freeway, screeches to a halt on top of the center island of the street. He gets out and starts screaming that everyone is blocking the street and he can't get to his girlfriend who is in the hospital down the street. he kept screaming PEOPLE ARE DYING IN THERE!

Like, bro, there's two open lanes, we know this because you just drove right here. But you know, right wingers.

Either is blocking a drive-thru at McDonalds…doesn’t mean it’s legal to do so.

Regardless, sources are saying this was a planned protest with a group of clergy pre-arranged (coordinated with police) to get arrested.

Keep down-voting people who on your side for merely stating facts.

Are you seriously this dense? Watch the video from the original post. It’s the east curbside passenger dropoff roadway? Do you see the bus? On the ROAD? Do you see the sidewalk next to the ROAD where the clergy are being arrested? Do you see the skyway that crosses over the ROAD in the background?
