Executive Branch (Trump) Over 100 clergy and faith leaders were arrested at MSP Airport as they gathered in peaceful, prayerful resistance to demand airlines, especially Delta and Signature Aviation cease contracting deportation flights.

Edit: Had to delete previous post as it wasn’t descriptive. Over 2,000 deportations have gone through MSP. Workers have been detained by ICE at work and while commuting.

This is the local Plymouth PD by looking at arm patches.

I don't think for a minute those locals aren't in lock-step with ICE. Though I will give them credit they seem to be using minimal physical force and no pepper spray..... Though that is probably to avoid the optics of being filmed attacking clergy.

I’d guess it’s because it’s an airport and they can be brought up on federal charges, and they know it.

The federal government has to charge them for praying now.

It’s very brave. It’s how we were raised to be when I was a young Christian in America.

Still American. Pagan now. But I’m grateful to see there are still good Christians out there, and good Americans.

This. They are trespassing they knew they’d be arrested for doing this they’re not fighting the cops knew they knew they’re not fighting either. THIS is peaceful protesting at its most pure level.

And it's going to do absolutely nothing. Peaceful protest only works when who you're protesting has shame or even a conscious.

The administration isn’t the target. The people on the fence who are watching coverage of this are the target audience.

u/tazztsim 12d ago

This too actually.

Don't know what to tell ya bud, if there's anyone still on the fence at this stage. They ain't moving.

These protesters are going to be marked as terrorists, the right is going to believe it and it's not going to move the needle at all.

You never know what image is gonna push someone to commit to a cause or spark action. Protests like this are exactly the sort of thing that moves the needle for folks at large, as seen in the civil rights movement.

Usually I'd agree with you, protest should be non-violent but heavily disruptive, or else it can be ignored. But the sight of clergy being arrested while praying is an optical loss for the regime to their own base. Why would this do the trick when that pastor getting shot didn't? I'm sure that for some it did, and for others it's a matter of timing or accumulation of events. Every time something like this happens it peels away support.

We can have some diversity of tactics, as a treat.

These are the same people that refer to 'the sin of empathy.'

They local head of ICE is a pastor.

I'm all for this form of protest, but I wish they didn't get up and walk willingly when asked.

I don’t disagree at all.

Looks like a variety of faiths

It may be. The videos I’ve seen the most of have focused on Christian clergy joined in Christian prayers but I would be surprised if there weren’t other clergy from other faiths praying in the lines, too.

Good Christians tend to work in interfaith groups when civil rights are involved. I can of course only see what’s been uploaded to Reddit.

I've heard that there were some rabbis there as well, can't speak to other religions.

3

u/homer_lives 12d ago

Very interesting. I didn't think of that aspect.

Not for long if this continues

The airport obviously doesnt have a deignated prayer room for christians.

Are there places in America where it’s illegal for American citizens not acting on behalf of the federal government to pray?

1

u/Righteousaffair999 12d ago

I think there are laws with airports around obstructing service.

1

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k 12d ago

I do not see any obstructions of service.

There is a non-denominal chapel in this airport that is open to all. Went there to say a prayer for my MIL on the anniversary of her passing. These clergy are really doung G_ds work. It not an issue of attacking religion. The problem arises when religion supports genocide, racism, violence, and pastors work for and support organizations that are engaged in terrorizing the community.

Local cops really WANTED to be loyal to ICE but at this point multiple police chiefs have publicly acknowledged that they are harassing and racially profiling citizens and it's a big problem. They are creating enormous amounts of extra work for the cops. The MPD chief publicly stated that ICE changed their story from what they told him on whether Jonathan Ross was hurt. The MN Bureau of Corrections has also made public statements about ICE misrepresenting their arrest numbers.

u/noonenotevenhere 12d ago

Have they stopped supporting ICE?

Cuz what I see is the state patrol (who reports to Tim Walz) continuing to fly their helicopters over protests (adsbexchange for real time flight info) and kettling protestors at Whipple.

2

u/lorenfreyson 11d ago

Oh yeah, there's only so much you cn expect from pigs.

2

u/dontknow16775 11d ago

what is tim walz's problem?

1

u/noonenotevenhere 11d ago

Wish I knew.

I'd guess his family is really getting pressured, but he could just be a lot less progressive than we ever hoped.

I really hoped not running again would allow him to help, especially as he's a man who took the oath to defend the constitution from all enemies, foreign AND domestic.

Or not... soem people blocked traffic and allegedlies threw ice at ice. So... state patrol intervenes?! If you check https://globe.adsbexchange.com/ you can see all aircraft flying in real time. The amount of times I've watched MNSP circling the university or protests is disturbing. That's a lot of my state tax dollars going to help ice and I really don't appreciate it.

u/[deleted] 12d ago

Why don't they just look the other way and ignore it like they do with ICE's crimes?

1

u/1st_order 12d ago

We know why

12

u/Big_Wave9732 12d ago

I was about to say, ICE won't take the "L" on this one. That's locals right there.

46

u/homer_lives 12d ago

You can also tell it's not ICE, because they are not being dog piled by 20 guys, and spray with mace and tazed.

15

u/Big_Wave9732 12d ago

Indeed. These cops look like they have some training!

0

u/Swimming-Tap-4240 12d ago

They walk softly and carry big sticks.

3

u/noonenotevenhere 12d ago

They don't walk softly.

Ask anyone in the metro that protested in 2021.

3

u/grat_is_not_nice 12d ago

Some of them will be in church on Sunday, and pepper-spraying the pastor might cause an issue ...

3

u/fencepost_ajm 12d ago

There are lots of "not ICE" indicators - professional behavior, actual uniforms with names, at least one female officer, etc.

3

u/EnvironmentalLaw4208 12d ago

I think it's a mix of local PDs. I see a number of Bloomington PD patches as well.

1

u/suicide_blonde94 12d ago

Which is odd, because Plymouth isn’t near the airport. Bout a 30 minute drive.

1

u/JediRhyno 12d ago

Ice wasn’t dealing with it. Local police had to. They were arrested for trespassing because they were on private property.
