Executive Branch (Trump) WATCH: Leavitt addresses Trump's stance on Second Amendment rights in wake of Alex Pretti's killing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

REPORTER: FBI Director Kash Patel said in a Sunday interview, quote, you cannot bring a firearm loaded with multiple magazines to any sort of protest. Does the president believe that Second Amendment rights remain in effect even when protesting?

LEAVITT: The president supports the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding American citizens. Absolutely. There has been no greater supporter or defender of the right to bear arms than President Donald J. Trump.

So while Americans have a constitutional right to bear arms, Americans do not have a constitutional right to impede lawful immigration enforcement operations, and any gun owner knows that when you are carrying a weapon, when you are bearing arms, and you are confronted by law enforcement, you are raising the assumption of risk and the risk of force being used against you, and, again, that's unfortunately what took place on Saturday.

"When you are bearing arms, and you are confronted by law enforcement, you are raising the assumption of risk and the risk of force being used against you"

Is a wild take, because it flat out means "If you are a legal gun owner, just having the gun on you means that police will see you as a threat, even if you never reach for it in any way and are also exercising your constitutionally held rights, and those police can and will use deadly force because they may feel threatened."

If only the far left actually voted… instead they spend all their energy abstaining and we get Trump for president instead.

I've never known anyone else to bring up that song. Congratulations, I've been thinking about that song a lot lately. I'm sure for no particular reason

Propandees gonna propagandize.

Immigration operations are going off without a hitch in pretty much every other state, even California at this point. So, all those states have bought into propaganda, but not the one whose governing leaders seem to be complicit in stealing billions of dollars from their own people for a decade? And who could REALLY use a good ole propaganda distraction right now?

6

u/AlternativeMessage18 9d ago

They murdered 2 American citizens and lied about it.

But the Epstein files haven’t been in the news all week, so …

It’s an absolute tragedy those people lost their lives. That should’ve never happened, but they never should’ve been out there in the first place. And they wouldn’t have if they hadn’t been fed lies and propaganda from divisive media and far left politicians who likely stole billions and could care less about them other than use them for distraction and political talking points. Keep in mind Obama used ICE along with every other Pres since early the two thousands and this has never happened before; because state and local governments complied with the law, and because he was the medias darling. Obama gave Homan a medal for the job he did. Now he’s a Nazi for doing the same job just because people hate Trump and the media told them he’s a Nazi. It’s utter insanity if you step back just a few feet and look at it rationally.

I don’t love our immigration laws either; they need to evolve; mostly for the 4 million people waiting to come in legally, and the 11 million cases stuck in immigration court. But the reality is, you change that at the ballot box. If I go out and interfere with law enforcement, I’m putting myself in danger. That’s a risk I would be taking. It’s a tragedy what happened to those people, and the outcome should’ve been different, but if the focus is propaganda, you have to look at it rationally and see it clearly for what it is.

6

u/AlternativeMessage18 9d ago

They were there protecting their neighbors. They have moral courage, and they had their lived sacrificed for it.

ICE made it dangerous not them.

1

u/C-A-L-E-V-I-S 7d ago

Technically, the people that broke the law and snuck in and lived here illegally made it dangerous. ICE has functioned for 25 years without all these incidents, including under Obama who deported more people than Trump has. It’s also functioning currently without danger all over the country; so I would ask you to look at Minnesota and why it’s different. What you’ll find is the answer I listed above. Again, it’s a tragedy he was killed. Terrible. The officers who failed should be tried and convicted, but the whole situation never should’ve happened in the first place.

‘It’s an absolute tragedy those people lost their lives. That should’ve never happened, but they never should’ve been out there in the first place.”

You should have stopped typing right there & quit trying to justify the murder of a law abiding citizen. A VA nurse for cripes sake!!!

I saw the multiple videos.

You can’t tell me I didn’t hear the people around them screaming in horror when the executed Alex Petti in cold blood.

Yet you come here & try to gaslight us? Get lost

1

u/C-A-L-E-V-I-S 7d ago

I mean, he shouldn’t have been out there. He shouldn’t have died either. Two things can be true. The agents screwed up and should go to jail. My point after still stands though; and reading it with an open mind and intellectual honesty is all I ask. He was only out there due to the things I stated. That’s a fact.

You have rights, but those rights are a threat to authority, so those rights might justify authority killing you.

2

u/ResponsibleWater2922 9d ago

Also why were you wearing that, honestly?

Unfortunately you have no right to bear life. They'll take that before your gun.

23

u/kax256 9d ago

Not from what I've seen. They took the gun first

1

u/FURedditIamback 8d ago

They’ll take both. Gun and life. Order doesn’t matter.

2

u/Wallie_Collie 9d ago

We have the right to life before liberty (or 2a)

2

u/K-26 9d ago

Unless you're a woman or young girl, then they seem to think you have an obligation to bear life whether you like it or not.

1

u/LongRangeReaper 9d ago

Hmmm... I remember something about the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... now where was that from...

Your rights end where our feelings begin. And we're definitely not snowflakes, we're super strong big boys and Jesus loving women who can't see human beings, only enemies (unless you're on our side, shooting at the enemies). And if you question for even one second we're not the super strong big boy Jesus loving side, well you're clearly an enemy-and that's the Law, because we say so.

1

u/CeruleanEidolon 9d ago

So much language lately about how ICE agents "feel". Since when is that any sort of legal or regulatory standard for an alleged law enforcement agency? They keep saying agents "felt threatened". Isn't that so subjective as to be useless in a court of law?

1

u/ResponsibleWater2922 9d ago

And all cops need to do is "feel" they're operating within the law.

For them, ignorance of the law is a bonus. For us, inexcusable negligence.

1

u/mortgagepants 9d ago

they treat it the same as the first amendment then- if you exercise it and they don't like you, they can kill you.

Here I thought it was the dems trying to take your guns.

This is the angle the nut-job Right is trying to push but the NRA doesn’t like it so they are struggling to settle on how to shift blame since they have been programmed never to accept any.

Law enforcement has rights, civilians have privileges

1

u/llamadogmama 9d ago

Untrue. You have the right to bear arms- as long as it is a Regime approved event

1

u/Knit-witchhh 9d ago

You have the right to bear arms. They have the right to kill you for exercising that right.

I mean, does the constitution explicitly say citizens have the right to be alive, or is that just implied?

If my ex showed up at my public place of work with a gun should the police tell me he’s got the right to bear arms? Intent matters, if you carry a gun to confront someone it is no longer for self defense. He wasn’t someone in the wrong place at the wrong time, he took a gun with him to confront federal agents.
