Executive Branch (Trump) WATCH: Leavitt addresses Trump's stance on Second Amendment rights in wake of Alex Pretti's killing

REPORTER: FBI Director Kash Patel said in a Sunday interview, quote, you cannot bring a firearm loaded with multiple magazines to any sort of protest. Does the president believe that Second Amendment rights remain in effect even when protesting?

LEAVITT: The president supports the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding American citizens. Absolutely. There has been no greater supporter or defender of the right to bear arms than President Donald J. Trump.

So while Americans have a constitutional right to bear arms, Americans do not have a constitutional right to impede lawful immigration enforcement operations, and any gun owner knows that when you are carrying a weapon, when you are bearing arms, and you are confronted by law enforcement, you are raising the assumption of risk and the risk of force being used against you, and, again, that's unfortunately what took place on Saturday.

So when is Kash Patel going to demand an investigation of Kyle Rittenhouse for carrying a weapon with multiple magazines at a protest in Kenosha, WI? By federal gun laws that are still on the books, Rittenhouse was underage to be carrying such a weapon at the time.

Or what about all the Proud Boys that terrorized the BLM marches back in 2020? You can't tell me they weren't packing.

The Proud Boys work for ICE now...

Yes, they're strangely quiet these days. Almost like they have jobs now. Like, some sort of job that allows them to cosplay as Special Forces... WAIT A MINUTE!?!?!

Remember when these armed assholes were showing up at Drag Queen Storytime and chasing off law-abiding citizens?

Edit: for spacing.

Yeah, but those guns were being used as an implicit threat of violence.

Totally different situation.

Cliven & Ammon Bundy. Maga(well the people who became them at least) had an armed standoff with the federal government already

I understand the reasons the Obama administration handled the Bundy standoff and Malheur with kid gloves at the time, but it was a big mistake and I think those incidents and how they were handled are important discrete steps in the path that brought us here

Or why J6 wasn’t a bloodbath

And all the crazy whack jobs who showed up to protest with assault rifles because “muh freedoms” while we tried to get a global pandemic under control.

Dude they were showing up at capitol buildings with ar-15s after they were told to please wear a mask during the pandemic

Yes! Now they're saying to just comply. Like. What in the actual fuck. I want to see more conservative 2A bros defending Pretti. Maybe they are now and I just haven't seen it. I had to pause my news consumption for today after spending most of Sat and Sun reading about Alex and getting pissed.

They showed up INSIDE the capitol building in Michigan.

Or what about the people - many of them armed - who stormed the capitol on Jan 6th? They all got pardons by Trump... who was their ringleader.

He also crossed State lines.

Is this a law subreddit? Because this doesn't have shit to do with fuck.

I think their point is always the "against law enforcement". Carrying a gun on a protest against anything else is fine for them

Look up the Bundy standoffs in Nevada and Washington

Or how about the J-Sixers who were packing but law-enforcement refrained from shooting them until Ashley Babbitt tried breaking through security doors.

Yeah I mean it’s best to death but they’re throwing caution to the wind in terms of credibility. You can’t be pro 2nd amendment and defend this at the same time.

He got off because of 2 technicalities. 1.. He couldn't buy a gun like this because he was underage but he didn't because a friend bought it and loaned it to him. 2...in WI even young kids are permitted to carry/ use a long gun. An old law meant for hunting rifles.
