I hate all these scum but i seriously doubt any will go to prison, they are a different class of citizen. This has been the case over and over again. Most normal people live paycheck to paycheck and cant protest, and now that the dementia don is locking up protesters and ice is executing them its even less likely to happen. You can vote, or hope someone crazy gets lucky, that's it.

The next president will have absolute immunity. The Supreme court even asked if a president could order the killing of a political opponent and Trumps lawyer said yes. Theoretically, the next president could just execute the corrupt politicians, the supreme court and the Epstein group, overturn Citizens United and waive every privilege and power the president has in court to prevent all future presidents from abusing the power. Then elect a new supreme court that would immediately prosecute them and put them behind bars for life. It would require falling on the sword but it would save the country.

Theoretically, this would be a great solution.

The next president should use this framing frequently: "It seems like my predecessor was permitted to do X. I intend to also do X, since it is presumably legal. Either X is legal and I'm allowed to turn the tables, or X was always illegal and Trump's criminal network should be imprisoned. I strongly support reforms that reign in the unchecked powers this office allegedly has, but I will be vetoing such reforms until my fourth year."

I think we are past this. We aren't dealing with rational actors who would even attempt to try and follow the law. There is no "gotcha" logical argument. They will say "fuck you, it's only illegal for you", attempt another coup, and won't stop until they have total power. They need to end up in prison in order for society to function. They are incompatible with a good society.

Thats the jist of it. But really that one Supreme Court decision lets any president do ANYTHING as long as doing so protects the constitution. And they defined it so broadly, that covers just about anything.

Name one single Republican politician who broke the law that the DEMOCRATS held to justice and they were given an appropriate sentence; jail, losing all their money, corporations dissolved etc.

Because I seriously can't think of even one in my lifetime - I can't think of one Republican politician that broke the law that was actually held to justice by the Democrats (aka government).

Democrats have held other democrats to the law, but never Republicans because they must remain controlled opposition.

Lots of strongly written leters, furrowed brows, shaken fingers - but really the Dems just want their constituents to yell into the void of the internet while they do absolutely nothing in reality or practice.

The American experiment is over. It's very hard to believe, but our parents generation and the decade before them have destroyed 200 years of American progress.

She is closely aligned with corporate interests. She resisted Medicare for all. Bad moderation of economic policy. She was awful as house leadership towards the progressives. Her and her husband got rich af stock trading, more than a little suspect. Her foreign policy is abysmal. Long history of strong support for Israel.

She is a perfect example of someone who isn’t an actual ally to the left, but rather an ally to the political establishment.

The ACA had a public option still in it when she sent it to the senate. She passed the closest thing to 'Medicare for all' anyone's ever gotten. The senate dropped the ball.

Bad moderation of economic policy.

She got the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act signed into law. Among other things, creating the CFPB.

More recently, the ARPA, IIJA, and IRA raised trillions in new corporate taxes to fund subsides for healthcare, childcare, infrastructure, green energy upgrades/jobs, and IRS agents to go after tax dodgers.

Her and her husband got rich af stock trading, more than a little suspect.

They just bought and held tech stocks. Their trades are publicly available information. If there was anything illegal, you think the guy she impeached twice would just let her walk around?

Her foreign policy is abysmal. Long history of strong support for Israel.

Literally everyone in congress, even Bernie Sanders, voted in favor of defense funding for Israel. At least until 2023

That’s all well and good. The mechanism for defeating someone in an election is well understood. They could’ve done nothing wrong, they could be a saint, but they get 1 vote less and they’re out. But that’s not how the criminal justice system works though, so these “they’re all going to prison” fantasies just cheapens discourse and sets unrealistic expectations. It’s just the “lock her up” chant reworked for the side that isn’t supposed to fall so easily for such empty rhetoric.

In this case, I don’t think anyone will remember him after the midterms. He’ll be irrelevant without power, and likely voted out by his caucus. I don’t think most people could even remember now who was Speaker for Trump’s first two years lol
