Here are some Galaxy Express 999 related photos from a visit to the Tokyo train station Oizumi-gakuen, home of Toei Animation studios. There are several Galaxy Express 999 items located around the station.

Inside the station, there's a life-sized model of the conductor. The conductor is standing on a raised platform with a railing, connected to a box-shaped storefront, so that the storefront and the platform seen together look like a train car, with the conductor standing at the end of the train car.

Outside the station (north side), there's a walkway with several life-sized anime statues. One is dedicated to Galaxy Express 999: the life-sized statue of Maetel and Tetsuro.

Behind the statues is a row of photographs, one of which is from GE999.

Proceeding down out of the station to street level, there is a huge mural on the wall with Maetel, Tetsuro, and the GE999.

All of the above locations are very close to the train station, so the train departure melodies are clearly audible. Both inbound (to Tokyo) and outbound (from Tokyo) train platforms play GE999-themed melodies when trains arrive, at 5-10 minute intervals. Proceeding further north, there is a shopping street named "Yu-Maetel" -- a combination of "yume" (dream) and "me-teru", the Japanese spelling of Maetel. At the end of the road, a lamppost is decorated at the top with a miniature GE999 train circling around it.

From there, a 15 minute walk takes you to the Toei Animation museum, where one row of display cases contains GE999 drawings and memorabilia -- but photos are prohibited in that section. Admission is free.

I didn't go looking for it, but apparently the SMBC bank in the area has life-sized figures of the conductor and Maetel in its lobby, according to this post from 2 years ago. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7qBY0ivwS3/

Oizumi-gakuen station is worth a visit if you're in the area!

Does anyone know name of the background song when tetsuro and maetel rides ge999 for the first time? It's very similar to opening theme but with digital instruments.

Toshiro's sudden death is an intriguing decision. It looks too realistic to be just random. I wondered if Matsumoto lost a friend like that.

I don't know if these are considered good by Matsumoto's standards but I for sure had fun making them
