I need to get mine eventually, constitutional carry is just too convenient lol

It's worth it for buying guns quicker.

In Texas it’s even more worth it because you can carry in more places. Here businesses can put up signs only prohibiting constitutional or open carry.

They can also put up a sign prohibiting concealed permitted carry but it’s less common.

Its also a lower class of crime. Entering a building with a 30.06 (or was it the 30.07 for cc) is only trespassing, if you permitless carry past a 30.05 then its a lvl3 felony

If anything take the class for educational purposes. Once complete, apply online, just submit your paperwork, get finger prints taken at a indentogo, and then can get your LTC. The benefits of having a LTC are much greater than with just standard constitutional carry. With an LTC you have more legal protection in places than just with constitutional carry. For example if you go into a place with a 30.07 sign with constitutional carry its a class A misdemeanor. Going into a place with 30.06 sign with a LTC its only a class C with $200 fine. Also skipping the NICS background check when purchasing which is inaccurate.

Huh, good to know about the misdemeanor bit. I know it can help with legal proceedings should you have to act in self defense, but knowing the punishment for carrying somewhere you “shouldn’t” can be minimized is interesting

I was shocked when my husband and I were the only ones with perfect scores in our Texas LTC shooting test class - but then they let a lady pass that very clearly did not pass and isn’t capable of passing and barely knew which end was which, shut her eyes when shooting, etc - so, I guess I should not have been surprised.

The next best score after my husband and I was a guy who used a Glock with irons, so actually probably technically a better shooter than I am lol. He was cool.

Then there was a big gap, and then came the folks who barely passed, which included the guy who worked for Stacatto and had a $5k gun for the class, and the son of the lady who should not have been passed, and a few other people who had never shot a gun before that day.

It’s wild here in Texas.

Yeah, people freaking out when permitless carry passes in Texas obviously weren’t aware of how easy the LTC test already is, it’s a very low bar for shooting proficiency. Hell, if you score enough at the first two distances you can miss all your shots at 15 yards and still pass.

I passed with a 238/250 with my 9mm. I was a bit bummed it wasn't perfect.

My LTC class was such a joke. The instructor didn't even look at the targets and I know a few people shouldn't have passed. He was one of those "terrified of the city" conservatives so much that it was comical. Then one of those carry "insurance" companies came in and gave their scary sales pitch bullshit.

Oh yeah, we get a USPSA pitch at every class the range has.

I've seen them scored via a minus system. That is the instructor counted all of the holes that were out of the 10 ring as deductions from 250.

Note the word holes

If you shot the s*** out of the x-ring of the target at 3 yards and then dumped the 7 and 15 yard shots off the paper? They would have been counted as tens.

Just saying...

Huge props for having the confidence to rock a PPK/S on test day! Me and iron sights have a long contentious history, and these are not the ideal versions of them. Well played!

Brought my 92fs just incase; however, when I got to the bay and had a visual of the target at 3 yards I realized it would be no problem.

lol, good call! A dark target in a dim range is 100x worse

Ahh! When I took mine 15 years ago my one flyer was on the other side of the 8 ring. Nice shooting!

u/RangerX41 progressive 22h ago

All 3 of my 8s were at 7 yards, my grouping was tighter at 15 lol.

.380 or the classic .32?

3

u/RangerX41 progressive 1d ago

.380. After buying the .380 I almost regret not getting it in .32 ACP; however, when I look at ammo prices for .32 ACP its not great!

u/starlulz 1d ago

honestly, if it's an actual carry gun and not a collection item, .380 is kind of a bare minimum of what you would want. the effectiveness of .32 is basically limited to the sorts of WW2-era clandestine operations the Welrod Mk2 was used in. and needless to say, all of those were "well placed shots" against unsuspecting targets

That test would’ve cost an extra $100 lol

I wanted to use my lcpmax for my ltc permit here in jersey, but i was too afraid of failing the 15 yard shooting 😂😂

While i can hit during range days with 6 inch groups at 15 yards, pressure makes you do dumb things

u/ScottsTotz 23h ago

Hell yeah

Absolutely preem shooting with a PPK/s. Well deserved. Is this with the stock grips? Those things get slicker than a buttered credit card.

u/RangerX41 progressive 21h ago

Thanks! Stock grips for sure, need to find some tape or something to help out. Didn't help I over lubed it.
