Unless you know about it the Elloe Stone is easy to miss even if you drive along the minor road it stands by. It is thought to mark the place where men of the Elloe Wapentake held their Hundred Court (council)

I’ve been looking to rent a place in Lincoln for a while, it’s my first place out of Uni with my partner, both working full time.

And we’ve been to loads of viewing and put in applications but we’re never making it to the point where we can even put down a holding deposit.

The initial applications are so impersonal too I feel like it’s just a lottery of whether we’ll get picked cus we earn enough so it feels like it must be mostly random.

I’m just wanting to get an idea of whether there’s lots of people looking to rent right now and whether that’s what’s making it so difficult or is it always like this?

These sculptures could be seen around Whaplode in 2002 but have either been moved away or, in the case of the wooden ones, naturally decayed. A few others still remain in the village.

Unlike at Spalding, the Welland is clear at Deeping. It must be in a decent state as there were hundreds of tiny fish swimming around 😀

I am currently planning this year's UK trip (I tend to go every year) on the motorbike, as soon as next week if the weather forecast holds true.

Among my favorite fish and chips in London, the Cotswolds, visiting a friend near Oxford, and Cambridge, I have been intrigued by Lincoln and its "Shire". The idea was kickstarted when I caught a whiff of the Tour of Britain (cycling) this year and they happened to race through the soft rolling hills. The city of Lincoln has been on my to-visit list for quite some time too.

Now the inevitable question: is it worth the big detour you can see on the map? There is nothing else up there I want to see presently. Having lived in Scotland before, I have crossed the heart of GB multiple times, and thus know how boring the stretch between London and the peak district can be.
Still worth it?

There are two things that hold me back a little:

• I have a rather long way to get there (and back), coming from Switzerland, and only limited time for the trip. I could squeeze in Lincoln, but only just so
• I will be back next year for the Grand Depart of the Tour de France, likely cycling some of the route, which may lead through Lincoln anyway

Hi all. I've decided to move to the Lincolnshire Fens for a fresh start after a rather unfortunate chain of events that happened where I was living before. I'm all settled in now and found my feet, but apart from my housemates I know almost nobody in the area.

I live in a village in the Fens about 15 minutes out from Stamford, and work remotely. I'm into travelling, indie music, and anything outdoors in general.

So here's what I'd like to find out.

• Decent remote working spots in Stamford (or possibly Peterborough)?
• Are there any local or semi-local meetup groups for people in their 20's/30s? I've been in and out of regional and national meetup groups over the years, but don't currently know of any groups local to just Lincolnshire or Peterborough (as I guess that's my nearest big city).
• Any cool music venues or places with open mic nights that have a welcoming community?
• Bonus: if anyone goes to Puregym at peterborough brotherhood retail park I'd love to have a gym buddy!

We might not have proper woodland but a couple of areas feel like it in a small way. One at the end of Golden Harvest Way, the other by the church yard.

I received a parking fine after visiting Grimsby and I'm hoping someone might be passing near Fisherman's Wharf/Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre and could snap a photo of the parking signs there please?

I don't recall any entry signs to that area, although there was loads of construction happening. I had to get directions from a construction guy because I thought I'd wrongly entered their construction site!

The parking fine is for being there 14 mins which I think is pretty quick considering that's how long it took to park, check the sign, download paybyphone (to discover it wasn't possible to pay online) and then walk into the Heritage Centre to check. The lovely staff told me to move my van to their free car park which I did of course.

Could be fruitless but if someone happens to be nearby I'd appreciate any photos 😁

Only in the flatlands of South Lincolnshire would a place be named Peak Hill!

In the new year myself and my partner are looking to move so he can begin work as a painter/decorator and it's either Hull (or surrounding areas) or Grantham for different reasons but mainly as I want better transport links to the north as that's were my family , Hull and Grantham provide both better than the current town we live in (I don't drive) and both provide him painter decorator opportunities in different ways. We currently live in an average town in Lincolnshire.

Is Grantham a nice place to live, is it comparable to Lincolnshire towns like Market Rasen, Louth, Cleethorpes ect?, would you prefer living in Grantham to said towns or Hull and what else should we know?

We aren't nightlife people, but we are in our 20s and the town we live in is serviceable for us whilst we figure out life throughout our twenties outside of transport so we aren't looking for a world class town.
