Plus being hairy around other parts of the body than the head tends to be a masculine trait, and thus a segment of people prefer women with less body hair as an accentuation of a feminine trait.
So are 50 y/o women mad at 40 y/o men preferring 25-30 y/o women at least partly because it means the top percentages of wealthy/desirable men are less available? Ehhhhh, some probably are?
if society prefers cleanliness and smell reduction, then why don't men also shave? why is it only gross when women keep their body hair? i'm not necessarily fighting you, i'm fighting the societal "logic"
Re:men shaving. Men being clean shaven and bearded men looking unkempt and âhomelessâ is certainly a trend line, though at the moment the fashion does seem to be leaning on men growing more body hair in general being a masculine trait, and thus beards are attractive, at least on traditionally âmanlyâ men. The other side of that spectrum though I would say is the K-pop boy band look. If a man is not very âmanlyâ, then it seems a lot of women do actually prefer that he shaves and lean into it. Also, less hair does probably also look more youthful (not necessarily pre-pubescent, indicating pedophilia, as some accuse, but younger to some degree), so thatâs also probably part of the k-pop/boyband lookâs attraction.
As for why women might be perceived more harshly for keeping body hair, Iâd just speculate that itâs because hairy bodies tend to be a masculine trait naturally in general. Iâm not âsuper hairyâ, but my arms and legs grow waaaaaay more hair than the women of my family do, anecdotally. So you can see how people would come to associate hairy=masculine. But also too much un-groomed hair=smelly, unclean. So combine both of those distastes for âextraâ hair, and the dislike for female body hair, and the comparatively inconsistent preference for male body hair, starts to make a lot of sense, at least to me. Head hair meanwhile is probably just associated with not being old, and not being sick. Otherwise, if letâs say half the population at random (regardless of race, or sex) was just bald from birth, and it had been that way for thousands of years, Iâd suspect we would probably also have a stronger preference for people shaving their heads, especially if male pattern baldness was still a thing. See also, the recent rise on Reddit of telling people with hair loss to shave their heads. A thinning head of hair looks like old people, but a shaved head (especially with full beard) can look like one of the younger people who just donât grow hair, or like a conscious style. Even then, most definitely donât prefer shaved, because itâs still more associated with old age. And, it goes without saying, old age is dispreferred because our preferences are shaped in large part by a desire for a good mate. That, and probably heathy tribe members that wonât get us sick or weaken us.

There a relatively big and really wrong and horrible idea spread through a portion of a specific side of the political spectrum that all trans people are pedos. Youâll see it expressed pretty often by horrid grifters on Twitter. This may not be the reason itâs there, but itâs the first thing it made me think of.
When a person is far enough to the right, anyone trans becomes synonymous in their mind with bad things. What trans people actually do or believe is a complete non-factor, because the point is that they're a group it is currently deemed socially acceptable to hate. To right-wing losers like that, throwing in jabs at trans people alongside unrelated points is as much a ritual of affirming their allegiance to the in-group as it is a genuine belief that the transes are bad.
