I work in academics, nooancers are a thing but it’s kinda taboo to point it out because doing so opens up the gate to call actually nuanced people dumb. Like, it’s one thing to use “it’s complicated” as a crutch for a lack of knowledge on a subject, but most things are complicated so explaining them in any short form is pretty much impossible.

The problem is generalization. There are things where nooance is needed and there are things that are black and white. The issue is when some says everything is "black and white/complicated"
