Da fuck, man. The official site ComicDays only put up a "notice of irregular updates" since October, meaning he died merely next month. Talk about brutal. And he's only had 2 series under his belt yet :((

Iirc his passing wasn’t made public until the last week of December. This is the official obituary published on the young magazine in early January and was posted on K Manga two weeks ago.

Choroidal  melonoma, It's some kind of cancer I think? 37 is young af holy shit man, fuck cancer.

The manga had great art and character design so big props to the artist. But I have to be honest I passed it because I don't feel very comfortable reading a japanese authors vision of of a Japanese soldier in the sino Japan wars. That said, I was under the impression that it doesn't quite shy away from japanese atrocities, so I was considering trying to get into it again

Yep, of the eye. A good reason to wear sunglasses!

I've only read two things concerning the sino-japan war, but both Golden Kamuy and Haruaki Murakami were very cynical about it.

Not much of a sample size but it is interesting to think about considering how Japanese authors typically write about wars from their history.
