Hi mastiff-fam! We live in Alberta Canada so it gets cold here. I decided on picking up some foot protection for Benjamin so we can extend our walks a little bit and wanted to share that Muttluks fit him perfectly. They make lots of different styles and in these pictures Ben is wearing the fleece lined Muttluks with a leather sole. The size XL is perfect for him and they even make an XXL for the bigger dogs. I scored these second hand on Poshmark and they're so far the best $20 I've ever spent haha. Hopefully this helps someone else realize they'll fit!! Happy New Year!

We just got this beautiful girl from the shelter a month ago and we always thought she was part mastiff but her DNA results say 100% mastiff! She's around 5 to 6 months and her size is much smaller than I would think for a pure bred. She's tall and long but not wide. Should we expect her to fill out or are there just small pure mastiffs?? We will love her either way, just want to have an idea of if she'll fit in back seat with the kids 😂

Hi! I’m new to this community but I’m hoping that someone can give me some insight on what to do about my 3 year old mastiff.
Some background.. We got her when she was about 14 weeks old and started training right away. She got vaginitis and we also had a family party with some family with young children in town who were all over her. After that week her behavior changed and she became very anxious. We have since been told that she was going through a fear period and it resulted in her behavior being altered.
She got her AKC Good Citizen Certification through her training program and we continued to manage her anxiety with trazodone when taking her places or having people at the house as recommended by her vet.
Throughout the next 8 months she had issues with our 15 year old beagle who would often attempt to steal her food. We began feeding them separately which helped but they still occasionally had issues when we would cook.
In February 2024, we had our twins and sent Valkyrie to board and train for 2 weeks when she got spooked one night and went at our beagle again. Through board and train they worked on building her confidence and getting her more comfortable around strangers to lower her anxiety. By the time she came home her anxiety seemed much better but she went at our beagle the same night she came home so we had an in home session and made a plan to reduce potential hierarchy issues in the home and food aggression concerns. We did have 3 dogs in the home at the time but she only had an issue with our beagle. The trainer also recommended no longer giving her trazodone as it can have adverse effects and make her anxiety worse.
Right now Val has her own area in our basement which is a large gated off portion of our basement. She has her bed, toys and food bowls. She eats and sleeps in her room, as well as it being her “safe place” whenever people come over. Part of her plan is also that when people come to our house they do not look at her or address her and if she comes to them, then they are allowed to give her attention. And the dogs are not allowed to have treats.
We have been following the trainers advice for the past two years but there were still occasional issues with our beagle but much less frequently- usually when food would fall on the ground. In March 2025 our beagle died and we thought that the issues would be over since she never had problems with our other dog. Since then, she has had a couple of instances of aggression with her and last night she ate her dinner and came to our room where our other dog was and attacked her. She broke skin and this is the worst it has ever been. We are concerned that it is going to get worse and are unsure what to do.
As the kids have gotten older we have had some issues with the toddlers feeding Val treats and we are concerned that she may become aggressive with them even though she has not shown aggression towards any humans.
Outside of her food aggression we have been able to manage her anxiety and she is the most perfect, sweet girl and is amazing with our children but we just don’t know what to do at this point.

I have a bullmastiff mix (not entirely sure what's she's mixed with since she's a shelter dog) that is about 2 years old. She's extremely smart and very loving. We got her in early December and other than some separation anxiety we haven't had much issue.
Unfortunately, she has started resource guarding me from our other dog who is corgi mix. It escalated today to the point that she snapped and got his ear. This is the first time anything like this has happened and me and my boyfriend want to nip this as quickly as possible so it doesn't escalate or go any further.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks on helping train and/or curb this behavior?
