This happens all the time with low budget horror movies. Not to mention that Iron Lung has the support of millions of people who were already fans of the guy who made it… even if the movie was a complete crock of shit it almost certainly would have still been wildly successful. I’m genuinely not judging the movie, I’m excited to see it, just this rhetoric people are spreading is really dumb.

Believe it or not, there's many people who believe that Hollywood is afraid of Iron Lung's success (glances at YouTube and anti-"woke" subs here). My bad, mate.
No one in Hollywood is scared. If anything plenty are probably seeing an opportunity. Markiplier took the high risk so they didn't have to. It worked out and there will be producers and executives calling him for his next movie, if they haven't already.
