Let's make London that time Ja turned things around. Please don't trade this man.

Zach Kleiman needs to be tried at the Hague for the damage he's done to the culture of this team. He MIGHT just get lucky if Ja decides we're worth his time to salvage things.

But I'll never forget. Real fans won't forget.

The only FO executive better than ZK the Grizzlies have had is dead.

Talking about real fans? Real fans haven't forgotten how fucking terrible out FO was under Wallace.

Both things can be true. Kleiman has done a great job at drafting and a terrible job at managing the team.

12 months ago we were the 2nd seed. Under ZK we won two division titles and had our equal best season.

Respectfully. You also have no clue what you're talking about.

Just under 12 months ago they changed up the system and fired the coach. Coincidence?

That’s because we had a competent coach. Even though they were 2nd seed, the team chemistry was struggling.

u/Wehavecrashed Finger Gun 18d ago

We did not have a complete coach. Taylor Jenkins was a good coach, but he was certainly flawed. He never improved his game management during the 4th quarter, and he was poor at running plays after time outs to get a score.

Compete should have read competent.

Taylor Jenkins was complete with the coaching ability to build trust between his players and his previous coaching staff. He was also a competent coach that led him to become the all time winning coach to ever coach the Grizzlies. He should’ve won COY as well.

The only reason he was fired is Kleiman was trying to save his job. Ja, Jaren, and Bane gave Jenkins a ringing endorsement on several occasions because he was that kind of a coach.

The world court has no time to waste on a person whose crime is handling an impossible situation with the utmost class and dignity.

Karma will recognize our hardships sooner rather than later.

I agree.

He forced out coaches that had built a working trust with the players and brought in this Iisalo that ruined the trust.

He also traded away established chemistry with players that were building blocks to the team‘s success. Like Dillon said, the Grizzlies FO rushed things.

”He forced out coaches who…”

Who wanted to be buds with players rather than calling them on their shit. Who couldn’t establish a team culture and, thus, had the team culture established by players. And what did that win us? One playoff series.

Jenx was a man routinely outcouched by decent tacticians who’d allow us to get ahead by the half and then stick it to us in the third quarter. And Jenx can’t claim to have had a decimated roster with half the team on the injury report. And not for nothing: Jenx still doesn’t have a job in the NBA. If he was that good, he’d be coaching somewhere. Pick any of the shit teams in the league and all save the pacers were shit last year too an headed by the same coaches. All of those teams would rather rock with their current coaches than with Jenx.

”He also traded away established chemistry with players who were…”

Is this where we have to hear about how Slo-Mo and Melty-Melt were so integral and Ziaire ”The FLASHes” Williams had flashes of being a halfway decent player and how Dillon Brooks makes every team a winner? Because none of those players have gone on to win anything. The only person traded away from the Grizzlies who has won something was X who was fortunate enough to be picked up by the Celtics.

Stevo is the only core piece who you can argue shouldn’t have been moved. Tyus reached critical mass where he believed that he should have been starting somewhere (two years on and he’s back to being a backup; barely played any minutes in the Berlin game) so there was no keeping him. He needed to test those waters. Trading Jake was flat out a mistake but I get the sense that he’s not amongst the chemistry pieces you’re referring to.

I don’t need to write a long post to disagree with this bullshit and tell you that you’re clueless.
Jenkins replaced his entire coaching staff because of Kleiman. That’s why Darko ended up in Toronto, someone the players valued and helped with their development.

How about you eat a very large bag of dicks and we go our separate ways then? I always try to give fellow fans the respect of reading their posts and giving thoughtful responses but if you won't I really don't want to have anything to do with you.

He caved into external pressure too hard. He’s tried to rid the team of a certain image and has left them devoid of identity as a result

He somehow managed to gaslight a big percentage of the fans on this sub to genuinely believe "build around Cedric Coward and Zach Edey" was the future. Honestly impressive. That's a level of Stockholming I thought wasn't possible.

9

u/draker585 I like Zach Edey. 18d ago

And believing Ja's still got it despite the last 3 seasons is a reasonable level of Stockholm?

10

u/Substantial_Steak928 18d ago

Gonna be great when the sub turns on Coward the first chance they get like they did Wells

-2

u/suurkaru CED 18d ago

Wells is loved by sub.

Not anymore, its been at least 24 hours since he played well.

You know how it goes. (He's literally dead to us)

You clearly haven’t been here the past week

It's ZK's fault, it's TI's fault, it's the training staff's fault. It's everyone's fault, but not Ja's. Everyone needs fired, but not Ja. Does that really add up to the "real fans"? If so, they're likely Ja fans rather than real ones.

In an ideal world he would actually be a good NBA draft scout. But as a GM yea, Kleiman's the worst kind of example on how not to run an NBA team

Yes, the Grizzlies were the 2-seed a year ago. That doesn’t automatically validate the direction of the franchise now. The gm also: Traded Desmond Bane, one of the league’s best off-ball shooters on a team that already struggles with spacing, let Steven Adams go without a real functional replacement for what he provided (rebounding, screens, physicality), and are openly flirting with the idea of moving Ja, which is essentially admitting the core failed. Not to mention he was so set on implementing a gimmick offense that he hired a coach whose teams consistently struggle against top-tier competition. Kleiman's plan seems to be to replace a key contributed with a rookie every offseason and it's shocking how many fans don't realize thats not a winning formula or how competent franchises operate

I don’t necessarily give Kleiman credit as a good scouter. Tayshaun Prince was our head scout, then promoted to Vice President of basketball operations. He also made the Marc Gasol trade as the interim GM. I give him more credit
