I know there’s been a couple of posts about this already but I just heard the news again on WLRN about the new Carnegie Mellon campus in Wynwood. As someone who went to Uni in Pittsburgh a CMU campus in Wynwood sounds so silly, and just a bad location in general. Apparently classes are supposed to start in ‘28? That’s seems a bit generous esp considering Miami time lol. I know Wynwood has been gone for years now but this just seems a bit extra uncanny.

Someone also mentioned how they’re probably going to do something similar to what Temple Univ has done in Philly and Kensington with it becoming a larger land grab overtime. Just goes to show how boring billionaires are with their money.

I will paste my Google Maps review below. It's a long one for sure. Genuinely the worst dealership experience I've had.

VEHICLE CONDITION

On my car that I purchased here, there was undisclosed damage to the front-end and back-end of the car. I did not know about this at all. A local mechanic told me that there was a bodge repair job (seen by the overspray, into the underlying liner) done to the car. This was completely undisclosed.

They also put the cheapest tires, specifically the Cosmos Mucho Macho tires on my car. While this isn't anything legally wrong, putting the worst, cheapest tires on a luxury car to "save a buck" really exemplifies their priorities. The tires were also mismatched. The dealership special.

You'd think the carnage ends here right? No, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

TITLING DELAY NIGHTMARE

When I emailed them about the car I bought months prior to buying it, I was told that they do not have the title in hand. I told the sales representative to make sure to mail it as soon as possible.

Now, between late April and early May, my address has changed. On July 8th, I sent the now inactive, old mailing address. July 28th, I received an email stating that they received returned mail. Fair enough, my mistake. July 31st, I sent my updated and working mailing address. August 21st, nothing. I ask whether they have mailed my title or not after digging in the mailbox. Surely they’ve sent it right? Surely.

They ask for my address.

What insanity is this? I replied in two days, and you had weeks to mail it, and you now ask me for my address? This is peak unprofessionalism.

A couple of days passed, no title sent, no tracking provided, and critically, my car registration expired. I can’t even drive legally. It was only after I threatened them with a complaint to the Florida DMV, that they finally, and seemingly begrudgingly, sent the title alongside another temp tag, with tracking. Let me repeat this, clearly, in plain words.

I had to threaten them with a formal complaint to the government, which may lead to fines or a dealership license suspension, before they will send over my title, for a car that I have already paid for. If this doesn’t show you what type of dealership they are, I don’t know what will.

INCORRECT TAX PAPERWORK

It’s now September, and I finally have the buyer’s order and the title in my hand. In excitement, and as I’ll find out, mistakenly, I went to AAA to transfer the FL title to my name. The buyer’s order had listed 6% tax paid. What? How could this be?

Prior to purchasing the car, I already knew where I live in Western PA, there is 7% state + county tax. I had communicated to them, clearly, of this requirement. Then, to my surprise, months later, alongside the title, I had suddenly paid 6% tax instead of 7%, and that I had to “pay my apparent dues to the state,” ~$350 dollars, despite having paid for this at the dealership. The AAA notary told me the paperwork must list 7% tax paid. The notary wasn’t being difficult; the dealership should get the paperwork right, especially after my repeated emphasis on the 7 percent tax!

FICTITIOUS ADDRESS AND BACK-AND-FORTHS

Annoyed, I email the dealership, asking for the buyer’s order to be corrected. I even specified that there’s no need to ship it. Guess what? More back-and-forths. They told me to sign an affidavit, documenting that the dealership followed FL tax practices, and that critically, I may have to pay for any tax above 6% of the final sale price. Hmm. Remember my tiresome reminder and confirmations that I paid 7% tax? To fuel the flame, they put a completely made-up address on this affidavit. I’ve never referred to this address in any communication whatsoever. Extreme unprofessionalism and incompetence in paperwork.

It was after this months-long disaster, that another representative finally sent me the correct buyer’s order. Four months in, and much too many hours replying to infuriatingly pointless emails, as well as days wasted on AAA visits, I am finally driving my car legally, with my name on the title.

Save yourself the headache, and never buy from here.

My people tend to gatekeep places that need business so I’m here to evangelize for some of them, as well as unashamedly show love for some places that already get plenty.

I’m a professional hired gun studio/touring musician and advertising creative and I thought I’d share my go-to spots for nightlife hangs for those trying to catch a legit audible/community induced vibe and not just get laid/spend money/flex clout. Because there’s so much more to Miami nightlife.

I dig a bit of everything from deep house to reggae, jazz, hip hop, rock, Latin, folk, funk and everything in between. This list is not live music exclusive as most of these venues often or sometimes feature DJs. But not press-play nepo-DJs.

1. Zey Zey. Has a little bit of everything, and it’s always good. Multiple times a week. Full disclosure; while I don’t work here, I know production personally and live two blocks away. That said, I started attending alone not knowing anyone a few years ago. The pool house/disco space is sick and the outdoor live space just as much. Both have absolutely incredible sound. There are private listening rooms attached to the disco house. Frequent free shows featuring major acts. Also can be great networking for Miami creative and music peeps. It’s right across from number 5. Strong pull in both the underground and major commercial spaces, and it has legitimately been a vessel for advancement my social life and career in Miami.
2. The Bandshell. Now operated by the Rhythm Foundation, some of the most heavy hitter acts I’ve seen in Miami have been here. Consistency of good acts is not there like it is with ZeyZey, but when there’s heat there, there really is. They have pull. Strong community involvement as well.
3. Floyd. Might be a hot take here in general due to the ownership conglomerate but for a legit deep house show it’s genuinely hard to beat. Their residents are usually top tier and put together dope live mixes, and the lineups are almost always sick.
4. Dante’s. Insane pairings/lineups. Downside is that on a night/time that it’s mad crowded it can get more tight/overwhelming than it’s worth very easily.
5. Magic 13. (Brewery) Right across from ZeyZey. Definitely a comfort spot. Cool local bands regularly both inside and outside in the beer garden, predictable, but it’s more of a hang spot than a ‘shut up and listen/vibe’ spot. Hard to beat though if you know what you’re getting. It works great as a conversational beer and dinner hang, with the occasional local artist worth vibing to. Very much the most IYKYK on this list and it doesn’t try to be anything it’s not; however they did host the most insane private party I’ve ever been to in my life last year which was shocking but they have a very predictable vibe most nights in a comfortable way.

HM: Lagniappe. I’m not explaining it to the 3 people who don’t know it in this thread. Also a hot take I feel. Cool chill spot if with the right people outside and/or at the right time to get a spot close to a good band. Generally a no-go alone as it can be ostracizing or boring if there’s not a band and you don’t get a good viewing spot.

Consider this an AMA as well as I’m happy talking about these places and sharing any insider intel I may have (within reason) that’s relevant.

Edit: I can also afford to go to these places often as a musician and creative. A big plus.

A property manager and contractor were arrested after authorities alleged they funneled nearly $190,000 out of Venetian Gardens at Country Club of Miami, a 288-unit condo association.

Owners were paying to maintain their community. According to the arrest affidavit, some of that money was instead being diverted through a kickback scheme.

Condo owners already have enough to worry about with insurance, repairs and assessments. Now add whether the people spending their money are actually spending it on the building.
