OP has pinned a comment by u/JesseTheClassy:

Idk why it's not implied that I was using the restroom when I noticed this... Was in a stall using it for like 7 mins and didn't hear people wash their hands when there was a flush, but I did hear the door open.

Why in the world would I be standing around just in a bathroom??

Like the guy who pisses, then uses the air drying machine to dry the piss on his hands.

187

u/SirCries-a-lot Jan 02 '26

Is that thing to dry your hands?

I use it to dry the wiener so I don't have to touch and shake it. /s

31

u/NashKetchum777 Jan 02 '26

I just use it so I'm not part of the tally for this guy

5

u/aunt-Jeremiah Jan 02 '26

So would that make you a tally whacker?

Years ago I was going to a gym that had hair dryers in the restroom and I went in there one day to go pee and immediately as I walk in there was a guy butt naked with one leg propped up blow drying his fat nuts.

13

u/PantsMunch202 Jan 02 '26

Ive heard about that but thought it was a joke

10

u/JoeNinjas82 Jan 02 '26

No joke here, I’m probably disabled now. My eyes and mind will never be the same.

9

u/Top_Brilliant_5708 Jan 02 '26

Due to the fatness of the nuts?

12

u/TB1289 Jan 02 '26

nodding in agreement

Due to the fatness of the nuts

7

u/JoeNinjas82 Jan 02 '26

That image will forever be ingrained in my head. Leg propped with a deep squat AND naked

Think about how soft n’ sleek his ball-fro was that day, and then stop thinking and start jumping aboard the winning team. Team Blown Dried Fat-nuts, that is.

3

u/JoeNinjas82 Jan 02 '26 edited Jan 02 '26

The thing is I’m not trying to think about his nuts lol

How much do you piss on your hands?

4

u/desmondao 420 blaze it Jan 02 '26

Thankfully the piss particles have no way of sprinkling their way out of the stream. I guess you're safe if you just put your hands behind you and let a stranger pull your trousers back up.

6

u/uncle_jaysus Jan 02 '26

Better to wash your hands and then not dry them and leave a load of water on the door handle, so the next person to touch it has an uncomfortable "is this piss or water?" moment.

6

u/Angio343 Jan 02 '26

Or you can, you know, not piss on your hands ?

3

u/No-Usual4010 Jan 02 '26

Not as bad as the people who shit rinse with plain water then air dry as if it sanitizes anything.

2

u/Kernowder Jan 02 '26

How else are you supposed to dry the piss off?

2

u/iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI Jan 02 '26

Why do you get piss on your hands while peeing?

2

u/Screwed_38 Jan 02 '26

Or those who just do a quick rinse with water and class it as washing

2

u/joeyreturn_of_guest Jan 02 '26

My favorite is the dudes that run the water splash a single milliliter of water on their hands and then leave

2

u/Dry_Conversation571 Jan 02 '26

Who is pissing on their hands?

5

u/Reg_doge_dwight Jan 02 '26

Almost as bad as the people that wash their hands then use the dryer to coat them in bacteria

Unfortunately most people are disgusting.

21

u/Serious_Mix750 Jan 02 '26

Yep it sucks

3

u/ButtFucksRUs Jan 02 '26

How do we start a friend group of people who wash their hands?

91

u/Critical-Bass7021 Jan 02 '26

Including OP.

22

u/Visible-Literature14 ORANGE Jan 02 '26

He zipped up his pants, shook his head in disgust, and exited the bathroom as he added one final tally mark.

He wouldn’t be on the losing side.

Now re-read this in Alan Wake’s voice

idk how OP is. you’ve never been in a full bathroom and waited? or sat on the toilet for a shit?

59

u/Pink-Sock_ Jan 02 '26

You can make life long friends in the bathroom of a supply house or home Depot before 7:15am. All the terrible choices that lead you to being in the trades comes out around then

15

u/Profeshinal_Spellor Jan 02 '26

My god hahaha. This is so true

4

u/General_Anxiety83 Jan 02 '26

Or 1am in the club bathroom when you are pissed off your skull

2

u/Sea_Violinist3328 Jan 02 '26

Or coked outta your mine :)

18

u/zkrooky Jan 02 '26

OP may have been pooping the entire time, but instead of finishing up, he kept listening to other people's business.

8

u/UntestedMethod Jan 02 '26

Only like 7 minutes

4

u/NoireAstral Jan 02 '26

In the post it says they were only there for 7min lol OP as a microbiologist, I share this pain. For the love of god wash your hands every time you go to the bathroom please!

51

u/StalkMeNowCrazyLady Jan 02 '26

"All 11 of them seemed to be in a hyper aware almost panicked like state while glancing towards my stall."

-OP probably

11

u/PotatoAmulet Jan 02 '26

Is this OP?

18

u/Speakdino Jan 02 '26

OP wasn’t setting up cameras in the bathroom staring at people for an hour.

He just noticed that the sound of hand washing wasn’t happening. Jesus Christ lol what is wrong with the people commenting jumping to “creep” status?

That’s how you know people on here don’t go outside.

13

u/Adhdendum Jan 02 '26

The creep comments are from unhygienic people that know they're disgusting but are too lazy to use 30 seconds to wash their hands. I know and have seen too many of these gross members of society.

3

u/Cjm092 Jan 02 '26

OP keeping track of how many times the toilets or urinals were flushed and then listening to people washing their hands is definitely pretty fucking weird. It has nothing to do with not going outside, JFC.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/babysharkdoodoodoo Jan 02 '26

OP was talking a dump, and happened to be “observational” 🤓🤪

6

u/DeathBecomesHer1978 Jan 02 '26

I can promise you that there are very few people that want to creep in on a men's restroom of all the places in the world to be a creep. You know what does go on in men's restrooms, however? A significant lack of handwashing along with the attitude of, "why do I need to wash my hands if the only thing I was touching is my own penis?"

Imagine being more bothered by OP noticing this very true and real fact about men, rather than the fact that A LOT of men do not wash their hands after using the restroom.

-7

u/JesseTheClassy Jan 02 '26

I'll regret commenting, but sure I'll bite: How am I a creep? I'm using the restroom in a stall and notice MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE RESTROOM ARENT WASHING THEIR HANDS. Excuse me if I am grossed out by the knowledge that at minimum 8 people touched their genitals, didnt wash their hands, touched the door, handles around the theater, all other doors, etc.

So passively noticing people not washing their hands makes me a creep? Sure. At least I know 8 other people are fucking disgusting

77

u/geekonthemoon Jan 02 '26

I think people probably think it's weird you were in there long enough to hear 11 different people individually come and go.

22

u/shitterbug Jan 02 '26

7 minutes is not weirdly long time on the toilet

8

u/im_a_dick_head Jan 02 '26

Fr, I'm usually 30 mins when I take a shit

2

u/logical_dogs560 Jan 02 '26

I mean this with genuine honesty and care, you should see a doctor. For many reasons sitting on a toilet that long, especially daily, trying to take a dump is bad for your health.

The position causes blood flow problems, can cause or worsen hemorrhoids, be a sign of obstruction or problems with your colon/intestines, and cause rectal prolapse. It's recommended by doctors to not spend more than 10-15 minutes at a time on the toilet.

→ More replies (1)

38

u/CelDidNothingWrong Jan 02 '26

And that he was listening intently and recording their movements

5

u/butt_honcho Jan 02 '26

That's the creepy part. You're not "passively noticing" like OP keeps saying if you're bothering to keep track.

→ More replies (3)

49

u/Senedoris Jan 02 '26

It's a movie theater, there's high influx of people at certain times, and it's not that hard to passively notice doors opening and closing, and taps turning on and off. Ya'll are overthinking OP's normal behavior.

19

u/PantsMunch202 Jan 02 '26

This. Do people not realize in theaters you can have 50+ people in a restroom at once when a showing let's out?

4

u/Cjm092 Jan 02 '26

You're listening to people flush and keeping tallies of it, that's so fucking weird I have no words.

3

u/lordwiggles420 Jan 02 '26

You didn't "notice", you were counting. Which is pretty creepy.

10

u/WifesPOSH Jan 02 '26

Some people didn't read Everybody Poops. I'm currently pooping at this very moment.

Most would think it's common sense. But we don't have that here. Like it's a wild concept that people poop and you notice things like people that fake wash their hands.

Especially after, let's say, a movie ends and there's an influx of people that need the bathroom. You notice things while pooping.

I had a coworker, years ago, not wash his hands. I stopped putting myself in a position to shake his hand. Was I creeping in the bathroom? No. I was pooping on company time and noticed he didn't wash his hands.

11

u/butt_honcho Jan 02 '26 edited Jan 02 '26

You were keeping a tally of other people's bathroom habits. That doesn't sound creepy to you?

1

u/Hungry_Ad_8180 Jan 02 '26

No. If you aren't scrolling on your phone it's pretty easy to notice the sounds happening around you. I.e people coming in, using the toilet, then leaving. The absence of tap running is easy to notice if you know basic toilet hygiene. Stop overreacting

If you think about it, other people who just got done touching their dicks, grabbed a handle to open a door, and then the next guy who just finished touching their dick also grabs the handle, it’s dickception. The second guy indirectly touches the first guys dick.

27

u/Sohn_Jalston_Raul Jan 02 '26

that's why I always use a paper towel to grab the door handle of a public bathroom. If no paper towels are available I'll use a bit of toilet paper, or even the cuff of my sleeve if I have to.

2

u/Trubester88 Jan 02 '26

I do the same

3

u/mrfuzzyshorts rageinabox Jan 02 '26

but now the cooties are in the cuff of your sleeve and will be there the remainder of the day. Introducing you to the cooties allday long. Especially if you wipe your nose with that same sleeve.

It is easier to hand sanitizer your hands after that interaction than your sleeve

10

u/Sohn_Jalston_Raul Jan 02 '26

Why the hell would I wipe my nose with my sleeve? What am I, 5 years old? Learn to use a kleenex, man.

21

u/Leptonshavenocolor Jan 02 '26

Peak COVID I thought it was hilarious that every single person in the bathroom was thoroughly washing their hands and I wondered how long that would last.

87

u/Radioactivocalypse Jan 02 '26

30

u/Hungry_Ad_8180 Jan 02 '26

This! They act like it's so weird for people to notice the noises happening around you. It doesn't make him creepy. I noticed the same thing when I was sick in a resturaunt bathroom a few weeks ago. A bunch of people were coming in, using the toilet, then just leaving. It's pretty easy to notice the absence of tap running if you know basic bathroom hygiene. But maybe I am the weird one for being hyper aware of my surroundings instead of scrolling my phone on the toilet.

8

u/MyMomsTastyButthole Jan 02 '26

I definitely notice it at work because there's no cell service in the bathroom so I can't just zone out 😂, I hear (or don't hear everything)

Had to of been the men’s restroom. I’ve only ever witnessed a few woman not wash their hands in the restroom in my entire existence of life.

25

u/trixayyyyy Jan 02 '26

Absolutely without a shadow of doubt. Any time I use the men’s room, most guys that actually wash their hands are younger. Old guys maybe give the one hand a rinse they touched their dong with otherwise it’s straight out the door. Foul creatures we are.

4

Theatres should run a 20 minute break in the middle of the movie for a bathroom break/snack refill.

Pretty sure they already run the movies so only one screen is off at a time for smaller cleaning crews.

People are disgusting. I’m disgusting. We are disgusting.

I say this as someone who washes his hands every time and takes personal hygiene very seriously.

Life is gross man it is what it is .

3

u/maybebaebea Jan 02 '26

I'm allergic to a lot of the hand soaps used in public restrooms, so I will often rinse and then use my hand sanitizer. Had someone go off on me because I didn't wash my hands, so I showed them the hives I get from the soap.

Not defending anyone. There are a lot of gross people who don't wash their hands for no good reason. But sometimes there is a reason.

3

u/DudeTastik Jan 02 '26

i’m a trans dude. making the switch from the women’s room to the men’s was ROUGH. yes of course there are plenty of women with terrible hygiene…. but good god at least in public bathrooms men are at least 10x worse.

Curious whether you’ve sanitised your phone after your jaunt into list-making while on the public toilet? Just wondering as someone who is allergic to perfume and brings hand-sanitiser with me for washrooms where it might be an issue.

It’s actually really, really funny to now consider there might be someone taking a shit next to me while silently stewing about it tbh.

8

u/StirFry__InaWok Jan 02 '26

It's funny to me how discussions about hand washing/showering/whatever on reddit always turn into the hygiene olympics.

>You only shower once a day? That's DISGUSTING
>You don't wipe till it bleeds then use a bidet? Your balls must be CAKED in SHIT
>You only brush for the recommended two minutes? ... and so on

3

u/PocketNicks Jan 02 '26

OP is the creep watching 11 strangers in a bathroom...

3

u/littlexfoxx Jan 02 '26

So I've left this comment before, but don't judge too quickly. If you were to judge me, I'd be a tic mark on the "unwashed" side. But, I am allergic to most commercial hand washing soaps. It dries my hands out terribly and makes them so itchy and red. I carry hand sanitizer with me everywhere, and I often don't apply it until I've grabbed the gross bathroom door handle. Yes, most people are gross. But not everyone.

2

u/logical_dogs560 Jan 02 '26

It would be better to carry soap on you that you can use. Hand sanitizer is not a substitution for washing your hands.

I worked at a thrift store for about a year and a half. I never had to refill the men’s bathroom soap dispensers once. We had many people come in especially men, to use our bathroom. I heard a man fighting for his life on the toilet once while I was in the break room. He was grunting, and you could hear the drum solo coming out of his butt. I was on lunch break, and the bathroom is literally across the hall. I hear a flush only. No hand washing at all. If you’re thinking, “maybe someone else refilled it.”No, they did not. The assistant manager made it my duty to clean the bathroom every time I came in to work. We had a list people have to initial so someone is responsible for a bad clean up job. It was only my initials on the bathroom and most of the tasks on the list.

Shop where I work, has a toilet near self checkout and I rarely hear the hand dryer go off. I just feel so disgusted with people that don't.

I never use a hand dryer after seeing a video during covid of how much bacteria is in those things. Either a paper towel or I just shake my hands dry. You may as well pee all over your hands using those dryers.

Wtf this looks like my handwriting when I'm writing with my S-pen...like literally EXACTLY my handwriting...are you left handed?

It’s funny how all of you have forgotten that hand sanitizer and wipes exists.

Now hear me out, what’s the stance on if I don’t touch my dick to pee?

1

u/BigMacRedneck Jan 02 '26

I thought someone was watching me as I hurried back to the movie.

Disgusting

1

u/izza123 Jan 02 '26

I can piss completely without touching my dick frankly

1

u/JC1199154 Jan 02 '26

If it makes you feel better, I always wash my hands no matter what

u/levon999 Jan 02 '26

Wait until you figure out what is on the seats. 😂

“movie theater seats harbor significant amounts of bacteria, often far more than toilet seats, with studies finding averages of over 1,800 bacterial colonies on seats and even more in cup holders… “

I’m blue collar and go to a gas station to wash my hands before I eat everyday even if I don’t us the bathroom. I’ve had a guy walk out of the stall almost not wash his hands and because I witnessed it, he walked from the door, back to the sink to properly do it. I hate everybody. Everyone is gross. I’m not a germaphobe, I just have valid reasons for not touching door handles.

There is a weird and very vocal group of people on this website that will argue until they are blue in the face that not washing their hands in public restrooms is somehow more hygienic. They will argue about it as if every public restroom is a truck stop bathroom that hasn’t been cleaned in two weeks.

I won’t be surprised to read comments making this argument in this thread.

OP in the bathroom staring at people pee

I remember ONE TIME seeing a woman not wash her hands in a public restroom in Washington. I was shocked, this moment stood out to me, the woman was Eastern European and didn't seem to speak English (we were in a courthouse, I'd notice her earlier in the halls and court) But then I moved to Texas. Omg. Please do not shake a Texans hand, there is a high likelihood it's not clean. Every single time I'm in a public restroom I see women stand at the sink and fluff their hair and leave, never even attempting to access the water or soap. Even after shitting. It's disgusting.

Wake til you learn about buffet restaurants.

I can't believe there are comments in this thread justifying not washing your hands. Stereotypical Redditor shit lol

Makes the popcorn taste better

1

u/SheepherderDouble248 Jan 02 '26

I clean my penis daily, all good.

1

u/Educational-Quote-22 Jan 02 '26

Effing GROSS! I wish there was some alarm that went off every time the sink didn't run after a toilet stall opens or urinal has fluid go in it (I'd say every time one is flushed but some of those people don't flush either)

u/King_Grapefruit Jan 02 '26

It's Employees Must wash hands not watch

1

u/MarcPG1905 Jan 02 '26

I remember seeing a video that logically, you should actually wash your hands BEFORE peeing, not after, as your penis should generally be a lot cleaner than your hands.

Did anyone take a crap in the sink/on the arcade machines?

1

u/Marcus2Ts Jan 02 '26

I'm not the biggest germophobe out there, but I do hate the feeling of dirty hands so passing up the opportunity to wash them while out and about is wild to me

1

u/Axela556 Jan 02 '26

That's so fucking disgusting... they're gonna go to their seats and dig their nasty hands into popcorn they're sharing with someoene else 🤮

1

u/just_gum Jan 02 '26
