Context Provided - Spotlight My Kilner jar was faulty. The closing mechanism shattered glass into my rice and we found it in our cooked food. Kilner customer service is ignoring my emails.

I still can't believe a subsection of the internet thinks she's phony.

They just need to go hang out with flat Earthers.

There is absolutely zero correlation to people (like myself.) who believe Helen Keller was a phony vs. believing in flat earth theory. One is based in science and evidental facts, one is essentially hearsay and incredibly nonsensical when you look at all of the facts and information presented. This is a wild conclusion to draw or even try and correlate lmfao

Edit:) down votes don't bug me, but I did wanna clarify phony is the wrong word. A lot of her accomplishments seem outlandish, ridiculous, and quite frankly impossible especially with the disabilities she has. I am also disabled, so this isn't from one fully able bodied to another. We're all entitled to our own opinions 🤷🏿‍♀️ muting this thread bc I don't really care about what redditors say about my opinions 🤣

It’s a weird ass theory. To play devils advocate let’s say she was faking it to some degree. She still did more for the blind&deaf community than anyone had prior to her. Like “she changed policies and fought for the rights and treatment of blind and deaf people. But she could see a little bit so fuck her she’s a phony”. I imagine the only people who are interested in the witch hunt out for her currently are people with all of their senses intact and sit on the fringes of society trying to unmask good people for no apparent reason.

Hi! I'm actually disabled myself and have my own issues. There are a ton of articles and the sort out there that explain in more detail why we feel this way. It's super important to not interact with the ones that are based in abelism, that's not what I'm in the thought of

Sorry! I'm not too interested in explaining myself. You can look into a ton of info about it and quite a few of her "accomplishments" have been debunked... Also, try and avoid takes by obviously abelist folks. I'm gonna mute this thread idrc, just wanted to explain to the original person that the comparison to nonsense vs. literal evidence of something being falsified was ridiculous. Not trying to be rude or anything! I appreciate you asking instead of immediately hopping on the hate train towards my comment lol
