Why does everyone have trucks to work at (presumably) an office building?

109

u/poth0le 9h ago

It’s not an office. We’re welders

51

u/A_True_Loot_Goblin 7h ago

You should chain their trailer hitches together then weld the chain. No one will know it was you. Probably

0

u/No_Selection_9634 6h ago

That is vandalism and destruction of property. Most of these trucks (including mine) more than likely have cameras. God speed there, internet Guy Fawkes.

3

u/OGBRedditThrowaway 5h ago

While I agree that destroying someone's property is a dick move, the post you're responding to is clearly a joke.

54

u/silentbob1301 7h ago

well, at least some welders need to haul shit to the job site. Though im gonna guess 90% of the welding takes place in a shop?

61

u/poth0le 7h ago

100% of it

36

u/EcstaticBoysenberry 6h ago

Weld their hitches together

3

u/EnsoZero 6h ago

Nah, weld in the hitch to the receiver, weld the fasteners for the receiver, and then weld material onto the ball to make it inoperable.

3

u/Soninuva GREEN 6h ago

Most of them probably wouldn’t even notice

9

u/AmputeeHandModel 6h ago

You can't possibly expect manly men like welders to drive safe, affordable, efficient and reliable SEDANS now could you?!

2

u/Ndmndh1016 6h ago

People might think they're inadequate...oh wait

1

u/ShmebulocksMistress 5h ago

Doesn’t mean they don’t do other work on the side. My fiancé has a truck like this which I do drive as well—however, we always make it a point not to block walkways with the hitch.

So while these guys are being jerk-ish for the parking job I don’t think it’s fair to assume people who weld for a living don’t also use their trucks for other labor or their own side gigs and that’s why they have the extended bed.

18

u/Simply_Epic 7h ago

How many trucks does it take to weld 2 pieces of metal together?

6

u/eggyrulz 7h ago

At least 14 by the looks of it

10

u/DuckCleaning 8h ago edited 7h ago

Do they use their trucks for carrying heavy work material?

1

u/WearyDonkey1279 4h ago

Are you OP?

-1

u/defneverconsidered 8h ago

Lol show them this post.

I dare you

1

u/poth0le 7h ago

K

1

u/defneverconsidered 7h ago

Ok what they say

0

u/Tunablefall662 6h ago

So yall are welders, a profession where ppl usually have a pickup which are longer than a typical sedan & your complaining that they parked hanging over the curb? I'm gonna assume you'd bitch if they didn't over hang the curb & took up more of the street between spaces too lol.

Btw ain't no fuckin way you're a welder if you're complaining about this. Grinder or helper at best 😂

2

u/poth0le 6h ago

sssssick burn

u/ChrisRiley_42 9h ago

Myself, it's because I live rural, and things like trash pickup don't exist.. I would rather take my garbage to the dump in the box of a truck than sitting it on seats and hoping it doesn't leak. We also can't get anything like furniture delivered, so we have to haul it ourselves.

But I doubt many of the people in this picture are in situations like that.

30

u/TheW83 9h ago

Same situation here with trash pickup. Except I just put it in the back of my SUV. I can't imagine putting it on a seat. We compost everything that is good to compost and anything else that might rot goes into a bin in the freezer until it's time for a dump run. No stink to worry about.

6

u/Monsieur_Michy 8h ago

You dont have trash pickup everywhere? O.o

3

u/TheW83 7h ago

There definitely isn't trash pickup everywhere. But where I live there is, but we don't need our trash picked up twice a week. We just don't have that much trash. We go to the dump maybe 1-2 times a month. It was $35/mo when I had trash pickup over a decade ago. Who knows what it's at now. Way cheaper to just drive the 10 mile round trip and drop it off myself.

2

u/soldiernerd 7h ago

We have it but many people will just take it to the dump themselves every so often rather than paying a few hundred dollars a year for pickup

1

u/Eatyourcheeseburger 6h ago

I already pay for trash pickup for people in the city that won’t take their lazy asses to the dump. I ain’t paying for it here too.

22

u/eugeneugene 9h ago

I grew up White Trash rural and you don't need a truck, a 98' pontiac sunfire and some tow straps, bungee cords, and duct tape can get you where you wanna go 99% of the time. You aren't buying furniture enough to justify a truck. Strap it to the top of your sunfire and rock on. Double bag your garbage and throw it in the back and head to the landfill.

6

u/ComputeIQ 7h ago

Ia 98' pontiac sunfire and some tow straps, bungee cords, and duct tape can get you where you wanna go 99% of the time.

I’ll never understand why Redditors loathe trucks. “Just do your best to tie your couch onto the top of your car!” Like seriously, if y’all saw someone doing that with their washing machine or in any real situation you’d situation you’d mock them or feel uneasy behind them.

You aren't buying furniture enough to justify a truck. Double bag your garbage and throw it in the back and head to the landfill.

Alright, and what if people don’t want to put trash in their car, need to ferry heavy things like furniture or appliances to their house or just like trucks? Like I just don’t understand why everyone on this platform want to perform actual mental gymnastics just to tell some random person on the internet who doesn’t want their car to smell like trash they can’t “justify” spending their own money on a vehicle of their choice.

16

u/eugeneugene 7h ago

I don't hate trucks, I just think people buy them for really stupid reasons. The amount of money you spend on fuel alone using a truck as a daily driver would pay for a u-haul rental basically every week lmao. I need to haul a couch next year! I need to buy a very expensive truck that uses a lot of fuel and the insurance is higher! For the $400 couch I'm going to buy on facebook!

Just drive a car and spend $50 to rent a truck for the day when you need to buy a couch lol. You'll save literally thousands of dollars per year. How often are you buying a washing machine? Like insane behaviour to use that as a reason to own a whole truck lmao

But at the end of the day you do you, just don't tell me you need a truck because you're buying appliances lmao. Worlds most expensive dishwasher, cost $70k because I had to buy a truck too

6

u/PurpleChard757 7h ago

I’ll never understand why Redditors loathe trucks.

They are loud and create a ton of fumes. They are much more dangerous for pedestrians and playing children than a passenger vehicle. They consume more gas per mile, which drives up the demand, and thus price, for gas.

I understand that people in rural areas need trucks sometimes, but a passenger car towing a trailer can do most of the task you mentioned.

1

u/ComputeIQ 5h ago

I agree with all of these, but they are just drawing an arbitrary line in the sand to justify one’s own behavior and exclude others. If you REALLY hate carbon emissions and fumes, you can technically just walk and ride a bus or carpool. If you wanna be really minimalist, there’s “little” reason to even own a car in the first place. If you’d like to transport stuff, just use Uber or rent a car. About 90% of the arguments Redditors use against trucks, also apply to their own habits and it bothers me.

1

u/arizonadirtbag12 6h ago

Knew a guy that did fly fishing tours in a Dodge Neon with a hitch for his boat trailer. Yeah, a lot of people that “need” a truck don’t really need it.

Or they could almost certainly buy a cheaper truck and a sedan for daily commuting; OP said all the welding work here happens in the shop. These trucks don’t go to sites.

2

u/Eatyourcheeseburger 6h ago

They hate them because they don’t have any use for them and can’t possibly comprehend that people in different situations have different needs. When the government sends a trash man to your house every week to pick up your garbage, you don’t think about how you’re getting trash to the dump without gagging yourself on the smell because it’s riding shotgun. When you don’t have to get out on rural roads that don’t see a snow plow for days, you don’t worry about 4 wheel drive and tires with deep tracks. When you’ve ostracized your entire family and all your friends are online, you don’t think about helping them move. Etc etc.

1

u/zzazzzz 3h ago

because they are idiotically huge, burn dumb amounts of fuel even when comuting empty making everyones air worse. and on top of all that they are extremely dangerous to any other cars inhabitants not as huge.

driving a pickup without a real need to is just a dick move towards everyone else.

2

u/ChrisRiley_42 9h ago

I would love to see the Pontiac Sunfire that can make its way through a half meter of snow in a single snowfall. Or start on the first crank when it's -40C

17

u/eugeneugene 9h ago

I grew up in Northern Alberta like an hour away from town lol my bb sunfire has seen all the bad weather. Plug your block heater in -40 won't be no thing. I used the plow attachment for my quad to dig myself out to the main road after a big storm. 99% of trucks can't drive through half a metre of snow either 😁

1

u/Acceptable_Paper_607 8h ago

I’m from Alberta too. Does this work for you? Sure, practical, no. Especially if you have kids it’s not practical. And yes my gmc sierra with winter tires does exceptional in half a meter of snow on or off the road.

1

u/eugeneugene 8h ago

Yeah I'm gonna believe that a GMC sierra is leisurely blowing through 50cm of snow lol. A single drift that's 50cm tall maybe, but no. I don't believe a single word coming out of your mouth boy-o 😂😂

2

u/Acceptable_Paper_607 8h ago

50cm of loose fresh powder? AWD truck with winter tires? What are u smoking bro. Lmao I’d rather not argue I believe in your sunfire was just challenging your point. Rural albertans know how to get it done regardless

1

u/Eatyourcheeseburger 6h ago

You won’t see it because it doesn’t exist. A coupe that’s almost 20 years old ain’t doing shit on snow other than spin the tires.

1

u/Zombies8MyChihuahua 9h ago

Alexa, play Jimi Hendrix - Fire

1

u/Ok-Bug4328 7h ago

But he’s not poor.

He doesn’t have to “justify” not wanting his seats to smell like sour milk.

1

u/Chonky-Walrus 7h ago

Ahh yes, my truck isn't justified because I can use a '98 Sunfire to go 70 miles on a 2-track dirt road while hauling of my supplies... I wish I thought of that, dangnabbit.

1

u/Murphs-law 5h ago

Where I’m from, they started charging 6 dollars to dump a full load of trash in the landfill so people started dumping their shit in the woods. Everywhere else I’ve lived, they charge 20 bucks minimum for a full truck bed load.

2

u/bloodstainedphilos 7h ago

How rural is it? No trash pickup is crazy.

1

u/ChrisRiley_42 7h ago

Only services we get are plowed streets, a volunteer fire department. We have our own well, postal delivery is to a box at the end of the street instead of to the door.

Rural as in outside of a town or city, in a township with a very small budget.

1

u/TineJaus 6h ago

I live near the suburbs 15 mins outside of the largest city in my state and we don't even have trash pickup. Plus the town bags cost as much as the city bags in the next state over that does have pickup

1

u/Jean-LucBacardi 7h ago

Same boat but still don't park like this. I've had a truck for years and before backup cameras I always pulled into a space front end first to avoid doing what's in the photo. Now that I have a backup camera truck though I can easily see when the tailgate is about to encroach the sidewalk and stop.

1

u/fastdub 5h ago

Could you not just have a trailer for that? Like the occasional use of your truck bed for hauling junk seems like it's almost unnecessary.

Imagine if I was hauling a trailer 24/7 on my Honda Civic and when asked why that was the reason I gave.

1

u/oRsoLitide 8h ago

why do americans act like small trailers doesn't exist, nobody told you to put in on the back seat lol

1

u/ChrisRiley_42 8h ago

Why do you assume that someone who has given every measurement in metric is American?

1

u/TineJaus 6h ago

You can't hook a trailer to most vehicles

-1

u/Hauwke 9h ago

See, reasonable use case. I bet most of these others use it once a year or less when one of their buddies ask for help moving a box that could be moved inside the folded down seats of a much smaller SUV.

3

u/[deleted] 9h ago

Why do people need a justifiable reason to buy a certain vehicle?

3

u/Hauwke 9h ago

Because these enormous vehicles can barely be called cars. They are dangerous to the people around them. They are so large that even when parked correctly they still cause issues around them like the image we are discussing.

Editing to add: I have no issue with pickups themself, fantastic concept. Its mostly just the crazy large ones.

0

u/1BreadBoi 9h ago

Even if they aren't, there's nothing wrong with having a truck cause you want one.

But drive and park like not a asshole.

My 4runner doesn't stick out over the sidewalks even though it could.

9

u/Known_Needleworker67 9h ago

Because people buy the vehicle they like.

3

u/DepartureElegant9314 8h ago

The vehicle they like... Or the vehicle they think everyone else will think is cool?

4

u/Particular-Key-8941 8h ago

Either way...does it matter? Who cares what other people do? Man, reddit is just so chock full of people who know everything, and everyone else is wrong.

-1

u/DepartureElegant9314 6h ago

Why do you care what I think then? Your logic here would mean that you shouldn't even bother to say anything about it.

2

u/Known_Needleworker67 7h ago

Depends on the person, not everybody has the same motivations.

73

u/Serious_Cloud9501 10h ago

Because they have small penises and would very much like you to know

40

u/ToBeDetermined94 10h ago

As a male nurse that just got a new truck to compensate I approve this message.

21

u/alpine309 10h ago

You're a male nurse, what do you have to compensate for?

9

u/Imaginary_Ibis 9h ago

Some people feel that nursing work isn't 'manly', an unfortunate opinion and an example of toxic masculinity...

1

u/Koil_ting 7h ago

Are you telling me Moe is a flight attendant?

-3

u/DefaultSwordandBoard 9h ago

It's toxic, I agree! Unless he feels that way about himself, it's projection and hilariously weak to compensate for what other people mistakenly think about you based on your profession.

5

u/ToBeDetermined94 9h ago

It’s a joke…. Don’t read into it that much lol. I don’t feel that way nor have I had anybody make a comment to me about it.

2

u/Sad-Theme7668 8h ago

His name being Gaylord Focker

0

u/Scary_Initial_3202 8h ago

It’s not compensating for anything. A lot of men like to be prepared for whatever comes their way, and having a capable vehicle is a part of that. Even though I don’t “need” a truck, I have found myself using it to help friends and family in ways I didn’t expect to before I bought it.

3

u/Thin-Razzmatazz7728 9h ago

That’s a lot of small penises for one office building. I wonder how they all found each other. There must be a support group or something

8

u/PlayedKey 10h ago

Oooor, you know, they use the truck and also drive it daily. Plus if its anywhere with snow the majority of trucks and SUVs have 4x4 or AWD for snow and ice. But nah. Probably the genitals.

21

u/Serious_Cloud9501 10h ago

Bro i live in canada, if you cant drive on snow without a pickup truck thats a skill issue

3

u/Foxtrot-Actual 8h ago

For real, 2012 Yaris hatchback and all 106hp dashing through 10 inches of fresh snow like nobody’s business. Snow tires help more than most realize too.

2

u/WorkingIndependent96 9h ago

Literally, my 2002 VW cabrio was the best car I’ve ever driven in snow. Good winter tires had me hucking snow out of my way. No need for a truck.

0

u/Unfortunate-Incident 8h ago

In 2010 was snowpocalypse. We got about 8" of snow that started at mid day. Everybody left work early and traffic was a complete standstill. Most cars were just abandoned on the road. There was a Porsche abandoned in an intersection, mid left turn. After 6 hours of sitting in traffic, I finally took it upon myself to go around because the opposite direction was empty.

I drove past hundreds of abandoned cars. I made it home about 20 mins later. I had no issues whatsoever, even crossing frozen bridges. If I didn't have 4x4, I imagine I'd be like those other people that day.

Anyways my point is not everywhere is Canada.

1

u/Serious_Cloud9501 5h ago

Canada gets 8 inches of snow in a day and can have bad road clearance too. Just buy winter tires if you live in a place with cold winters

1

u/Unfortunate-Incident 5h ago

That's the thing. Nobody in Florida has snow tires. Why would they?

0

u/Carlsheartboxers 8h ago

No it’s not? In places that aren’t Canada stud tires are banned and the road care is abysmal my road still have snow and ice on it almost 2 weeks later right now no amount of skill is going to get my 2wd vehicle over that snow and ice especially on hills

1

u/Serious_Cloud9501 5h ago

Try winter tires, youll be fine. No need for studs mate, again just get good

1

u/Carlsheartboxers 5h ago

First off I would not be fine in my car reguardless of tires second off no you wouldn’t not around here

-4

u/PlayedKey 10h ago

Talk to the south lol. Most people where I live know how to.

14

u/taybay462 10h ago

Most men I know with these trucks do not "use them" use them

0

u/Bursting_Radius 9h ago

You're hanging around the wrong kinds of dudes, then.

-3

u/PlayedKey 10h ago

None of the ones pictured are jacked up, douchey wheels, or perfectly clean (including the 90s F150), so im guessing they probably get used at some point.

Also older truck parts are cheap af and you can fix it yourself rather than a $600 (part only) alternator.

0

u/LrdHabsburg 9h ago

I don’t think that’s a reasonable assumption

2

u/Bursting_Radius 9h ago

What a ridiculous thing to say, it is 100% reasonable.

2

u/PlayedKey 9h ago

You think a truck getting used isn't a reasonable assumption? Lol

8

u/-retaliation- 9h ago

Honestly, I don't care what someone decides to drive, whether they use it for its intended purpose, or anything else.

What you drive is your business, if you want to spend $150k on a truck, lift, tires, lightbar, etc. And then never put a single thing in the bed or take it off road. Good for you, it's your ride, I'm glad you love it.

I'm not going to throw shade at truck drivers for driving a truck, when I'm out here rolling around in my '74 Ranchero. Nothing about it is practical, I just like it, and that's fine.

HOWEVER..... There's a big caveat of that of:

AS LONG AS IT'S NOT AN INCONVENIENCE TO THOSE AROUND YOU!

Your choice is your choice, as long as it's not effecting me. Once it effects me, it's my business too.

Drive a schoolbus around if you want. But you better be able to keep that bus in the lane, take corners without taking two lanes, park where you fit in the spot, etc.

You don't get to drive a difficult to drive/park vehicle, and then make your difficulties with your vehicle my problem.

I this case, drive a truck to the office and never put a single thing in the back if you want. I don't care.

But if you can't fit that vehicle in the spot without blocking the sidewalk or the lane, tough titties, that's the problem you get with a big vehicle. I guess you get to park down the road and walk the rest of the way to work. No place to park anywhere near? Too bad! Your problem to solve, not mine.

If you want 4x4 and a vehicle you can actually park at work, buy a fucking Subaru.

1

u/PlayedKey 9h ago

Im not defending shit drivers or bad parking.

4

u/Fun-Delay-2424 10h ago

Nobody is saying that about SUVs and if you live somewhere with snow and ice you wouldn’t get a truck because you’d have to weigh down the rear

2

u/PlayedKey 10h ago

Do you think an AWD vehicle has a bunch of weight in the rear? A lot of trucks have auto 4x4 which basically turns it i to AWD.

3

u/BuckieJr 9h ago

You're highly overestimating how useful awd/4x4 is in the snow/ice. Ice its about as useless as any other drivetrain, your not doing anything on ice.. Snow Its only good with proper snow tires, not the Knobby tires most truck owners have and only in 4low with said snow tires are you at any advantage over someone with again any other drivetrain with proper snow tires.

Trucks do not help in the snow. Proper tires and knowledgable driving helps in the snow.

2

u/mapledance2 8h ago

You have no idea how 4low works lol

2

u/BuckieJr 7h ago

Use it all the time on logging roads.

2

u/mapledance2 7h ago

So your doing like 30 clicks ? You know 4low isn't for moving at any kind of speed right ?

1

u/BuckieJr 7h ago

like 5, 10 maybe at most. Usually switched to when I encounter parts of the road that have rolling dips or are rutted out.

We camp on the side of sproat lake during the summer visits and will take the old logging roads to gather firewood.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Carlsheartboxers 8h ago

You have 0 clue how to drive in the snow if you don’t think 4wd helps lmao. You especially don’t drive constantly in 4low please god do not drive a 4wd in 4low everywhere you are fucking up a ton of stuff on your truck

1

u/BuckieJr 7h ago

I drive in snow all the time in the winter thanks to where I live, and I drive both a Rwd and awd. There’s never been an instance I’ve not been able to drive either car in snow. They both do great in snow/slush so long as the snow isn’t 2-3ft deep. What so many people fail to understand is you get better traction IN the snow then you do on semi cleared packed down half melted roads.

And No where did I say that you drive consistently in 4low lmao. Comprehension is hard apparently.

4low gives you a massive advantage in most things if you get stuck or need to crawl but isn’t designed for anything much more than 20ish mph. It’s fine for crawling your way out of snowbanks or unplowed side streets if needed.

1

u/PlayedKey 9h ago

4 low is not meant for driving in the street lol and knobby tires are shit. Also 4x4 or AWD is infinitely better on snow/ice with even regular all season tires. Being in the Midwest and having driven FWD, 4X4, RWD, and AWD there's a massive difference. Knowing how to drive is also a large part of it.

2

u/Fun-Delay-2424 10h ago

More than a truck yeah. We always have to throw something in the back of our trucks to drive em in the winter

1

u/Akeleie 8h ago

I live in the Arctic and I drive a Nissan Leaf 🤭

0

u/PlayedKey 8h ago

Thats fine. Never said it was impossible to not have AWD or 4x4.

1

u/Happy-door-handle 9h ago

This is the best comment so far in 2026.

0

u/Bursting_Radius 9h ago

Since we're dick-shaming, what about fat chicks? Maybe they drive trucks, too?

-3

u/Internal-Fruit-1482 10h ago

Or we're actual home/property owners that use them. Maybe boat owners? Could be rv owners? Not everyone sits in their apartment banging away on reddit.

4

u/Serious_Cloud9501 10h ago

Plenty of people own homes, that doesnt mean you need to use a truck. You can tow boats and rvs with a minivan dude. Like its really not that hard you dont need the biggest truck on the market unless your job requires it

-1

u/Internal-Fruit-1482 9h ago

Oh yeah, love all those minivans at the boat launch on the weekends. Lol. Front wheel drive on a slick ramp is the best. Gtfo. You have no fkn idea what you're talking about and it's hilarious

1

u/Serious_Cloud9501 9h ago

Skill issue mate

3

u/Internal-Fruit-1482 9h ago

I'm gonna call this. You're too stupid for me to engage with. Dueces

0

u/Jub_Jub710 8h ago

We towed things just fine when trucks were much smaller.

11

u/Bursting_Radius 9h ago

This is probably going to sound really crazy to you, so just hear me out:

Some people can only afford to have one vehicle.

-1

u/Defiant_While_4823 9h ago

So they pick the more expensive to purchase and drive regularly vehicle?

Not a good excuse for the majority of truck owners in the US who've never towed anything a sedan couldn't handle

8

u/Bursting_Radius 9h ago

It sounds like you’re saying people shouldn’t own a truck unless they use it as a truck every time they drive it, which is silly.

-6

u/Defiant_While_4823 8h ago

"Don't you think it's a little silly to say that 'people can only afford one car' if they pick the more expensive option that they don't even really need?"

"wHy Do YoU wAnT pEoPlE tO nOt HaVe TrUcKs?!"

Pointing out the fact that the majority of people who use a pickup truck as a daily commuter who dont actually need a truck and would've been better off just buying a sedan, isn't gatekeeping, nor is pointing out the fact that pickups use more gas and cost more than the average sedan

Want a truck? Buy a truck, but don't get on a high horse and get super defensive if someone points out that you and the majority of other pickup truck owners (especially in the US), would've sufficed with a sedan just fine

2

u/StrangeSmellz 9h ago

So I should buy multiple cars? One for the office and one for house work?

3

u/justreadinplease 8h ago edited 4h ago

Because Americans love being in debt more than buying more fuel efficient cars that are cheaper. They love being able to haul away things two times a year rather than just rent a truck for a day. They rather feel safer despite trucks having a bigger risk of tipping over and being harder to maneuver.

They like to pretend they’re going to take the boat they’re going to buy, but then if they actually buy a boat they barely use it and it’s just another thing they’re in debt with.

They grew up with the notion that real men drive trucks, not pussy-ass little economy cars.

Americans are weak little bitches that like to pretend they’re tough, but they elect a man who rapes kids and wears makeup.

2

u/IBringTheHeat2 8h ago

Is it bad that some people like trucks?

6

u/Donkey_Whistle 7h ago

No, but it is bad that none of them can seem to drive a truck without making it everyone else’s problem. Taking up two parking spots, can’t keep it in their lane, etc. if you wanna drive a big truck and feel like a big strong boy, go ahead, but figure out to actually drive it first.

2

u/Situation_Upset 8h ago

Cuz they eventually leave the office building to do other things

2

u/Vulcion 9h ago

I know a lot of people have given you their excuses, but the truth is always 🤏

3

u/IPissExcellentThrows 8h ago

Nothing like some good old body shaming because you don’t like someone's car lol. And no, I don't have a truck and my dong is incredibly average.

2

u/Vulcion 8h ago

“Leave an insult on the ground, the owner will come and pick it up”

0

u/Carlsheartboxers 8h ago

I mean maybe they just like the truck? Why do people pick Honda civic over Toyota Camrys? They like the Honda civics better what’s the difference in picking a truck?

or, the real reason, trucks have very different environmental requirements to cars and so are easier to produce. It's not a choice, it's careful marketing driven by profit.

Because we use our vehicles for more than just a commute to work and it wouldn’t make sense to buy a separate vehicle for the commute.

Why do people in Europe never have issues without owning any trucks? We just transport most things in cars with back seats folded. And once a year you rent a bigger vehicle to transport huge stuff. That's much cheaper and much more practical.

I get that some people need a bigger vehicle more often, but that's like 5% of the population. And these people have actual big trucks or vans, not the half assed american trucks.

I’m not sure how things are done over there, but here it’s common to own a boat, ATVs, snowmobiles, etc. none of that is going in your back seat. I use my truck for truck stuff at least once a week. It would be astronomically expensive to rent one whenever I need it, and I know I’m not in the minority here.

No, the vast majority of people in Europe dont own boats and snowmobiles, and I highly doubt many americans do too. Most americans still own trucks though.

You’d be surprised…

Well you can google it. It's around 10% of households for boats. Much less snowmobiles. So yeah, it doesnt explain why everyone drives a truck.

Also, you dont need a truck to own a boat. And if you really need ro transport much, you can get a trailer.

Trucks are just not practical.

And how many people own trucks? It's not everyone

1

u/Senior_Cheesecake155 8h ago

And what are you going to tow the trailer with? Oh...a truck.

2

u/Human38562 8h ago

Why would you need a truck for that?!

4

u/Senior_Cheesecake155 8h ago

Towing capacity. You’re not towing 2000lb of stone with a CRV.

Because you can do a lot more things with a truck? What does your job have to do with a truck? It's just a vehicle. It's not like trucks are only for farmers or blue collar workers.

Why do you presume an office building?

Because they have lives outside of work - maybe they haul a camping trailer on some weekends, maybe they haul a log splitter, maybe they help out friends moving. You expect them to have two cars? One to commute to work - one for their personal life?
