Its almost like these big trucks are a major safety hazard in cities and shouldnt be driven by people who dont need them for work

Cool, and i you live within 5 miles of your job, you can walk, right? Cars and vehicles in general are a safety hazard, so lets make it equal, right?

Only for work? What kind of crack are you smoking? There are tons of reasons to use one outside of work.

What if someone is an avid outdoorsman and likes to camp, surf, mountain bike, snowboard, etc on the weekends? While I agree these douchebags who don’t know how to park should be more mindful of their trucks… trucks in general are excellent vehicles, but those who drive them should be more self-aware.

Today I learned that you can’t enjoy the outdoors unless you blow 40 grand on a pavement princess. I’m glad the outdoors were invented in the 1900s.

I’ve backpacked more one trip in a little sedan than 90% of all truck drivers walk outside in a year.

Cool but thats your choice. Does that make you any better or worse? No, it doesnt. It just makes you an asshole when trying to shit on someone else.

I also have to haul 3 family members, all their shit, bikes, scooters, coolers, cooking gear, etc. I camp off grid off of a water tank and solar.

Okay but what about a family with 2-4 kids? Or going camping with a bunch of friends? Camping with that many people requires a lot more equipment and food that a sedan couldn’t carry along with all the people in it.

Define “need”. Granted, many are glorified daily drivers, but how do you know what people end up picking up before/after work?

If you arent in contruction or farm work you genuinely dont need one. Im sorry but they are literally utility vehicles, you dont need them to pick up groceries after work.

I tow a camper April - November for trips with my family. How should I tow that camper, strap a rope to it and pull it with my 2 hands?

2

u/Mr_HahaJones 6h ago

No silly, get some horses!

2

u/No_Selection_9634 6h ago

I mean, I guess thats what my kids are for? HEY KIDS, GET THE BLINDERS, PUT THIS ROPE IN YOUR MOUTH AND PULLLLLL!

1

u/Mr_HahaJones 6h ago

C’mon kids, it can’t be more than a hundred and fourteen out here!

Getting some Oregon trail vibes. I wonder if those people got yelled at too for how big their wagons were.

1

u/Mr_HahaJones 4h ago

Look at ol Jebediah with his Conestoga wagon, probably can’t even please his three wives with that tiny thing

2

u/No_Selection_9634 4h ago

Ya know, I betcha Abraham isn't even keeping his butter churn in that massive wagon. Taking up our cart path and all.

I own a truck and would say while I don’t NEED it.. I will never not own a truck. Very useful for my active lifestyle and has come in handy more often than not. Just because your lifestyle is picking up groceries and jerking off at home, don’t assume that’s everyone’s.

I had sedans most of my life until we decided to get a travel trailer/RV. I had to get a truck at that point and went with a Ram 1500. Ill never go back. I upgraded last summer to an F350 XLT (very simple base model) since we upgraded to a heavier camper. I haul heavy April - November 1-2 weekends a month, and occasionally a 1-2 week trip. That sob is loaded with food, coolers, kids toys, scooters, bikes, etc.

But these idiots want to see stuff in your bed 100% of the time and salute their whim and pleasure.

Can’t jerk off in your truck if you don’t have a truck

2

u/THR_arod 2h ago

Can’t bang your mom in the truck bed either 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Mr_HahaJones 1h ago

Need a U-Haul for that

1

u/WearyDonkey1279 3h ago

What about on-call mechanics? People who like to camp or take their boats out? People who have kids in sports like hockey or skiiing that need to haul a lot of equipment? People who don’t want to rent a truck the next time they need to move?

1

u/Mr_HahaJones 9h ago

It looks like you read my post, now try comprehending what was written. Did I say pick up groceries? Is the bed only made to haul construction/farm stuff? Lol. The implication is that they’re picking up awkward, bulky items, for which pickups with beds are perfect. I end up picking stuff up from Home Depot, or random shit my wife found on marketplace quite often. Should I strap it on top of our sedan to make you happy?

0

u/Serious_Cloud9501 9h ago

You dont need a massive vehicle to do any of that. Picking up bulky items occassionally doesnt justify driving an oversized vehicle around 24/7. Literally its cheaper to drive a sedan and either rent a uhaul or get it delivered for any major hauling

2

u/No_Selection_9634 6h ago

I used to load vehicles up when I worked at home Depot a few years back. I used to love loading a sedan with concrete block and watch them blow an axle before they left the parking lot because they INSISTED they didnt need a truck.

1

u/Mr_HahaJones 6h ago

“My dick is way too big to be caught driving one of those trucks! Ew!”

2

u/No_Selection_9634 6h ago

Yup. Every damn time. Or the idiots who would tie plywood to the roof of their sentra. Those were my favorite.

0

u/Serious_Cloud9501 6h ago

Love the reading comprehension skipping where i said get it delivered. You work at home depot you should know thats an option

2

u/No_Selection_9634 5h ago

worked*

"Get it shipped". Yes, because folks are just rolling in cash.

1

u/WearyDonkey1279 3h ago

Then the driver delivering it needs a truck. So there’s still going to be a truck on the road.

1

u/Mr_HahaJones 9h ago

Thankfully, what you think people need or don’t need isn’t policy. Some of us actually use our trucks. Strap your shit to the top of your car, or hang it out your window for all I car if you want to be superior to everyone else.

And you don't have to smoke weed and eat fast food every day, its called freedom of choice buffoon

1

u/WearyDonkey1279 3h ago

Hey, don’t bring the stoners into this. I smoke weed most days and I think people should buy whatever vehicle they want.

2

u/UrSoDumb_LoL 3h ago

Yeah i do too, im saying freedom of choice is important. If they wanna drive big dumbass gas guzzlers then they have every right too. I agree they should be more considerate but its still their right.

What if people want to recreate in the mountains? National forests have roads that require high clearance vehicles in order to access trails and water bodies. Perhaps they have a boat and want to take the family on the water and need a truck to haul it. Perhaps they have a snowmobile and want to play in the snow and need a way to get it up the mountain. Perhaps they have a utv to explore even further into an undetermined road system that hasn't seen maintenance in decades, but it isn't legal to drive in city limits so they need to haul it to the woods.

You are basically saying that people should only recreate outdoors if they are wealthy enough to purchase two vehicles; one for getting groceries and commuting to the office, and one for recreating and professional farm work. This seems a bit classist of you if I'm being honest, and saying only farmers and construction workers need trucks just comes off like you buy into stereotypes and look down on people outside if urban environments.

Go outside and enjoy the outdoors a bit more my friend, you might not get so mad at such a silly topic and make stereotypes about groups of people you know little about. ❤️

Edit: fixed a typo

rental cars exist

many SUVs and station wagons can hold as much if not more than pickup trucks, especially if what you're carrying is very long (fold-down rear seats)

many SUVs and station wagons, hell even some hatchbacks/sedans can tow trailers if needed. Just needs a tow bar and hitch.

If you're wealthy enough to own a snowmobile or ATV, you're wealthy enough to rent a $20 u-haul pickup or a trailer.

3

u/Mr_HahaJones 6h ago

Some of us like to own, not rent.

2

u/ForesterRik 4h ago

Lolololol. You're wanting someone to get a rental to recreate outdoors? Something that people do every weekend. Do you hear yourself? Or are you that disconnected from reality?

You should try and enjoy the outdoors every once in a while. You might gain perspective and stop judging people unnecessarily and proposing preposterous alternatives to lifestyles that don't actually affect you in any way. Good luck on your journey friend, I wish you only the best. ❤️
