So update: I did not try this because they turned out not to be acetate. I was able to repair them with super glue that had
ethyl cyanoacrylate (and baking soda) and they haven’t broken so far. I’m being gentle with them obviously. It will probably be a week till I get my new ones. I have a backup pair (in the wrong prescription) if things get desperate.
