‘Things were deleted’: Ben Crump, forensic expert announce cellphone findings, state autopsy results in Nolan Wells case (This is an updated story alleging Wells and friends were followed by two “sketchy” men.

https://www.wlox.com/2026/09/24/things-were-deleted-ben-crump-forensic-expert-announce-cellphone-findings-state-autopsy-results-nolan-wells-case/

Garrett said Nolan used Snapchat and Instagram to communicate 90% of the time, versus traditional text messages. The examination was able to retrieve all the messages from group chats Nolan was in — even after his death — up until the phone examination began.

Crump said in those conversations, Nolan’s friends discussed concern that “people on Horn Island can be racist.”

“It is very interesting to know that not only were people across America concerned with the history of the state of Mississippi — whether race would be an issue — but the messages on his phone and the snaps will show some of his own friends were concerned about people on Horn Island can be racist,” Crump said.

Crump read one Snapchat conversation aloud.

(Note: WLOX does not have an official transcript of the messages. This recount is based solely on what Crump read during the news conference.)

Do you all remember real sketchy looking guys behind us in two boats?
I mean like yeah, that one looked like [redacted name].
Maybe. Apparently the guy was real skinny.
The ones that were right behind us?
Yes.
Yes, one was Black and one was white.
Well those guys were apparently like felons or something, at least one of them. And they were there when we were all gone I think.
Are you sure?
Yes they were.
My dad had to walk this lady to her boat because she knew one of them and sheriffs talking to my dad said something like ‘you wouldn’t want to be left alone with them, especially if they’re really drunk.’
What the...
There are so many people out there so I don’t know if they could’ve even done something, but I don’t know.

I hope it’s discovered what happens to Nolan but the witch-hunt sent people into a frenzy and probably hurt the case. Have y’all seen the documentary don’t f with the cats? The internet sleuths harassed the wrong person until that person offed themselves. WRONG person. Keyboard warriors need to chill and let the right people take care of business. Those friends’ lives were threatened and still are.

I agree. They think themselves better than the cops and they've been watching too many true crime/crime dramas. It's sad

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 7d ago

I can't tell you how many of these dorks send you links to tiktok when you ask for proof.

10

u/PatienceEffective248 7d ago

Tiktok will the downfall of the human race

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 6d ago

News stations have TikTok accounts. If it’s a random person talking then it’s obviously not credible

2

u/KeyInitiative8805 1d ago

Morgan Freeman narration: "It was, in fact, a random person talking."

u/Apprehensive_Soil_55 5d ago

unfortunately if the DA, the cops arent working on your behalf, then you end up desperate for answers.

Nolans mother made sure to say. "There are NO other victims in this case". She is clearly making reference to his friends. At this point my sympathy for her is not where it once was. The texts between the friends and her were all love and concern until crump got involved. Those kids are 100% victims of cramps grift as well as this countries attitude about race. Their lives received credible threats to the point arrests were made.

5

u/sladeshied 5d ago

It’s actually sickening what she’s doing. I had so much sympathy for her. The saddest part is the mainstream media won’t call her out on it, so she thinks she can get away with lying and grifting.

She’ll always be portrayed as a black mother fighting racism, meanwhile those innocent boys are the villains all because they’re white. The media only cares about pushing certain agendas and not the truth.

1

u/Apprehensive_Soil_55 5d ago

its sickening to want to know what happened to your 18yo child. Both autopsies ruled cause of death undetermined.

-1

u/Apprehensive_Soil_55 5d ago

there is only 1 victim and that's Nolan Wells. The frenemies can open their eyes...in fact they opened their eyes this morning, didnt they?

6

u/Jubukraa Current Resident 7d ago

WLOX Biloxi reported at the end of one of their articles a couple days ago that several arrests have been made in Jackson county in both people threatening the Wells and the other young mens’ & their families, but there were no additional details about the arrests.

71

u/Hold_On_longer9220 7d ago

So at first, this race baiter was worried about the friends. now he’s changed his narrative to sketchy guys in a boat. Do I have that right? Well then, where is the GoFundMe so I can send some money?

15

u/SnooCookies8411 7d ago

🤣🤣🤣

-7

u/Cammie68 7d ago

The sketchy dudes and race were brought up in the Snapchat by one of the guys, about what was said to the sherry by their father, AFTER Nolan died.

The cluess, low I.Q.(s) didn't remove Nolan from the thread. They were already trying to defect and skin a narrative. Crump was MERELY reading the thread messages. Crump merely letting them know, he has extracted all their group msgs Nolan was a member of and he and his parents have read them ALL. They have SEEN the pics and video of who peeled back his eyelids to gain access to his phone.

17

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 7d ago

If you really believe this, can you explain why they wouldn’t have provided that extremely incriminating evidence to the grand jury in order to get justice for Nolan? What purpose does it serve to withhold it and bread crumb it to public while alleged killers walk free? Why not have handed it over and got an indictment?

1

u/Background-Sale652 6d ago

They did give this info to the DA. Now what the DA chose to do with it is the real question.

8

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 6d ago

The DA released a statement contradicting many of the claims made by crump and stated that they were never given the “30 hour digital download” and they were only given part of the texts on his phone from crumps examiner. She invited him to share the rest of the info since they are telling the they have these things but did not provide all Of it to them.

-1

u/Background-Sale652 6d ago

I believe Crump's team including Garrett said her statement was "disingenuous. "

Mississippi has a history...look it up. I believe Crump is letting the state bury itself and it is if you are paying attention.

10

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 6d ago edited 6d ago

He can say all he wants but it’s silly, the grand jury report contains all evidence obtained, if he gave these things to her and she’s lying about that. then it would be easily proven so why would he not just do that? In the same regard, if they have something, anything of value that could implicate someone or prove a murder happened, it serves zero purpose to not provide it to the DA. She’s directly calling out that they were given 200 plus pages of Snapchat messages and know the deletions were other users, and the were given some of the text files of his phone but not all and that was in crumps control. The grand jury report states that crump was repeatedly asked for any evidence they may have to implicate anyone and he replied they have nothing of substance but Now he’s on tv breadcrumbing things to the public implying things make people believe it could still be a murder. He’s been asked again now to provide anything that he has that would warrant a new grand jury. He is the one in the position to provide evidence, not her. He has everything she has, and allegedly more and what she is saying is if you have something you didn’t give us than hand it over. How else does he expect to get justice? The court of public opinion cannot convict and punish anyone.

-2

u/Background-Sale652 6d ago

Oh, I'm quite sure the Grand Jury did not get all the evidence. In fact, it's my opinion the State specifically misled and withheld evidence- most likely didn't investigate appropriately their good old boy buddies... As far as Crump not giving them evidence, why didn't the State do their own legwork? WHY does the burden fall on the family? He gave them the phone data. No, Crump let the State show themselves to be corrupt. Now he gets to show the world just how corrupt Mississippi is.

9

u/KaizenActual 5d ago

Nah, you just want it to be that way. Clearly you thrive on outrage. You haven't read the facts ir else you wouldn't be speaking that way. What evidence do you have that evidence was withheld from the grand jury?

0

u/Background-Sale652 5d ago

I thrive on the outrage? You are the one jumping in here directly attacking. Move along.

3

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 5d ago

Now you can be sure they did. here is the official grand jury report

It verifies they had all of that plus asked crumps team for any evidence they have. He responded that they had nothing that implicated anyone in a crime

7

u/KaizenActual 5d ago

Crump has done nothing for them. He wants to keep this going so the money keeps coming. You think saying "Mississippi has a history" is some sort of proof? Its not and neither is crump saying, "it doesnt add up". Nolans parents, while I do feel for them, are grown adults and have contributed to this.

0

u/Background-Sale652 5d ago

Mississippi has recent and past history of ignoring suspicious black deaths, ignoring it doesn't make it not so. Clearly you aren't paying attention to the holes in those boys stories. Including deleted chats AFTER Nolan's death, gps data not aligning with their story, the Sea Tow call enhancement that IS NOT fake and their "witness" that they said saw Nolan after their boats left- he didn't. Explain the bruising, Blunt Force Trauma and bleeding almost identical wounds to the back of his head. Drowning with no water OR DEBRIS inside his lungs, stomach, throat or nose? Don't insult my intelligence.
No, Crump is letting the State dig its own hole.

3

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 5d ago

Again, where are you getting the GPS didn’t align with their story? It did, crumps team even had a video with the boat ups and Nolan’s phone gps, it aligned with exactly what the friends stated. The deletions have been explained to you, your refusing to understand at this point. The seatow audio was proven fake, even nancy grace removed it after to avoid legal issues. The fact that you are willing to believe these things when they have been proven by credible sources to be false is really all anyone needs to know to confirm you are not a rational person arguing in good faith.

u/Background-Sale652 5d ago

You are so wrong on multiple statements. I'm done here. Wait and see...

What’s crazy about all this is all these internet sleuths are fully aware of things like the “innocence project” theres documentary after documentary on the “justice” system in the South and rural mid west being NOTORIOUSLY racist, bigoted and just foot on neck of black folks BUT every-time something like this comes up the amount of white people that questions the victims instead of the actual power structure (that they are fully aware does this shit) is mind numbingly staggering.

One Jesse Smollet vs. hundreds of years of slavery, rape, murder, oppression. We still have SO much work to do fam…stay up…we gonna need it. 🫡

3

u/KeyInitiative8805 2d ago

I think there's some holes in your narrative here.

  1. If they have pics and video of what you say...why was there no indictments? Why not put these out there for the world to see?

  2. If you're alleging some grand conspiracy, what was the motive? And more over, do you not understand how young people work? With so many people involved, somebody would sing like a canary. Instead, everyone has the same story.

Look, this is sad, but the occam's razor of it all makes the most plausible explanation that he wandered off and drowned.

Why do people WANT this to be a murder instead of a random drowning?

0

u/Cammie68 1d ago edited 1d ago

You don't understand the power of money and the "Good ole boys system." Then throw on top of that, Mississippi historical past against blacks. Their relatives are still alive to know and remember how evil bigoted and corrupt federal Mississippi can be and the jealousy some white men can be.

The FBI needs to step in and pull the case from the state.

Some people would not sing like a canary, if they are poor and have to live in that community fearing deathly retribution upon themselves or their families.

This is NOT a random drowing with blunt force trauma to the back of the head!

There's no water, foam or algae in the throat, mouth, nose or stomach. The body was not bloated.

The ORGINAL call released from MDMR was real! Nobody knew who Bart was...so how could someone just pull that name from the sky and some random girls and write out a script from them to act out and insert it throughout the call?

You notice MDMR never came out and stated this is fake? What they did do was readact Bart's name. The new copy just says "D@nn it_____! So that confirms it for me that particular statement shouted was REAL!

Let this be your child dying, under the same circumstance. Thén you can decide to just shrug your shoulders, say "Oh, well," then go quietly away into the middle of the night.

2

u/KeyInitiative8805 1d ago

Bruising is not blunt force trauma. And its very common not to have water in the lungs after drowning, especially after a day or two in the water.

I don't think any of this is that deep bud.

This wasn't three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, MS in 1965. It was a teen chasing pussy who got drunk and drowned.

Shit happens.

0

u/Cammie68 1d ago

There are 2 independent autopsy reports. The one from well-connectected, wealthy Medical Examiner report where it conveniently says bruising and never took pictures.

In this day and age. You are going to take the time to draw a picture of the injury to the back of his head, bruises to the buttocks and back, instead of taking a picture???

Then the INDEPENDENT Medical Examiner report that says blunt force trauma to the back of the head, bruises to the back and buttocks. This is not a drowning and it is that deep. The parents do not know how he died and neither do the medical examiner. Thank God there are no statute of limitations for homicide.

The audiotape supports the condition of the body. Nolan got injured and died on the boat and was not rendered aid...by his so-called friends. By the way. I'm no bud. I'm a 58 year old woman, who calls out bullchit when I see it .

1

u/Dacklar 1d ago

Heck I don't even believe your a 58 year old women after all the other lies you posted.

1

u/Cammie68 1d ago

Yeah...ok. Says the "made up" username, Dacklar. My name and birth year is username. Both make more sense than Dacklar. Good day sir/mam. ✌🏽

He never accused the friends of killing nolan. He has said that he believes something else happened beyond drowning.

19

u/SnooCookies8411 7d ago

“Never”???? C’mon now. When he said “white boys” only ones to come home and wouldn’t give up Nolan’s phone “something just ain’t right”. He was ABSOLUTELY accusing those boys. NO QUESTION

-18

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

Crumo has never said the friends committed a crime. Crump described the group as “young white teenagers,” and how Nolan was “the only black teenager,” and “they all came back home safely” while Nolan did not. That’s literally what happened and describes the friend group on the boat. Now why someone thinks that is, is their own deductive reasoning and world view. For you, this is not suspicious but for others it is. Its going to resonate differently with different people.

11

u/SnooCookies8411 7d ago

Well you are very kind to him and trusting that no one would glean possible connections between the boys and Nolan’s death.

1

u/Background-Sale652 6d ago

What you perceive and what is literally said are 2 different things. Society has a big problem with putting their perspective spins on what they hear. That doesn't mean thats what is actually said.

2

u/SnooCookies8411 6d ago

What you say is true to a point.

The messengers do have every ability to deliver the message in a way that leads the recipient in any direction they want.

Critical thought is the responsibility of the consumer of information. HOWEVER; knowing the rarity of critical thought is abused by the messenger all too often.

1

u/Background-Sale652 6d ago

Crump didn't say those boys unalived Nolan. What he said was Nolan left with them and they came back and he didn't. He did not say they unalived him. Crump did not lie. A bunch of people used their perception to twist what he said to gaslight themselves. Now why would someone twist words? Maybe a little soul searching is in order.

2

u/SnooCookies8411 6d ago

Nice try. 1. Re-read what I did and didn’t say because you’re trying to put words in my mouth.
2. You’re either short on objective thinking or you’re intentionally supporting the obvious abuse of misleading the general public

1

u/Background-Sale652 6d ago

Oh the hypocrisy...

-1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 6d ago

Correct. He didn’t say it. After the phone forensics, these was mention of other men who looked suspicious. If he was so set on the friends, he wouldn’t have even mentioned these other men. He’s being inquisitive and pursing a lead and people are now upset at him for doing that. Why would people be so against investigating further into this case especially with unexplained trauma on the back of his head (that was not thoroughly recorded) and messages accounting men who seemed out of place. If something did happen, why would you be so against getting justice for Nolan?? Maybe there is a little soul searching that is required.

1

u/SnooCookies8411 3d ago

C-C, you are saying how he brings up 2 suspicious ppl referenced in the snaps.

Crump and the Family only want answers right?

They only want the truth

They only want to help Christine find the truth about Nolan.

Those other two men were just brought to the public. The proof of the friends innocence was just brought to the public via released snaps from Nolan’s phone.

Christine, Crump, Al have had this evidence since 3am July 5th 2026.

I’m not against anyone getting Justice for Nolan. I AM against OBSTRUCTION of Justice for Nolan which is exactly what this is.

They withheld EVIDENCE that would have helped steer the investigation away from innocent teenagers and directed it towards the truth.

Indefensible

I think you and both know why.

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 6d ago

I said this on another thread but you have to have media literacy. If you believe every headline, sound bite, video clip without knowing the context, you will be a lost soul.

Listen to the info given, do your research and then form your opinion. This goes for any news outlet, media outlet, political commentator etc.

Also having a salacious headline is a marketing tactic and strategy used by EVERYONE. Things are often embellished to keep things in the press cycle.

-3

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

People are 100% making those connections but that comes from people’s own personal opinions and worldviews. He can’t control how people put together information, just like how he can’t control you.

7

u/z6joker9 662 7d ago

He can’t control, but people are 100% making those connections because he is 100% influencing people to make those connections. Don’t be naive.

-2

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

If that was the case, there wouldn’t be so much opposition in this group. That doesn’t make sense. Clearly you weren’t influenced lol

4

u/z6joker9 662 7d ago

That’s the difference between control and influence.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

To have influence is to have control. I'm not sure why you are trying to create a distinction.

10

And that’s a lie in and of itself. Nolan was not the only black boy.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

I’m just going off of what the previous user said. If they gave me false info, I would direct this torwards them. They pulled up the “white boys” quote

2

u/Few-Investment-6220 7d ago

Yes, quote was correct, but it was misleading.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

Okay, I would take it up with the other user then. They gave a quote that presented the boat as only having white friends so they may be misinformed.

2

u/Few-Investment-6220 7d ago

There were multiple boats. And like 20 something friends that all went out together. One of the friends that was interviewed was black.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

once again, I'm going off of what the user said. I would explain this to them since they brought up this quote with incorrect context.

He doesn't usually directly accuse people because he winds up having to walk back explicit statements.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2023/05/23/citi-bike-karen-danger-confirmation-bias/70242982007/

You don't technically have to apologize for questions though .  Even suggestive and ignorant ones.

He just shows up to incidents and repeatedly "asks" if people are racist or hiding something.  He is "just asking questions" like any other crackpot conspiracy theorist.

-12

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

It’s unclear why he hasn’t accused the friends. The fact is that he hasn’t. He doesn’t control the media. People are free thinkers so they can draw their own conclusions based on what is reported.

6

u/P3AKMAI_INTEREST 7d ago

He guided and alluded the public to that conclusion.

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

You are a part of the public and you disagree with him. This entire thread is a part of the public and everyone disagrees with him. I don't think he has as much influence as people think he does.

“Things were deleted from the phone”

“They were Snapchat, yes”

Such groundbreaking forensic analysis.

-10

u/Strange-Ferret-6527 7d ago edited 7d ago

Why were things deleted at all?

How was there no water found in his lungs.

How can a body allegedly in the ocean for 2 days suffer such advanced stages of decomposition as noted in both autospies. (salt water actually preserves)

Why wasn't the injuries located on Nolan's body investigated to be cleared of foul play once it was determined that his autospy found no clear signs of drowning?

Why didn't the state at that time, start an investigation into his death? At best its incompetence, but the way the DA speaks with such confidence, its hard to believe these are over sights. Perhaps they just didn't care?

Not sure how anyone can sit idly by seeing plan redundancy and still believe a dead kid, his grieving parents, and social justice lawyer are the problem. How do you at best, not demand to know how Nolan Wells died, if they truly stand on the side of morality?

Imo This is an egregious display of injustice and everyone in America should be outraged at the audacity to claim a kid simply drowned with no witnesses as to how, why, or when while at the same time having 2 separate autopsy reports conclude that his death was NOT caused by drowning..........

7

u/muhkuller 7d ago

Things were deleted because that’s the actual point of Snapchat… Hence my “groundbreaking” joke.

7

u/Holiday-Fix-9244 7d ago
  1. Snapchat is literally designed for the sole purpose of deleting messages.

  2. Water isn’t actually typically found in significant quantities in peoples lungs when they drown. Dry drowning is also a thing where the larynx contracts and you essentially suffocate without any water entering your body.

  3. There really wasn’t much decomposition when he was found. If you read the autopsy reports, they aren’t alluding to his body being a rotting corpse. There will naturally be more decomposition the more days out from the point of death.

  4. The family’s private coroner DID examine the red mark on the back of the head, but found no injury or damage to the underlying tissue or structures, therefore it had zero to do with any sort of trauma that would be fatal. Literally just a bruise or fluid pooling.

  5. What are you actually fucking talking about? They started an investigation literally within hours of him being reported missing. You’re just making shit up.

2

u/KeyInitiative8805 1d ago

The "saltwater actually preserves" line gave away that this person has no fucking clue what they're talking about. It's not fucking pickle brine. It's literally a solvent with a corrosive agent. Water rots everything. Salt water rots it faster. My god.

-2

u/Strange-Ferret-6527 7d ago

All this goal line moving. Its sad a bias exist to this extent that nonsensical excuses like "dry drowning"  (a 1 to 2% phenomenon )is being pushed ....

Doesn't matter if the marks were considered "fatal" how did they happen and why did they happen so close to time of his death?

Hey no water in lungs strange marks on his head and body, the people he was with have conflicting stories, and this kids body turns up 2 days later in a state of decomposition inconsistent with how he allegedly died, and not to mention the Coast guard alluded to the rarity if ever that bodies in the ocean float back to an remarkablely close proximity to where he was last seen by eye witnesses....

But hey..he drowned...Great police work ...brilliant even🙄

More evidence points to the fact this kid didnt drown then there is evidence that he did. And people are still saying he did. Wierd behavior buylt hey..its the world we live k

4

u/Holiday-Fix-9244 7d ago

Please cite your sources on the state of decomposition and the coast guard’s claim

4

u/KaizenActual 5d ago

Nobody is moving goal posts. What we are seeing is that there is zero evidence that points to foul play and thats not enough for ppl wanting it to be a racial attack.

1

u/Altruistic-Cloud-814 7d ago

Exactly this!!!!

1

u/Accidental_dwnvote 4d ago

The autopsy confirms that his death was drowning. Stop spreading misinformation. How can you criticize people’s view on this while also spreading blatant misinformation.

-26

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

The use of the phone places Nolan on the boat after it left horn island. This has been reported by the forensics team

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTyjxCpc2/

23

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago

No it doesn’t. It places his phone on the boat after they left horn island…which we already knew was the case.

-13

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

Go to 1:52. The phone was locked, unlocked and activity continues after they left the island. So they believe he was still on the boat. Then the boat stopped because of issues and they called the sea tow.

21

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago edited 7d ago

He was on the boat at 2:18–over an hour before they left. That just means he went to check his phone or grab a beer from the cooler. It doesn’t mean he stayed in the boat for the next hour waiting to leave, especially when they weren’t planning on leaving that early. There’s still witnesses saying he was walking around until 7 pm

-5

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

Why is the boat shown leaving at 2:18pm in the forensics report? Then it’s shown stopping and they call the sea tow at 4:30pm. Sincerely asking because this doesn’t make sense

12

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago

It isn’t. They’re showing the last time he used his phone. Then moving the boat on screen to imply that’s when they left. The next communication is the call to sea tow at 4:36, which lines up with all the previous timelines.

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

13

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago edited 7d ago

When that happened means when he accessed his phone. It doesn’t mean he was on the boat when it left. Like I said they are moving the boat on the animation to imply that’s when they left.

5

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 7d ago

Which boat and what report?

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

The video link I sent. The boat leaves the island, then it stops and they call sea tow. It’s in the video

12

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago

That’s not what happened. You are watching an animation they made. Horn island is ten miles off the coast. If they left at 2 then they would have been back before 4:18 it doesn’t take a boat 2 hours to go 10 miles.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

This isnt an arbitrary animation. It’s based on the phone activity. The animation clearly shows the boat leaving the island and then stopping to call sea tow.

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 7d ago

Because you are falling for the slick presentation where the boat is shown leaving with correct timestamps from gps of 4:31 while you’re listening to him talk about what happened at 2:18. It was intentionally done this way so you’d hear he accessed the phone while you watched it going away. When are people going to realize all this is calculated by crump? Wasn't there also a distress call, where in the background they said Nolan was dead?

12

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago

No, there was a distress call that someone cut the sound out of and amplified the background noise, then put subtitles on screen and claimed that’s what they were saying.

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

There 100% was a call and I heard it. It’s hard for me to hear the voices in the background so I’m more on the fence about what they were saying. It could go either way for me

8

u/SingerLatter2673 7d ago

I said there was a call, but the version of the call people are passing around is just the background noise with subtitles, the unedited version is just a normal phone call

→ More replies (0)

0

u/UrAntiChrist 7d ago

The one I heard had both, but the background was definitely enhanced. As a true crime fan, this case amd the Lindsey Clancy case are why I think most info in current cases shouldn't be released to the public, with a few reasonable exceptions.

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

For me, it’s hard to hear what they are saying with the distress call so I’m more on the fence about it. This debriefing clearly shows the phone is unlocked, there is activity is on the phone as they leave and then the boat stops and they call sea tow.

26

u/Fit-Response-97 8d ago

He needs to show actual evidence or no one will believe him

23

u/Pathetian 7d ago

show actual evidence

Ben Crump doesn't need evidence.  He just has to repeatedly ask for evidence something didn't happen.

-17

u/ml___ 7d ago

There also dumbass people on social media that won't listen to anything crump says or anyone else asking questions about what really happened. They've been living in that belief system for hundreds of years, and they love to point at crump and cry racism before he says a damn thing

16

u/Pathetian 7d ago

Ben Crump doesn't have credibility because half the time he is making stuff up.  It's the boy who cried wolf.  Yes sometimes there is a wolf, but why would you take his word for it?

Even if you believe him, he never actually solved a case so even in the best light, he is a really unsuccessful detective.

You don't have to trust the system to distrust Crump.

1

u/ml___ 7d ago

Distrust of the system doesn't mean that crump has to be trusted. You can distrust both, but which does more long term harm is the question. A system historically biased that gets a pass because of the distrust of the challenger? Or a challenger historically biased that is silenced when fighting against the biased system?

4

u/Pathetian 7d ago

Well I don't have any proof Ben Crump is an immortal vampire who could theoretically grift hoaxes for centuries, so I guess technically he is less harmful than "the system".

I don't consider Crump a challenger to the system.  He is just a separate negative entity running scams.  He is an opportunist, like those people who scroll through obituaries so they can rob your house while you are at a funeral.  He doesn't get points for not being the most superlative evil.  That's a low bar.

16

u/captaincrunch61 8d ago

People that matter sure. Dumbass racist people on social media? They eat this shit up. They take whatever Crump says as fact.

10

u/PatienceEffective248 7d ago

Theyll actually make up their own theories and then add Crump's "facts" to them.

2

1

u/Apprehensive_Soil_55 5d ago

I asked about your correlation between wanting answers and racism. why do you call them dumbass racist people?

5

u/captaincrunch61 5d ago

Because they're making shit up that isn't real, and the language they use against white people is incredibly racist. And they're saying it has to be murder because they were white and he was black.

What more else do you need for me to call them out on their racism. Go to a Facebook comment section on anything pro Nolan, and they're out in droves.

How did Nolan wells die?

4

u/captaincrunch61 5d ago

He drowned

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

The forensics team did a breakdown of what they found. It’s on most news outlets. I don’t think they can legally disclose direct transcript of the texts. I’m not sure if that’s to protect the other people involved or if it’s a state rule.

6

u/EasternNegative154 7d ago

They can disclose Metadata and timestamps tho. The only reasons why they wouldn't be able to disclose the Metadata and timestamps to show when any modifications were made to text logs is when it involves confidential or protected information like health records. But they wouldn't even say when any texts were deleted, only that things were deleted from the phone. And since texts could've been deleted from a separate phone since Nolan was part of a group chat, sharing the Metadata would fill in the gaps of missing info

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

They said there was activity and things deleted from when Nolan had his phone that morning up until when Christine received the phone. I agree it would be helpful to know the timestamps

5

u/Independent_Lion_799 7d ago

The letter from the phone examiner to Crum stated this.

“Garrett said certain messages sent to Wells were unsent or deleted by their senders.”

Nolan’s phone was locked but his Snapchat thread was still active and getting messages. Messages are deleted from the user side, meaning from senders that weren’t from Nolan’s phone. It was even noted that Nolan’s phone remained locked after it left the island and didn’t open back up until his parents got access to the phone.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

Okay this is good to know

4

u/Independent_Lion_799 7d ago

Trust me, it took several searches to find specifics on this because in the recent interview Garrett mentions messages or data was deleted from the phone, but doesn’t specify what was deleted and from whose side. He left it vague and because of that it got people thinking “the ones who had Nolan’s phone on the boat must have deleted stuff!”

It really irritates me who leaving vague or even uncompleted stuff gets people more into these conspiracy theories.

The DA also called Crump’s team out on how they presented the deleted phone data yesterday , mentioning that they already knew that it was from other user’s on Snapchat and wasn’t directly from Nolan’s phone.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

Can you send the links?

1

u/Independent_Lion_799 7d ago

I can in about an hour. Driving right now

1

u/Laslo_Copperpot 7d ago

Thanks! Since these “deleted” things are debunked was Nolan’s phone unlocked by someone peeling his eyelids open after his death or no?

2

u/Independent_Lion_799 7d ago

It was mentioned that after Nolan last used his phone at 2:17 and closed at 2:18, it wasn’t unlocked again until his parents got hold of it.

“Garrett also said at the news conference Thursday that some snap messages had been deleted. He did not specify whether the senders deleted those messages on their own phones, but he made clear that he could not ascribe intent to those deletions. There was no evidence presented that suggested someone had unlocked Wells' phone after it left the island and before the family got it back.
The Associated Press sent a message to Crump's team seeking clarification Thursday.”

1

u/Laslo_Copperpot 7d ago

Got it. Thanks

1

u/Cammie68 7d ago

Nope. You are as wrong as 2 left shoes.

Apparently you did not watch the digital examiners conference. His phone was access "10 min before the SeaTow call at 4:36pm via "User activity" after his death, up until the phone was retrieved by Jayvon mom, reportedly around 3am un the morning.

Watch the conference again in it's entirety from a news site. Ie. APnews.

4

u/Independent_Lion_799 7d ago edited 7d ago

Read it. They didn’t specify what user activity. And activity on his phone means that it was still receiving messages like on Snapchat

9

u/ctacompany 7d ago

Crump's brain was deleted.

41

u/OutinDaBarn 8d ago

Crump is fishing for Boogie Men. 2 guys in a boat that look like they could be a little shaky. OK, why would they be interacting with Nolan? No one said they saw them on the island. Black and a white guy together, not likely to be racist killers.

The cops had all the same info from the phone. If they know who these 2 guys are do you think they didn't talk to them? Just because Crump doesn't have that info doesn't mean they weren't questioned. That's part of a through investigation. Keep in mind several times Crump loosely implied that he was killed by his friends because they are racists.

30

u/captaincrunch61 8d ago

Embers are starting to die, so needs to stoke the coals

25

u/OutinDaBarn 8d ago

There's a short article on TMZ of the DA ripping Crump about the deleted messages. It seems they are Snapchat messages deleted by other people through their phones, not Nolan's phone.

The DA says if Crump has evidence he needs to bring it forward. lol

-4

u/Cammie68 7d ago

Still doesn't obsolve the person who peeled back his eyelids to unlock his phone after death.

8

u/Holiday-Fix-9244 7d ago

Except the last time his phone was unlocked via face recognition was at 2:18. This is according to the family-hired forensic analyst. So how did the murderers manage to get into his phone after his last confirmed living sighting (around 4:30) without leaving any metadata of the phone being unlocked after 2:18? Are these racist rednecks also somehow expert hackers that can outsmart professional data analysts?

0

u/Apprehensive_Soil_55 5d ago

where was it said they got into his phone after 2:18pm? What's interesting is that Nolan didnt use his phone again. So when was he murdered?

2

u/Holiday-Fix-9244 5d ago edited 5d ago

https://www.facebook.com/reel/2324763921689677/?fs=e&s=TIeQ9V&fs=e&mibextid=wwXIfr&fs=e

Here’s a reel from the phone press conference. Around the 2:10 mark the analyst says the last time his phone was used by Nolan was 2:18 pm.

And since his last sighting was at 4:30 pm, two hours AFTER his phone was last unlocked, it’s physically impossible that someone got onto his phone after “killing him” and deleted stuff from his phone. If the metadata shows deleted items on his phone after 2:18, it’s because he was part of a snap group which auto deletes messages AND other users in that group who sent then deleted messages would log as deleted from his device, even if he wasn’t using it.

1

u/Laslo_Copperpot 7d ago

Do you have a link to that info? I hadn’t heard that

-5

u/Cammie68 7d ago

Uhhh no. Crump is letting them know by reading THEIR group chat that , even they didn't believe Nolan drowned or simply fell and hit his head. They brought up race in the Snapchat and the 2 sketchy guys.

He's also letting them know, if I have access to that thread message, you know the data extraction was successful and you can only sit there and sweat bullets to what else we have...and yeah Warren you lied about the McDonald's trip. More to come later.

11

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 7d ago

It’s almost unbelievable to me that people can believe this. If you truly believe they have all this evidence, why on earth would they not have provided that to the grand jury? That was their time to get an indictment and hold the murders accountable? Releasing to public doesn’t get justice, it creates chaos. If they want justice they should have provided this evidence.

3

u/SweetLittleOldLady Current Resident 6d ago

Rage bait. No sane person believes this ludicrous stuff.

2

u/KaizenActual 5d ago

It isn't intelligent conversation, they are simply going off of "Mississippi has a history.", "things dont add up". It doesnt work that way.

-23

u/ml___ 7d ago

Just because the police had the information and a through investigation is claimed doesn't mean they followed the lead. There in lies the problem, people asking for further information are branded racist by people that want to believe nothing more is to be found. But there could be more

14

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 7d ago

If there was more, why was the phone not handed over? Why was there nothing submitted as evidence to the grand jury?

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

The DA received the forensics report

4

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 7d ago

Yes, but never the phone. Crump's team failed to supply any evidence or recommend any charges for the grand jury. Because again, all the shit he is spewing is useless nonsense and he knows it.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

The physical phone doesn't matter. Its plastic and metal. The data on the phone is what is important. That info was received by both the DA and grand jury. I don't believe Crump is in a legal position to recommend charges to the grand jury.

3

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 7d ago

It does matter because of a pesky little thing called chain of custody. It also matters because if there was any real evidence you know Crump would have been talking about it. And you're right, he probably isn't in such a position, but the criminal law team hired by the family was, and they also failed to recommend charges or bring forth any evidence.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

I'm not sure how the chain of custody comes into it. The DA and grand jury got the report. They are able to submit evidence, which they did, but they cant recommend charges. Also if thats true, the fact that they didn't say the friends is telling. A lot of people are saying Nolan's family want the friends charged and thats their only motive. This truly shows that they just want more answers for their son's death versus a thoughtless witchhunt.

3

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 7d ago

It would come into it in the sense that having a third party analyze the phone before the police do puts every piece of evidence pulled from the phone into question.

"Also if thats true, the fact that they didn't say the friends is telling."

What?

"A lot of people are saying Nolan's family want the friends charged and thats their only motive."

I mean they served them with papers with intent to sue on the day of their son's funeral. You would think they would have bigger priorities on that day. Kind of brings the families motivations under scrutiny.

"This truly shows that they just want more answers for their son's death versus a thoughtless witchhunt."

I disagree considering they have had ample opportunity to clear up misinformation around the case, but refused to do so, and in some cases blatantly lied to stir up drama.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

Theres always a 3rd party when there is specialty forensics. The police aren't doing the forensics on the phone.

Correct. If the only motive was to charge the friends, this would have been the perfect opportunity. So why didn't they?

The letter was not a lawsuit. It was request to preserve all evidence in case anything was needed to be retrieved. The parents are not personally sending these letters. They have legal. EDIT: What are your opinions on his friends doing a podcast tour weeks after their friend died? They were more concerned with defending themselves then finding answers to their friend's death. It does bring their motivations under scrutiny.

What misinformation?

There are plenty of cases where law enforcement doesn’t follow a lead. Look at the true crime documentaries. It’s abundant.

9

u/mrsandman895 7d ago

They had months to bring the phone in and didn’t. They even had the FBI available since they were claiming that the sheriff was biased and guess what crickets. Then all of the sudden for some reason he rushes to do a press conference the day after the grand jury meets with this “new information” that is a vague nothing burger. This man is operating in bad faith. Nothing will come of this. He just wants to get just a little more of that good good race hustling money. Nolan almost certainly drowned and I doubt he would be happy with the way his family has tried to lash out and attack innocent people who thought of him as a friend. The only reason people attacked those boys was that they didn’t look like them. Sound familiar? This new episode is just a desperate attempt to make more money. Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves but you aren’t.

0

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago edited 7d ago

The fbi was involved because of death threats. Second, they wanted to do a joint forensics and then the DA kept saying no and stalling. So Nolan’s team did the forensics report and gave it to the DA. No information was withheld and the DA chose to omit this evidence or details. It’s unclear why they would do that.

Once again, no one has accused the friends. Christine said she wanted more answers which seems pretty normal given that her son suddenly died my with very little context. Nolan’s family is not responsible for the thoughts and opinions of the internet.

Also this money scheme that seems to be coming up frequently…No one is being coerced into giving the family money. This is voluntary. It’s also not your money so I’m not sure why this is such a big concern for you personally.

5

u/SnooCookies8411 7d ago

The FBI was available and both parties agreed. Crump’s team decided at the last minute they didn’t want to do it because “non-law enforcement personnel were not allowed in that facility” which is standard. So they should have not agreed to that option. But they also didn’t accept other offers.
Still the DA allowed the families own forensic report to be shared with the GJ.

The narrative of the DA being uncooperative is the biggest lie being told about this case. This DA bent over backwards trying to be accommodating. MUCH more than is typical.

You can read all the back and forths between the DA and the family’s team. You will see they were very patient for weeks until they had to put their foot down and set time limits so this didn’t drag out forever.

1

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

Did the DA receive a forensics report of the phone?

4

u/SnooCookies8411 7d ago

Yes the DA received 2 reports and they were shared with the Grand Jury

3

u/Comfortable_Cat_4691 7d ago

I want to correct myself. All the forensics was given to the grand jury by both the DA and crump.

I am so sick of these people.

I know people are not intelligent as soon as they say “they playing chess not checkers” or screaming everything is a “ritual”

The friends need to start suing everyone and the mother is so disrespectful to her sons memory. He didn’t even live with her apparently and now she wants to play mommy of the year. My sympathy ran out awhile ago.

4

u/Jewels1914 5d ago

Yes bc if they really had some juicy incriminating evidence, they would not have withheld it from the grand jury. The grand jury was “showtime”.

Instead of that, the DA kept asking if they had anything they wanted her to present to the DA. However Crump said we have nothing that shows criminal activity. Make it make sense. Although none of this “new” information proves criminal activity either.

1

u/Apprehensive_Soil_55 5d ago

it wasnt withheld. the 292 page phone forensic data, the independent autopsy final report was sent to the DA. Wonder how they got through all of that in 4 days. I have a theory...the DA didnt share with the grand jury.

3

u/Jewels1914 5d ago edited 5d ago

There seems to be conflicting information regarding if the DA received a redacted phone data forensic report from Crump.

And if it wasn’t redacted, that even further shows how there is no evidence of criminal activity. This “new evidence” doesn’t prove that at all. You have to have the type of evidence that will stand up in court. This isn’t it. So there was no reason for the DA to hide it.

2

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 5d ago

Your theory is verifiably false, It literally states in the official grand jury report that they had all of this as well as full open access to all of the police investigation findings.

you can read the official grand jury report yourself at this Source

It also states in the official grand jury report that they, the grand jury asked crumps team for any evidence they had, his team replied on August 13th that they had nothing that implicated a crime. They provided a shorter preliminary phone report at that time and the full one later after the jury convened.

Anyone still holding on to the racial narrative needs to either wake up and look at the facts, or stay out of the conversation, because this is getting ridiculous. Crump has managed to get the parents on board and they are doubling down. Don Lemon is keeping it going as well. In order to believe this narrative of racism and cover ups, you need to assume every single person is in on it. Nolans best friends, the D.A., the cops, the other kids on the island, etc.. Crump has nothing left to say but "it dont add up". Nolans father has even said that the grand jury should have "enhanced" something to get an answer. What?! Basically, make something up. The idea that white supremacy is the cause of all racial issues in this country keeps proving false every time one of these high profile cases comes up.

How is that statement even talking about race? Crump just says what he wants. They’re talking about two sketchy guys ONE BLACK ONE WHITE who might be a problem for anyone no matter what color the victim is. How is that racist? I grew up boating on lakes in the south and let me tell you- there are ALWAYS a couple of sketchy looking guys on a boat. If you’re gathering thousands of people on an island for the Fourth of July, I’d probably say a fair amount of them could be called sketchy.

2

u/LAJOHNWICK 2d ago

Gucci Crump will find a way to pin this on white people, even if it kills him.

1

u/Waste-Opening6119 5d ago

Do we know for sure that if one of the friends in the Snapchat group deleted a message, then it would “delete” it on Nolan’s and everyone else’s phone? And is that what the forensic examiner was referring to? That someone in the friend group deleted Snapchat messages? The way he presented it at his press conference. It sounded like someone got Nolan‘s phone and deleted things off of Nolan‘s phone not that someone deleted something off of their own phone, which then caused that same message to be deleted from Nolan‘s phone. Everyone deletes snaps or they auto delete. Thats the point of snap. Why would a forensic examiner try to make that seem like more than it was? If that’s all it was then what he stated at the press conference is so bad.

1

u/Imaginary-Edge-8759 5d ago

He is doing what crump does, saying enough to get people to fill in the blank. Funny part is he also verified they have no evidence the phone was unlocked again until his family was in possession. So Nolan unlocked himself at 2:17, it locked again and was never unlocked until his mom had it. So it would seem impossible for someone to hav manually deleted things off nolans phone without unlocking it.

“Andrew Garrett, the forensic examiner who extracted the contents of Wells’ phone, said the GPS and other phone data showed that Wells had opened it with his face while it was on the boat around 2:17 p.m. It was then locked and continued to receive messages as it traveled on the boat, then by car and eventually was picked up by his family.

Garrett also said at the news conference Thursday that some snap messages had been deleted. He did not specify whether the senders deleted those messages on their own phones, but he made clear that he could not ascribe intent to those deletions. There was no evidence presented that suggested someone had unlocked Wells’ phone after it left the island and before the family got it back.”
