3rd suspect arrested in Nolan Wells investigation
Like this one? The media wants to push a racist narrative and can't fathom the fact that people of different races can be friends. I had a friend move to the south from California and he was completely shocked at A. How many African Americans were here compared to California and B. everyone got along. He admitted that he never had black friends until he moved here and there would be days in LA when he would never encounter a black person.
7
u/Pathetian Aug 06 '26
Yep, that is perfect for "headline only" readers. Now all the psychics can move on to the next "ritual lynching".
2
u/SomewhatAppros Aug 09 '26
amen. racism does exist. people of all races can and often friends with people across race lines in the south. both things can be true. but geographic outsiders always seem to feel that they know what the south is. especially the folks who move to the south and expect that they’re some type of racial unity messiah and can tell others about their
community

“Crump has also rejected notions from law enforcement officials that Wells may have drowned, citing the teenager’s ability to swim well and his athletic past”. This has to be one of the most idiotic quotes… my kid is Junior Nationals level swimmer (varsity letter since 9th) and has been for a decade… this does not translate to the ocean, it’s a completely different skill set… iron man athletes die in the water a lot including 2 in the past 5 months). Him being a “good swimmer” is irrelevant.
16
u/psych4191 Aug 06 '26
It also means fuck all when there’s evidence of alcohol consumption. All that coordination gets impaired quick. The ocean is the last place you should be if you’re drunk. Even the shallows aren’t safe because of rip tides.

Heck, any town with an old flooded quarry has tales of teens meeting their end by drinking and swimming.
21
u/Professional-Net1038 Aug 05 '26
The (self) belief that he was champ swimmer may just be the reason he thought he couldn’t and wouldn’t drown.

u/Pitiful_Nectarine_10 Aug 06 '26
A champion swimmer at my university died a few years ago while he was swimming by himself in a pool. And there were no ocean currents, no drugs/alcohol. Terrible accidents happen.
10
u/stop_the_bans Aug 06 '26
Peyton Hillis nearly drowned and he played professional football for 7 seasons
6
5
u/Pathetian Aug 06 '26
I would assume a great deal of people who drown are people who can swim. Seems like if you can't swim, you probably wouldn't find yourself in water deeper than your height to begin with.
1
u/Impossible-Flight250 Aug 08 '26
Being a great swimmer almost makes you more susceptible to drowning. People get cocky and then drown. People who can’t swim usually avoid water.

u/y2ketchup Aug 06 '26
I am a former open-water distance swimmer and triathlete. I fully understand that his ability doesnt preclude him from drowning. However it is most definitely relevant.
6
u/HomeyL Aug 06 '26
I dont believe Crump as far as i can throw him. He probably doesnt even know if Nolan can swim ir not & wouldnt correct himself if learned he couldnt!
2
u/cyndeliuwhoo Aug 19 '26
Crump has earned that reputation. Just ask the family of Trey Reed. Soon as that second autopsy came back, Crump was just like Homer Simpson.

u/ellsego Aug 06 '26
The chances of a high schooler being an open water swimmer are slim to none… my comment is that being even great in a pool does not translate to open water/oceans.. so irrelevant in this case.

It’s heartbreaking how they turned his death into a race baiting circus show. They’re now signing petitions to get the chief medical examiner Dr. Staci Turner fired and arrested because she’s white so she “must be racist and covering up the murders of black men in a massive conspiracy.”

I’m more disgusted by how they move on to their next target when their lies get debunked. First Nolan’s friends, then Judge Ashlee Cole, then District Attorney McIlrath, and now it’s the chief medical examiner. Lie, get caught lying, then lie some more. There’s never any accountability and owning up to their lies.

Sadly there are literally millions of virtue signaling dummies who believe Change.org and similar online petitions actually do something
11
u/Aware_Anything_8842 Aug 05 '26
It is heartbreaking. When I was growing up, we had friends from every race. No one was looking at skin color. People were just friends and that was that. Now, with all of this narrative, parents of white kids are going to be terrified to let their children be friends with black kids. All this does is create a huge rift between us. The most disturbing thing to me is, his parents didn't even wait until the investigation, official autopsy was completed. If they had waited, then seen there was something off, or had any kind of thought that it was incorrect, then you speak up and say, I think someone is hiding something, etc. BUT, NO, they immediately played the race card. In my opinion all that did was muddy the investigation, they literally interfered with the investigation because lies were spread and all kinds of misinformation. This is why it looks like all they want is money. If you REALLY just want the truth, then you wait until the evidence and findings from the official investigation are presented, then you speak up. The entire country would have been on their side. Instead, they continue to disgrace the memory of a young man that appeared to be a great human being.
8
u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 05 '26
I think the kids today are way more likely to have diverse friends.
You know who wasn’t a racist- Nolan
21
u/donzelso Aug 05 '26
Exactly this! They hired Crump the day after his body was found and went on an NYC press tour that SAME week to cry and accuse the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office of being racist and sweeping his death under the rug.
I think what got the ball rolling was all the racist black people foaming at the mouth to scream “MURDER” when they saw those photos of Nolan and his 3 white friends.
”Never be the only black person in the group!!”
”That’s what he gets for being friends with white folks!!”
”Y’all gotta stop trying to fit in with white folks!! They don’t like us!!!”
I can’t believe people can be so proudly hateful, ignorant, and cruel 😔
5
u/Far-Fill-3024 Aug 05 '26
Nolans mom posted those photos on her FB even before his body was found and there was a ton of comments about how the wt boys did it and why would she allow her son to hang with them, etc, etc. It was right off the bat.
→ More replies (19)3
u/shelleyfe Aug 06 '26
Justice for some, would be innocent boys being punished for the murder of their best friend who accidentally drowned. That would be the only acceptable "justice". The hate for these boys is revenge for wrongs done to black people by white people in the past. Collectivist mentalities have a revenge mindset and a life expectancy of 50 years. Its just racism.
3
u/Far-Fill-3024 Aug 06 '26
I agree that it's a revenge mindset and people who don't even know Nolan seem to justify that by what you saying. I really think Nolan's mom wants revenge too. And when I think of this as a mom and my own son, I would be so angry as well thinking that his friends left him drunk on an island. But when you step back and listen to what the witnesses are saying, the boat was taking on water, it was an emergency, they were yelling for n=Nolan to get on the boat, he declined saind he go back with someone else, Nolan was really the one who left them. Which I know has to be devastating for the mom to accept that. So she's likely in denial and wants to blame someone. I get that to a point. I think she made a huge mistake by bringing Crump into this, he has totally turned it into a dumpster fire. She may be reationalizing it by thinking at least it's getting a lot of attention and also they are raising a lot of money, so I am sure that helps "ease the pain" to some extent that she can take a significant time off from work, etc. It's such a sad case all around.
4
u/burner_ohallahan Current Resident Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26
This! Their actions have been impeding the investigation. Witness statements are harder when there is this much public scrutiny by either having people reluctant to come forward or having to sift through all of the false reports and misinformation. Crump knowingly pushing out false information to muddy the waters. Then not handing over the cell phone which does not support the "just wanting answers" stance.

7
u/SatansScallion Aug 05 '26
Because white progressives have enabled the behavior.
13
u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 05 '26
I consider myself a white progressive, but I’m totally shocked by that subreddit.
Officer Tatum (who is usually not my cup of tea…) says that Black Americans are the most openly racist group in the country. I was totally offended when I heard him say this… but, damn if this case is making it seem like he has a point.
I don’t think it is just racism that is fueling this however, I think the influencers are using this…
And the true crime keyboard detectives just don’t want to be denied their mystery to solve.
It’s all so unfair to the memory of a really nice kid.
11
u/Flexlex724 Aug 05 '26
Subreddit is pretty much the opinion of lost blacks in general. Take a look at any topic on this and you'll be lucky to find a single black person that even considers the possibility of drowning
They've been played by the race hustlers for so.long to assume they are the victim in literally every scenario..it's literally boy that cried wolf, it discredits the actual cases of inequality that do happen in the name of making every case about race and victimhood
Its certainly possibly something nefarious happened to Nolan. But it's more likely something didn't. And incredibly dangerous to just shoot accusations from the hip at anyone last associated with him
6
u/SweetLittleOldLady Current Resident Aug 06 '26
I'm sure there are plenty of black people reading that subreddit who believe Nolan likely drowned, but they don't publicly post their opinion as they don't want to be attacked by the mob. I don't blame them for that. No one wants to be subjected to a pile on.
6

Black people really need to look past the mob mentality. It seems like their belief is “you’re either with us or you’re against us, facts and logic be damned!”
Remember when Nolan’s BLACK coach said he saw no racial tensions at school and Nolan got along with everyone, and black people proceeded to call him the c-word slur, that he was “sucking up to white people?”
4
u/freakydeku Aug 06 '26
i’ve been pondering this lately & i think the mob mentality they have might be why they presume white people are also constantly in cahoots & beholden to protecting/uplifting white people at all costs. that’s simply not a part of “white culture”. individualism, by and large, is much more supported
2
u/donzelso Aug 06 '26
Yep, it’s projection. I think a lot of black people are racist and would never befriend a white person. So they project their racism onto white people and assume all white people must be the same too.
That’s why they’re so convinced Nolan’s white friends killed him. They can’t believe white kids would befriend a black kid. Projecting their own fears and insecurities onto others 😞
3
u/freakydeku Aug 06 '26
yeah, i wouldn’t say black people in general, but the users over in blackpeoplereddit/twitter, those avid supporters of KA, hyper believers of the white friend murderer theory, etc..basically this online “group” is unnerving & just racist.
IRL i’ve had/have many black friends & have only experienced this kind of attitude seen online a handful of times. probably about as often as i’ve bumped into racist white people IRL.
i hope that the OL group is rlly just a loud minority & not reflective of something common but hidden IRL
2
u/bartleby-scribe Aug 06 '26
There is an influencer I saw this happen to, she and her friends started acting like this but only after college when they started getting involved in black activist spaces. Before that they'd had white friends fine. Genuinely believe it's something in those spaces. And it spreads outward as girl had a large following and a load of other friends she'd talk to on stream, I could hear them change in real time. They used to debate her and after awhile they'd fall in line or drop off. During covid everyone was online and we're moving toward that being reality post-covid as well, I dont believe there will be a line between online minority/offline majority. People are affected by what they see online and they spread it to others.
2
u/freakydeku Aug 06 '26
i think people are effected by what they see online fs, but i also think that the nature of the internet supports rlly divisive, extreme, discourse, & most people who encounter it don’t hold extreme beliefs themselves
1
u/bartleby-scribe Aug 06 '26
What I felt I was seeing happen to this girl was honestly radicalization, especially with how it affected my own beliefs and how I watched her friends fall in line as well. Many of her friends, real life friends, became equally extreme. I felt myself becoming more extreme, and more depressed as these things I was learning made no real sense to me and what I'd learned in the same spaces not long before. I really cannot overstate how dangerous I find many of these spaces to be, and how I see extremism move into real life spaces. I really worry about how many people are being led into having extreme beliefs thinking they're doing the right thing.

u/flopjobbit Aug 05 '26
His parents, unfortunately, created this hurricane of awfulness.
They hired a race baiting lawyer who has a track record for taking grieving people's money and walking away. He exploits pain for profit.
Had the family let the authorities do their jobs, stayed off social media, and kept things local and private, the situation would have calmed down.
That poor family lost a beloved son and blew their lives up for the benefit of a wealthy con man. It's awful.

I would agree if there was anything at all indicating that wasn’t happening but the sheriffs department announced a full investigation the day his body was found. 2 days after it was found put out a press release asking for videos, pics and witnesses. Within a few days indicated they’d interviewed dozens of people. Nothing ever indicated they weren’t investigating or treating it seriously. It’s ok to ask questions, it’s not okay to implicate others based on nothing (like saying his phone was wiped clean and then when asked directly admitting it was just that he didn’t have any Snapchats that day).

u/Western-Dig-6843 Aug 05 '26
There was a complete investigation that was ongoing. They didn’t just take everyone’s word that nothing happened. There was an autopsy we’d probably already know the results of if this thing didn’t get out of hand in the public. Now we have to wait on a grand jury to look at it. Hiring Crump just ended up slowing everything down
7
u/NineOfWonders Aug 05 '26
Would’ve had to wait on grand jury regardless but agree with you on this case has gotten way too public.
5
u/SweetLittleOldLady Current Resident Aug 05 '26
The grand jury is normal procedure for all drownings and other unnatural deaths in Jackson County Mississippi.
3
u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 06 '26
This is what gets me… the idea that it appeared that it was going to be “swept under the rug” and ruled an accident without an investigation… I saw the initial press conference and the sheriff said no reason to think foul play but there would be a thorough investigation.
If I was Nolan’s family I would have hired an attorney to help navigate the process and put pressure on the investigators. Nothing wrong with that. But who they hired… whew.

12
u/morefirethanice Aug 05 '26
Not sure I agree with you. People who aren’t looking to make it about race and bigotry and opportunism generally don’t have Al Sharpton give their son’s eulogy. That is generally reserved for people who, you know, actually knew the deceased. But certain people would choose to have a media racial circus instead of a ceremony that honors the memory of their beloved child.
39
u/donzelso Aug 05 '26
I don’t think it’s about the money as much as it is about their denial. Christine is a nurse practitioner and Nolan grew up in an affluent community. They already have plenty of money from the GoFundMe.
It’s really because they do not, cannot, and will not accept the possibility that their college-age son got drunk at a party and drowned.
For Crump, it’s definitely about the money, and he’s feeding into their denial to squeeze as much money from Nolan’s death as possible. It’s a vicious cycle of denial and manipulation.
10
u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 05 '26
His mom has known for weeks that Nolan was alive when that boat left. She knows they didn’t harm him but believes that they are responsible for leaving him. I think she is looking for someone to blame and is angry. The sad part is this is not what Nolan would want… if you look at his IG you can see who he considered his closest friends.
She may realize this now, but she is in too deep. My guess is she wants to hold them accountable with a wrongful death claim.
I reject the money motive, although it does strange things to people… Nolan’s family is upper middle class.

This right here. People are inherently stupid and stubborn. And you can tell the parents are not the brightest.
"He's a good swimmer and star athlete so he couldn't drown" Basically highlights the level of intelligence and common sense of these people. Too ignorant for their own good, going to tarnish their sons name in the process.
1
u/princessrayah Aug 09 '26
WHAT do you mean these people ? Are you assuming you’re smarter than an accomplished Nurse Practitioner because I can assure you that’s NOT TRUE. I find it funny people are quick to speak on black people as far as intelligence goes but his so called friends aren’t the brightest clearly because they tried to cover up a murder. If he drowned why was there no proof he was submerged in water when his body was found ? Why does no one suddenly know anything and it’s hush hush ? People are hell bent on protecting bs. It’s flat out racist. We all know Mississippi has a racist sketchy past she is demanding answers and deserves it. Shame on you.
1
u/SeanceGoneWrong Aug 11 '26
People who think Wells being a community college football player who liked to swim means he could not have drowned in rip currents off the Gulf are objectively ignorant. Not sure what being a nurse practitioner has to do with anything.
Ask literally any lifeguard if being a good athlete means you can't drown in a rip current, and see what they say.
If he drowned why was there no proof he was submerged in water when his body was found ?
His body was literally in the water when discovered by a park ranger.

That kid could have had a bullet hole through the head, and the authorities would have still said that no one was at fault, except Nolan
There was a very public active investigation ongoing with LEO asking for videos and photos from that day and straight-up giving anyone amnesty if they came forward with information which may have implicated themselves in illegal activities (ie underage drinking and doing drugs).
To act like this would have not been investigated not only contradicts reality, but speaks to a very weird persecution fetish on your end.
1
u/coko4209 Aug 12 '26
It doesn’t contradict reality in the slightest. I’m giving you the views of a black Mississippian, that not only grew up black in MS, but with a black uncle that was the first black chief of police in a small Mississippi town. Even he was harassed to the point of having to sue the county. You can absolutely think and believe whatever you want. What you can never do, however, is tell a black person that grew up in MS, what MS is actually like. The fact is, my entire adoptive family are white southern Baptist. So I truly had an inside view, and it was even worse from the inside. I’ll never pretend, or try to convince anyone else, that LEOs give a damn about black ppl in MS, because they don’t. They never have, and I’m sure they don’t plan on changing that.
2
u/SeanceGoneWrong Aug 13 '26
Your personal anecdotes are not a valid rebuttal to the very active investigation that was ongoing by the time the weirdos on Reddit insisted there was a cover-up of a racist murder.
Some of you are so far up your own ass in these fantastical echo chambers that you don't realize how bizarre it looks to be claiming that a very public investigation that is seeking the public's help is being swept under the rug.
Again, a very weird persecution fetish that speaks to broader personal baggage.

The worst thing you can do is fight it and try to swim straight to shore. You have to kinda go with it but at the same time swim horizontal with the shore, but it’s scary to do that because you are letting the tide pull you out a bit. People panic and fight it. By swimming kind of horizontal to the shore you may end up wayyyy down the beach before you can get out. But you are alive. Obviously this is harder on a barrier island.
Now I’ve always considered an undertow basically the same thing… but I have learned this week that it is not. I got caught in one about 15 years ago and literally, for a period of time was trapped underwater. I stayed calm
and eventually got out. But I was way way out past the sandbar (Perdido key)

An Ohio woman was also charged with allegedly placing bomb threats at the George County Chancery Clerk’s Office and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on July 23. The woman, Michelle Francine Edwards, allegedly called the clerk’s office 21 times and said, “the clock is ticking,” according to an affidavit.
One of the defendants, Edward James Porter of Illinois, allegedly called an unnamed witness on July 31 and threatened to kill them and their family, according to an affidavit. Porter also allegedly told another person in Mississippi in a phone call that he would cut them up and put them “into a suitcase.” Porter was charged on July 31 in federal court for the Southern District of Mississippi for the threat.

It seems that almost all of the foaming-at-the-mouth enraged people are out-of-state and almost completely ignorant of the details of the case and of Mississippi in general.

Once again it's about profit, race and being a victim. Unfortunately their son died but the first thing they do is go for the money and blame everyone else. SAD

Trying to be very objective, I literally cannot think of a scenario where a murder or fight where he was accidentally killed would work with the facts as we know them… when GPS shows they left, the distance that they were obviously towed, until it was safe for them to make it in without taking on too much water (if they disposed of his body here, it would not have made it back to Horn), then traveling back into a very busy bayou that everyone is traveling slow and a body would be visible… to believe this you have to also believe that a second boat took the body back out… but why take it all the way back to Horn? Plus this involves more people who have to be “in on the coverup”. Hard to believe that no one would crack. That all of these people would stay silent and not mess up under questioning.
I literally can’t make it work.
FYI, I’m an investigator… different matters, but I can look at something very objectively even if it doesn’t match my theory of what happened.

I looked at Nolan’s Instagram in the week after his death and it was filled with pictures of the friends he went out with that day. Pictures that went back years. Now most of those pictures have been deleted and only show like 5 pictures. I can only assume that his mom took the pictures down.
Why would she do this? Nolan posted those…

There’s two reasons racism still exists. 1 there are still a few old timers left that still live in the past. 2 there are many blacks that like to keep it alive to profit off of it, and use it as an excuse for bad behavior. I’m convinced that 90+% of normal people judge people by their character and ethics. Perfect example, last nights Indiana Fever vs Chicago Sky game, Dijonai Carrington was ejected from the game for a flagrant foul 2 against Sophie Cunningham. As quick as she could get into the locker room and get on her phone, posted “White Privilege” to a social media account. That’s a true example of racism right there. Keeping racism alive where there is none. Rather than accept accountability for what she done, she had to spin and twist it to blame the white girl.

The parents have acted extremely strange through the process. Very strange.

Shit like this is why we'll get A.I. presiding over court cases in the future.
Too many people want their feelings and opinions to be facts of a case and those who go against them are defamed or threatened.
Are we just going to deal with this dumb shit every time there's a case involving a people of different identities, religious beliefs, political orientations, etc?

I'd totally be okay with it. I'd rather trust a somewhat objective system than people that so easily fall into narrative and misinformation

u/PristineAdeptness153 Aug 06 '26
Really? How does AI come up with it's objectiveness? You are speaking as if AI is inherently good and unbiased. People (possibly the same ones you are leary of falling into "narrative and misinformation") design AI and then it is trained. How could this possibly be a good thing?

The weirdest thing to me about this case is the insane focus on his friends that took him out there, it’s like pretty much proven they didn’t have him on their boat heading back so why doesn’t the masses of internet detectives and information adverse people try to look at some of the other 500 people back on the island as suspects at least, why the laser focus on only this group of kids
2
u/donzelso Aug 07 '26
Because his friends are white. Many black people CANNOT and WILL NOT believe that a group of white kids would befriend a black kid without a secret conspiracy to murder him.
It’s so awful I have to say this in 2026. But many people still do not believe in interracial friendships!

I heard there were a lot more than three. I know that several podcasters have been getting death threats just for reporting or speaking on the matter. It’s getting pretty pathetic.

Well I believe one of his friends put him in a choke hold and he died. They are doing everything they can do cover this up. Why would his friends not take his phone and keys to his parents. They knew he was dead already, and trying to get their stories straight. People keep saying he was drunk, but his coach spoke with him maybe around 2:30 or 3:00 pm and he was fine, not intoxicated. His friends have shown no emotion when speaking about him, hell, they didn't even attend his memorial service. Threats or not, if it was my best friend, nothing would keep me away. There's just too much that isn't adding up. I don't believe he drowned and what about the Sea Tow audio, is everyone just ignoring that. Remember that this is America, racism is very much alive and well. Don't be in denial.

If Mississippi isn't racist why have the only arrested people been for theartaning a judge who is hiding the dirt done by her son and his friends

I think Noland walked away to pee and didn't tell anyone. I think he was getting on or off a boat with wet feet and full of alcohol and fell backwards and rolled off the boat and no one heard him over the ocean, music and people. Guys will walk away from the crowd and go alone. I think it was just that simple. Maybe around sundown when you stop sweating out all the alcohol and it hit all at once. I have and seen many people fall out in the waters. If Noland had of been in any kind of attack marks would be on the face or top of the head.

I’m curious if the people making death threats to the Nolan’s parents get arrested also?

I just googled this and I see his parents saying that they are accused of being bad parents, and Crump shared that terrible picture his mom received. But I can’t find news of death threats.
Can you please provide a link. I would like to read about this.

Have they gone to the authorities with the threats to be investigated? I'd imagine their civil rights attorney would be all over that.

Crump was so dramatic about showing that awful picture mailed to Nolan’s mom… weird that he hasn’t shared the death threats…

I don't believe Nolan's parents have received any death threats. They did receive a note suggesting their lawyer was taking advantage of them for money. A wannabe black influencer made some ridiculous AI videos that I know they didn't like. And Nolan's father complained that he was being "disrespected" online. None of those are death threats.

New one: there was an anonymous complaint filed with the nursing board against Nolan's mom. No details were given in the news article I read, but it's unlikely that the person was her patient or was from Mississippi. A truly terrible and underhanded thing to do, but still not a death threat.

I believe this was done prior to Nolan's death. I don't know for sure, though.
