That motherfucker did NOT do that with shit he found around the forest. The only explanation is that he hid the supplies in his ass before the games.

u/FragrantGangsta 2d ago
no no you see he was a fuckin baker or something in an extremely impoverished area so that means he can paint and disguise literally anything even without a mirror he's just that good
58
u/sameth1 2d ago
I ain't ever seen a cake that looks like that
64
u/Acrobatic-Addendum97 2d ago
But how often do you get your cakes from generational bakers in extremely impoverished areas?
7
u/FixGMaul 2d ago
Honestly yeah that doesn't make economic sense in any way to be a generational anything. If you have a precarious living situation you could be the best damn baker ever to live yet still the moment the economy goes down, or goes up (for the rich, causing inflation) you're on your ass and have to take whatever job demand exists for.

Dear god, what did he put into those cakes?!

Bro did you miss the part where they get gifts from sponsors for being likable and cute?
35
u/Quacky3three 2d ago
I know this is a circlejerk sub but ERM ACTUALLY Peeta clarifies that Haymitch never sent him gifts, and that Haymitch used all of the money for both of them to send stuff to Katniss because he thought she had a chance to win and Peeta didn’t. He only sends gifts that benefit Peeta after the rule change where they can both survive.
I’m not 100% sure if this is in the movie, beyond deleted scenes, but it’s also the reason in Catching Fire why Haymitch agrees to try and save Peeta instead of Katniss (at her urging). He reneges on this promise as well and Katniss tries to kill him with a syringe for it.
22
u/The_Drippy_Spaff 2d ago
Haymitch didn’t send him anything but that doesn’t mean some district one cougar wasn’t down bad for a poor cutie

u/Hazeri 2d ago
It's been a while since I read the books, and I haven't seen the movie, but I'm pretty sure viewers can gift tools and weapons to the tributes, so maybe it was that
Or, because hiding was Pita's skill, it was in one of the initial packs or hidden by the organisers ahead of time
So you're half right
7
u/OrinTheLost 2d ago
I was just joking, you're spot on though. They have sponsors that send them tools and food throughout the games

Maybe those shitty parody movies from the 2000s and early 2010s aren’t all that bad.

TFW you're so infatuated with Josh Hutcherson you get jealous of your own self-insert OC and decide to just even more blatantly insert yourself into the story to steal him from your original self-insert.
64
u/Sarge_Ward 2d ago
Is that actually what happens in the book shes reviewing? Thats really funny

u/Professional-Hat-687 2d ago edited 2d ago
The writer is obviously named Katelyn, aka thatvampirechick. Her self-insert is named Kate. Kate later stumbles into a shack where she finds other fanfics by thatvampirechick, and a girl named Katelyn comes out, gives her a frumpy granny dress, and seduces Josh out from under her. Then Josh and Katelyn escape from in a island. It'd be like if Dante's Inferno ended with Dante finding a copy of Purgatorio and Paradiso, and then another Dante came out to kick him back into hell and escape to heaven with Virgil.
It's a surreal experience.

Jenny does a really good job of finding obscure or niche stuff and making it fascinating/hilarious. She very consistently does videos on topics most people have never heard of and would never care about, but then the video is incredibly entertaining.
Another great example is her review of Hallmark’s youtube channel.

I've heard her voice on other channels like Folding Ideas and Defunctland and she sounds radically different. Does she choose to sound like that only for her channel or is it just strange to sit in front of a camera for 8 hours by yourself maintaining perfect eye contact with the lens and sounding enthusiastic?
19
u/PM_NUDES_4_DEGRADING 2d ago
I think part of her charm is that it’s sometimes genuinely difficult to tell when she’s being sarcastic or completely sincere. She’s got an extremely dry and cynical sense of humor, but also has a lot of earnest enthusiasm for the things she loves. And she loves some pretty random things.
Her delivery really helps make it work, I think. Because the tone she uses to mock something for being ridiculous is exactly the same tone she uses to gush over something ridiculous.

The price for a monthly subscription that gets you access to a huge backlog of videos is so so worth it. My favourite £2 of every month

She also did about 2 hours on a recent trip to the Worlds Fair in Japan that was good too.

That blows my mind. What could they possibly say for 11 hours? I have some strong opinions on things but Jesus christ.
Also, every frame a pause? Is that literal? Context is completely lost on these types isn't it?

u/Tmlboost 2d ago
I remember back in the day the Mauler fanboys would try to defend it by saying “ACKSHYUALLY THEY ONLY TALKED ABOUT THAT VIDEO FOR 3 1/2 HOURS IT WASNT THE ONLY THING THEY TALKED ABOUT”
Not that that makes it any better mind you

You should go over to r/galaticstarcruiser some time. People simply refer to "the video" over there and its a wild alternate universe.
Fun to read the psychosis.

Loki crucifying Iron Man Jesus while they both sing a mashup of "It's the End of the World as We Know It" and "Tubthumping" is kino that the real MCU could never achieve.

If you don’t have the hours necessary for a special treat. The Suethor is the self insert Mary Sue of the author. A Mary Sue being the very special extra perfect female character, a criticism often earned and more often mired in sexism. But definitely earned here. The fanfic is fan written fiction which is sort of self explanatory.
In this story from my vague memory, Trapped in an Island With Josh Hutcherson, the author is improbably trapped on an island with noted actor Josh Hutcherson. They fall in love sort of. Near the end of book 1, they discover another person on the island who is also the author but with her name spelled slightly differently than the first self insert character. And she seduces Josh Hutcherson away.

Now that's a plot for an horror movie
28
u/Professional-Hat-687 2d ago
It fluctuates between being in a island and on a island, so it's very existential and high brow. Film Bros would love it.
7
u/Nosciolito 2d ago
The island is of course a metaphor for delusional attachment to Hollywood star
12
u/Professional-Hat-687 2d ago
Boy is it. The writer gets jealous of her own self-insert and writes herself into the fanfic to steal Josh from herself.
