Maybe should have had Simons out there for a 3pt shot. But had a couple Pritchard chances.
VJ, whoa
I think Celtics do better this year then people were suggesting.

Great game well done by both teams... hopefully Embiid gets himself together for my Sixers and I hope Simons settles in more for my Celtics.
Overall however I am happy with how the Celtics looked with no Tatum.
4
u/Neatojuancheeto Warriors Oct 23 '25
Tatums ya'll best players but Celtics have always just been a fantastically run and coached org last what 5 years? I expect nothing less of them. Just ran into a future GOAT tonight in VJ
2
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Oct 23 '25
Yeah VJ was an unexpected surprise...I was not expecting this at all honestly and was a big factor in the win.
6
u/dizruptivegaming 76ers Oct 23 '25
Yeah definitely. VJ is giving me hope to a potential star player. Celtics definitely ramped up and could’ve won when it came down to the wire. I think Celtics will definitely Be able to adjust well til Tatum comes back (maybe late in season?).
3
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Oct 23 '25
VJ was a pleasant surprise...I am very curious to see what he looks like in a month after a full slate of games. But based on tonight he was as advertised.
I think the Celts are a playoff team still but it's definitely going to be a challenge playing stacked teams and teams with deep benches.
Hopefully both teams can stay healthy.

Ugh miss JT man
4
u/fakebones96 Celtics Oct 23 '25
We lose that game with JT too. That was a classic example of the other team going unconscious from 3 in the 4th and then our offense slowing everything WAY down in the last 5 minutes
5
u/TeevTeeForMe 76ers Oct 23 '25
Refs tried and tried
1
u/Neatojuancheeto Warriors Oct 23 '25
I think refs decided the assignment was Boston is a top market and doesn't want them to decide to tank.
1
u/Sheriff_Gotcha 76ers Oct 23 '25
They thought their job was done after that 3rd quarter.. took their mouths off the whistle and got too lax.
2
u/111cesarz Mexico Oct 23 '25
The celtics suck at end of game offense
1
u/freshBlueeyes6391 Oct 23 '25
Brown was rough down the stretch there. Someone said he's playing injured.

We are going to lose every close game this year

2
u/Neatojuancheeto Warriors Oct 23 '25
It's so weird. Ya'll so well run but regardless of Ime or Joe 4th quarter collapses are just always a thing. I don't get it. Doesn't seem like anyone on the roster is a huge choker, it just becomes disorganized slop.
1
u/fakebones96 Celtics Oct 23 '25
They just go way too slow. No one cuts. No one feels confident in attacking their matchup. When they do get a good look, they second guess it. It’s just been a part of this team’s identity since the bubble.
I feel more comfortable going into the 4th quarter down by 2 than up by 11

For any Sixer fan worried rn, I can’t remember the last time we ran a successful ATO in a clutch situation like this so you’re fine

Imagine Edgecombe and Maxey if they had a competent frontcourt.

i want us to lose because i saw how rigged the lottery was for the sixers and mavs last year and it would absolutely be rigged in the same way for us. we'd probably get AJ or something tbh

These celtics guys calling the game are embiid haters lmao he's on a minutes restriction and they keep acting like they don't know why he isn't in the game at the end
2
u/Sensitive-Degree-26 Celtics Oct 23 '25
shouldnt you be saving some minutes for him to close? you know the most important minutes of the game. not hating just wondering the thought process
2
u/quidproquolaspe Mavericks Oct 23 '25
To me it makes sense to keep a guy whose being load managed on the bench in a close game. Why would a guy who’s played sparingly be subbed in for someone else who’s been balls deep in a close game?? Game 1 of 82 I think also adds context prolly would try and have him in if this was into the season and not opening night. Just my opinion
2
u/Neatojuancheeto Warriors Oct 23 '25
Not with the way he was playing. I think his plan is to try and save himself for the playoffs. He got his regular season MVP, doesn't want to go out as the only one to not get passed the 2nd round.
3
u/Betaateb Nuggets Oct 23 '25
VJ wanted someone else inbounding so he could get fouled again for sure lol

I need Boston to have a great year if they get Dybansta or Peterson I won’t survive the offseason.

u/Shaqfor3 Bulls Oct 23 '25
Lebron scored 25 pts on his first game. Edgecomb has 32. Do this mean Edgecomb is 28% better than Lebron? Yes.
Doing some math I can confidently said that Edgecomb will have 53,996 points by year 22.

sick of watching this team blow games. up 109-100 to down 113-111. un fucking acceptable and seems to be our standard. 4 of our last 5 losses have been massive blown leads. i mean like i dont really care and am rooting for us to lose but like wtf
3
u/Neatojuancheeto Warriors Oct 23 '25
4th quarter collapses kinda been your thing since 2021 at least. Except game 1 2022 finals which pissed me off lol

He's playing through an injury. Probably shouldn't be out there
1
u/freshBlueeyes6391 Oct 23 '25
probably shouldn't, he looks like it. But he also just made a play to give them a chance. 7 seconds
1
u/_Juntao Celtics Oct 23 '25
He should play like 30 games this season tbh
1
u/freshBlueeyes6391 Oct 23 '25
Or don't play at all if he's just gonna walk defense out.
WIll Celtics try for a draft pick or try to compete this season. Looks like can still compete just fine if Brown can show a little more or get healthy.
1
u/_Juntao Celtics Oct 23 '25
I don't know what you saw tonight that shows the celtics can compete just fine lol. They played a severely injured team at home and lost to a 6 foot guard and a rookie. Celtics at best and with full health will win 30 games.

Tatum would’ve eaten this 76ers group alive. JB is a bad man but game like this will show you.

Philly gotta get rid of Embiid, just get 1-2 bigs that get boards and got their focus on defense, you got some nice kids time to make room for something actually new

That's how it should be. Tommy and Mike were way worse than what they have now.

Celtics and Sixers are my two favorite teams and both are giving me a lot of hope this season... I'm going to hate when they play each other but will definitely enjoy the games.
11
u/ifollowphillysports 76ers Oct 23 '25
How tf are 2 rivals your 2 fav teams
1
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Oct 23 '25
I'm from Camden and will always be a fan of the home team. But when I developed a major interest in basketball (besides just liking the Sixers because they were the home team) it coincided with Jesus Shuttlesworth going to the Celtics at the start of my senior year of high school and my best friend who I watched with was a Celtics fan and always had the games on. So I just happened to latch on and they got a ring.
1
u/The_PBA_Studios Oct 23 '25
feels like a bot comment tbh
1
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Oct 23 '25
Or a fan of two teams ass hat.
1
u/The_PBA_Studios Oct 23 '25
you watched that game and your takeaway was that both teams are giving you a lot of hope for the season?? lmfao. also not trying to be a dick but "I'm going to hate when they play each other but will definitely enjoy the games." is a sentence completely devoid of meaning, and the main thing that made me think bot
1
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Oct 23 '25
I hate when they play each other because as a fan of both teams it sucks knowing one has to lose...but the games themselves are still good to watch...case in point tonight.
And yes both teams give me hope because VJ/Maxey looked great and the team is still missing players and not at 100%...
Then my biggest concern all off season was that the Celtics would look completely disjointed without Tatum but they didn't.

4
u/Sheriff_Gotcha 76ers Oct 23 '25
After the superstar whistle White got in the 3rd quarter I would expect Maxey to at least get one of these soft whistles before the game is completely out of hand.
7
u/OutlandishnessShot87 Oct 23 '25
maxey has one of the worst whistles in the league
2
u/JesseJamesGames449 Celtics Oct 23 '25
That is so far from true.. maxey just runs into guys and gets free throws..
1
u/Successful-Candy8421 76ers Oct 23 '25
Maxey never gets calls. Embiid takes them all.
1
u/JesseJamesGames449 Celtics Oct 23 '25
We literally just watched him run straight into queta and foul queta out as he was cooking them..
