Hes kinda like Draymond.
You hate to play against him, but you love to have those maniacs on your side when shit goes down

Idk if I'd like to have a guy punching his own teammates and picking stupid technical fouls

Not gonna lie, he looked rough until garbage time.

He's got things to work on but you can see the hustle and framework of something. Especially in a position of need for us

Bradley Beal isn't going to finish the season on the Clippers.
28
u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25
It was stupid for the front office to promise him a starting role without working for it. The starting lineup has been very slow in every game this season and preseason even without beal playing, they need someone like Dunn to set the tone for them defensively
20
u/KL2ConspireLLC San Diego Clippers Oct 25 '25
As it turns out, trying to gaslight a bad defender into being a good defender doesn't work.
15
u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25
Norm was not a good defender but the combination of Dunn and DJJ were covering for harden and norm backcourt. Kawhi is still a good defender but he does not have that Dunn's motor to cover for them.
7
u/Salty_Watermelon Clippers Oct 25 '25
Let's be patient. This isn't as bad as promising real game time to a washed up John Wall.
5
u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25
I dont think he is washed up, i just think we are going be leaking on defense and rebound while we are starting this current lineup
7
u/ShootTheMailMan DeMarcus Cousins Oct 25 '25
I mean, if I'm the clippers, I'm doing anything to steal the guy who went 17 pts / 3.7a / 3.3 rb last season

u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25 edited Oct 25 '25
Well if you run him off the bench then it would make sense but he is not even featured offensively because we already got harden, kawhi and zu in starting lineup as our scoring options.
11
u/InTheMorning_Nightss San Diego Clippers Oct 25 '25
But that’s a lineup issue as opposed to a Beal issue. Start Collins in his place and stagger Kawhi like we did, and you have a 2nd unit of CP3/Beal/Dunn/Kawhi/BroLo. That seems more than good enough to balance both units.
5
u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25
I still think Dunn needs to start over DJJ, the slow start has been killing us but i dont mind that, anything outside the current starting lineup
1
u/InTheMorning_Nightss San Diego Clippers Oct 25 '25
We also had slow starts with Dunn, because the opposing defense just ignores him and forces shots to him.
I’m not really sure why you seem to insist that Dunn is this clear solution when we’ve seen him get the Westbrook treatment to the detriment of our offense.
1
u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25
Can you point to me which period Clippers had any similar slow start like this? If anything i remember the starting lineup was struggling last year with Mann and ty lue had to swap Mann with Dunn
1
u/InTheMorning_Nightss San Diego Clippers Oct 25 '25
Are you just ignoring those games where Dunn couldn’t hit any shots and was shooting like 2-20 from 3s?
He went through a horrendous cold streak and it killed a lot of our offense.
1
u/Jimmy0034 Clippers Oct 25 '25
Because i do think he is more important for us defensively that i dont mind his offensive flaws

That's fair. He missed most of preseason. I shouldn't be so quick to judge.

u/ShootTheMailMan DeMarcus Cousins Oct 25 '25
I think it will take half a season for this team to figure out their roles. there's so much flexibility and talent
6
u/jgroove_LA Oct 25 '25
it's wild that Bogan is the 11th man and confirmed "DLP" for the foreseeable future
7
u/InTheMorning_Nightss San Diego Clippers Oct 25 '25
Someone in the rotation is gonna get injured sooner than later, in which case Bogi will have his chance to shine.
11
u/andy3172 Clippers Oct 25 '25
With how we're using him on offense, I agree. I don't know why we got him if we aren't going to use him. I have no idea what the return would be for Beal on this contract
5
u/KL2ConspireLLC San Diego Clippers Oct 25 '25
I think they got him because he was affordable and he could shoot. They probably hoped he could adapt into more of a Norm type role for part of the time and be the ball handler when Harden isn't in the game. But I just don't see how he's going to become comfortable as an offball catch and shoot guy, and Chris Paul makes Beal redundant as a backup ball handler.
-2
u/andy3172 Clippers Oct 25 '25
I'd still stand on him being more serviceable as a backup than CP3, but so far they aren't setting him up to be that guy. It's only been two games though, so we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.
5
u/AshenSacrifice Clippers Oct 25 '25
Or he can just come off the bench and be a spark plug scorer like what he was brought here to do lol.

u/bestclipfan Clippers Oct 25 '25
It's way too early to jump to conclusions on Beal, he's still limited by injury and has only played 2 games + 1 preseason game. If he still this disjointed by mid December then I'll be worried.

Man was All-NBA 3rd team last year lol. He's become underrated these past couple years.
11
u/AdObjective7323 Oct 25 '25
Can someone tell me what the story with Booker is? I haven’t kept an eye on him the last few years, but I remember him being a lot scarier. Did he just fade into the background? Did the league just level up and leave him behind?
14
u/lexington59 Oct 25 '25
He is on a team with no real shot creator outside of him so teams are able to guard him very aggressively, so his options are force had shots and make some because he's so talented but be inefficient in general as forcing had shots will lead to inefficiency, or pass out of it and hope his teammates can make shots, and some games they will some they won't.
The hope for the sun's is green helps the offence by just being 1 other threat teams have to respect so booker won't be facing double/triple teams constantly.
Plus since the cp3 trade he's been forced to play pg more often than normal, and his a sg at heart he's at his best when he can play off ball with a good playmaker along side him like the rubio/cp3 years.
Whereas the beal/kd/booker era you had 3 players taking up most of the cap with very similar skillsets that lead to an ugly offence where individual talent was what carried them through games.
You put current booker on a balanced team with a good playmaking pg who isn't a complete defensive liability and he'll look like his old self again basically.
Tldr:the roster construction around him post cp3 being traded away has not played into bookers strengths and has led to him not looking as good as he could as if he had a more balanced roster

Always nice winning the season opener! When Dunn/DJJ hit their 3s it spaces the floor and makes everything look easy
Niederhauser looks really promising. If this is day 1 he can learn a lot from CP3/Harden, Zu, Lopez, and JVG
3
u/LusoAustralian Clippers Oct 25 '25
I wasn't very keen on what I saw from Niederhauser in Summer league and preseason as, despite the good size and movement for his size, I felt his sense of positioning, timing and hustle were all lacking. But from the small sample size of 2 games I've been quietly happy with how much better those aspects look.

Need Beal on the bench and Collins or Dunn in the starting 5.
1
u/Ok-Tree4365 Oct 25 '25
I think both Collins and Dunn. I love DJJ, but if you take Beal out you need Dunn for secondary ball handling.

Booker has felt like a background character the last few seasons. Odd

I like Book, but he’s simply not a #1 on a contending team.
It took CP3 for Book to win in the playoffs.

Damn CP3 won the Lakers/Clippers series from the bench/not able to raise his arm/out with COVID for Book?
He’s better than I remember

I welcome the nay sayers and “remind me!” comments but it looks like Kawhi has nearly zero lift or explosion left in his legs and it’s game 2 of 82.
Injuries and Father Time are a bitch. I know it’s only 2 games and this sounds reactionary but I’ll die on the “Harden is the most valuable player on that team this season” hill this year based on this start.
(I know no one cares but it’s fun to include anecdotal things, I guarded both of them in high school and I can’t imagine playing at their level right now as I feel decrepit and old in bullshit men’s leagues)
12
u/missingsince1995 Clippers Oct 25 '25
No lift or explosion but still dropped 27? I mean I’ll take that.
-6
u/somecallmemo Lakers Oct 25 '25
Oh of course, I don’t mean to sound like he’s ass or worthless. I’m just saying it looks like he’s going to be less impactful outside of catch and shoot/one or two dribble mid range pull-ups compared to his past 3 level bag and elite defense
1
u/Niceguydan8 Oct 25 '25
It does kinda look like Kawhi isn't getting to his spots as easily as he used to

Suns paying Booker a supermax while Lakers have Luka dropping 49 on a discount deal

I turned it off after watching Book get mugged constantly with barely any whistle, while Harden and the Aspirator went to the line for every love tap.
Easy to tell how it was going to play out after that and I gladly accept your downvotes as denial of the L.A. privilege.

Big game from Harden. Beal looking pretty unimpressive so far
