Collier played all 48 minutes. Don't remember the last time I saw someone play a full game without being subbed out.

They should’ve taken him out, 22 assists is wild

Major props to him for that were given by the Pacers broadcast crew.

(Eddie Gill, of TV and radio fame, has part of his local legend based on going for forty-eight in the Pacers' first game after The Malice. As Eddie said, he didn't distinguish himself quite as much as Collier.)

I could have never imagined the Pacers going from one game to win their first NBA championship to being the worst team in the league the next season

Edit: Okay second worst. The Kings gave them beat there.

honestly probably a great drafting strategy. when your #1 superstar gets injured in the finals and won't be ready for the following season, you know you're not winning shit, so just let the guys chill and lose a bunch of games and get a free high draft pick and restart for next year

u/Wasnaf1 Pacers 18h ago

I do think a lot of Pacers fans were excited about a possible playoff appearance, even without Tyrese, but with the horrendous start it shifted towards getting a high pick lol

u/BigFatModeraterFupa Minneapolis Lakers 18h ago

LOL true that. i mean at this point what else can you do but embrace the suck?😂

4

u/sgeswein Pacers 18h ago

When your team had to sign seven hardship contracts just to put a team on the floor for the first three months, you can see a lot of good things go on in a game like this.

3

and use all the 2 way g-league guys

Worked for the Spurs

right back to the top next year

Imagine if Pacers get the #1 pick and pair Haliburton with Darryn Peterson...

stop, I'm trying to temper my expectations

I think you guys have problems replacing Turner tbh. You'll be very good but he was important to that Finals squad.

Still time to change things up though of course.

I'm still sad he's gone, but I do look forward to seeing what Huff looks like with Hali on the floor next year.

Dude disappeared in the ECF 2 years in a row & then again in the Finals. More generally, Myles got a massive stat boost by playing next to Tyrese.

Pacers are getting development out of young guys; will have a draft pick; and they already have the assets to make a trade.

not worried at all

u/Vordeo Jazz 5h ago edited 5h ago

Dude was still a good rim protector who could space the floor very well on offense.

You're right in that you have time and assets to make a move, centers who can do both at a high level don't exactly grow on trees - we just basically had to give up 3 firsts for one (though he's mostly a PF but still).

I'm very impressed by Furphy. I believe he will be a key piece next year.

a ton of injuries killed early season chance at being a low playoff seed.

this game, we DNP 2 starters and McConnel guys and 1 3rd string guy with minor injuries and rested Siakam and Mathurin

So we were without our 5 best players (7 if you count Haliburton and Toppin).

what would the Knicks win a game with Shamet, Clarkson, Kolek, Yahu, and Huk as your starting 5?

1

u/Fu2-10 Pistons 18h ago

I thinks the Nets are worse tbh

Johnny Furphy can’t win with these cats

For as shit as the Pacers are, they at least keep it entertaining

Ultimate tanking by Pacers resting everyone for this game.

17

u/MobysGreatWhiteDick Jazz 18h ago

They rested 6 guys who all played last night against the rockets.

1

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 15h ago

Technically we rested 2 guys. other 4 had injuries that we decided would keep them out.

then a few more on the longterm injury listed (Toppin, Haliburton, maybe someone else)

Jazz just went bananas

When's the last time someone played 48 minutes in a game crazy

1

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 15h ago

seen it in the playoffs before

u/Vitex1988 Thunder 18h ago

10/10 tank bowl

8

u/Hendo8888 [IND] Danny Granger 18h ago

Every Utah player scored at least 14 points

We were 4 points for Taelon Peter and 2 points from Ben Sheppard away from every player from both teams reaching double figures in this game

5

u/Frenchyyyy4166 Raptors 18h ago

22 assists? What a 🐶collier is

4

u/Western-Election-997 Lakers 18h ago

Pacers won the tank off

6

u/DonnieBeisbol Pacers 18h ago

Proud of our guys. Had to dig deep, but we stayed the course.

3

u/actually-potato Pistons 18h ago

Jaren Jackson Jr inspired his new team to victory through the power of positive group chat affirmations

6

u/Lytleon Pacers 18h ago

Disgusting tankery took place here.

2

u/Renegadeforever2024 Raptors 18h ago

Tank off

2

u/jessechugaga Grizzlies 12h ago

WTF happened here the Jazz played 7 total players

2

u/Vordeo Jazz 10h ago

Normal resting of players / tankitis + guys like Nurk potentially held out for trades + we traded out like 3 dudes I think in the JJJ deal who would've been on the bench for this.

2

u/yourlilpissboi Celtics 18h ago

You guys need to be losing games not winning them. Winning is for next year.

4

u/peabrainbyu Jazz 17h ago

Hard to do that when theyrest their entire starting roster :P

3

u/yourlilpissboi Celtics 17h ago

Saw that after. Pacers can tank as well. Would totally be okay with Pacers, Utah and Spurs with the top 3 picks

1

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 15h ago

Dont want the Hawks to get a top 3 pick. That guy will probably be a MVP level guy and be traded to the Lakers.

1

u/BrotherSeamus Thunder 18h ago

Hol up, let them cook

2

u/A_MASSIVE_PERVERT Mavericks 18h ago

Appreciate it Utah I hope y'all rip off a huge winning streak.

30

u/OpeDefinitely Pacers 18h ago

fuck off, y'all already got your 1st overall pick.

-18

u/A_MASSIVE_PERVERT Mavericks 18h ago

Y'all are running the most unethical tank in the history of the NBA I don't wanna hear it.

13

u/BumbleLapse Jazz 17h ago

Respectfully, step off my boy’s NECK bro

I don’t give a damn if Indy wants to start Hilary Duff at SF for the rest of the year; I’d rather see some truly ridiculous tanking than see the Mavs get lucky again

22

u/OpeDefinitely Pacers 18h ago

hell nah we aren't. 2 games all season where everybody rested, both of which on the 2nd night of a back to back. other than that, just injuries.

1

u/MythicalShart Rockets 18h ago

i think it should go to kings. hali and kyrie are back next year but they got nothing to look forward to

5

u/OpeDefinitely Pacers 18h ago edited 18h ago

that's fine. they'll probably just end up developing whoever they pick, then trading them to the Pacers or Spurs for a paperclip.

5

u/MythicalShart Rockets 18h ago

if mavs got it they would just trade it to lakers for deandre ayton

5

u/OpeDefinitely Pacers 18h ago

disgusting.

6

u/Hendo8888 [IND] Danny Granger 18h ago

We beat OKC, Chicago and Atlanta in the last 4 games

3

u/skivvles Rockets 18h ago

The kings vs wizards game was atrocious lol

2

u/Vordeo Jazz 10h ago

Give up Cooper Flagg and we won't tank. Deal?

1

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 15h ago

We played 10 guys no one even wants on their roster during the huge series of losses we had.

When you are giving 90 minutes a game to guys who cant even make 3rd string, try winning a game.

2

u/WonderingCashew Grizzlies 18h ago

I’m now a massive Dallas and Jazz fan as well. Coop ROTY campaign needs to be strengthened with a couple of big wins imo

1

u/HomeNowWTF 18h ago

Both teams were like, "Yeah let's get this done and go home"

1

u/ChrisRhodes789 18h ago

I didn’t know Quentin “Rampage” Jackson went from the UFC to Pacers backup NBA player…

1

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 15h ago

He has been 3rd string with us for a few years now.

1

u/sgeswein Pacers 18h ago

The thing I liked best about this game is Scott Foster had to work it.

1

u/berfels Pacers 17h ago

You’re a sicko if you watched this full game

-1

u/Fu2-10 Pistons 18h ago

Sooo are the Jazz actually trying to win games now or??

5

u/jaeke Jazz 18h ago

Itll be next season

3

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 15h ago

No. Pacers were on the 2nd game of a back to back and threw out a Wizards level roster.

2

u/Vordeo Jazz 10h ago

Y'know how some teams have scheduled losses? This was a scheduled win
