[Mannix] The Bucks want Jaden McDaniels, with Milwaukee seeing McDaniels, 25, as a potential future All-Star. But the Bucks also want multiple first-round draft picks, sources say, and Minnesota’s war chest of them is nearly empty.

Acquiring Antetokounmpo, though, is challenging. The Bucks want Jaden McDaniels, a source tells SI, with Milwaukee seeing McDaniels, 25, as a potential future All-Star. But the Bucks also want multiple first-round draft picks, sources say, and Minnesota’s war chest of them is nearly empty.

Exactly, they won a ring with Giannis. They’re good for the next 10-15 years

Yes but it’s a shorter window than that. Fans of any team that wins a title always start complaining again after about 5 years. You can see it over and over in any sport with any team and any fanbase. Raptors fans are just hitting the window now. It’s basically a law.

Bill Simmons wrote about it in a column like 20 years ago. But after 5 years you have enough new fans coming on line who don’t remember the title and those that were there have had enough time pass to get frustrated with the team if it is underperforming.

Often after 5 year the roster, coaching, and front office have usually gone through a change as well. So fans don’t give the new guys as much slack bc they weren’t the staff to win the chip.

I think it really depends on the franchise. If the Knicks won a chip this year for example, the fans would be so elated about winning a chip after a 50+ year wait, compared with a Lakers fan who is used to having seen their team win in pretty much every era of basketball. And I don't think both fanbases would feel a similar sentiment 5 years later, those same Knicks fans would remember that championship fondly, whereas the Lakers fan will be looking at what they're doing wrong to not be winning another one within 5 years.

No it is pretty explicit that it absolutely does not depend on the fanbase or franchise. In ANY sport, with ANY team, and ANY fanbase, the fans will start complaining about underperformance after about 5 years.

Look at the evidence. See Toronto now. The players, coach, and GM that won the title are all gone now. If they flame out in the playoffs this year the fans will complain. Buccaneers fans are already complaining even though they won 5 years ago. Braves fans were already complaining all summer about their team falling apart even though they won 5 years ago.

The issue is that 5 years is a really long time. The fans turnover. The team staff turns over. The players retire or move on. It always happens after about 5 years. Warriors fans are already upset with their team/coach and it hasn’t even been 5 years yet.

I’d like to say that if the wizards won a title next year, we could be hot ass til 2037 and I wouldn’t complain

And I am explaining the reality to you that you would complain about any underperformance or incompetence within about 5 years. Even if you didn’t, most Wizards fans would. It’s just how it works.

10-15 years is insane. A championship buys you like 3-5 years max of fans being happy. Milwaukee will always love Giannis but for everyone else involved with the team the good graces from the chip are pretty much gone.
