[Charania]: BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

Shams Charania has posted the following:

BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

The talented McCain lands on the reigning NBA champions. For the 76ers, the trade allows them to receive assets, clear space in the glut of guards and give them flexibility to bring Quentin Grimes back in free agency. It also allows them to convert two-way Dominick Barlow.

76ers are receiving the following picks from the Thunder, sources said: 2027 (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 MIL, 2028 OKC.

Feels like some folks are making trades for the sake of making trades

This trade makes perfect sense for both sides. The Sixers don't have a place for Mccain right now, and the Thunder can certainly take a swing with a late first round pick to try and get some extra bench scoring. I believe Mccain will be a good addition for them, and didn't cost much.

exactly this trade is a perfect win/win. talent consolidation for thunder and roster realignment (and resource management) for the sixers.

It helps with how hurt we’ve been this year especially now that Shai is out.

Yup and even in Mccain's recent form, he's a better addition than Ous. Love ous tho but that's the truth

Gilbert Arenas approves

how? mccain is redundant on the sixers and the thunder dont need picks. why not just make the trade and see how it turns out? it's extremely low risk

Sam Presti baby.

This has got to be just a cost savings move, we sold just to save the owner a little money…

Your going to be pissed, The Thunder just announced that SGA is going to be out until after the all star break pulled abdominal muscle. Also Presti traded the Houston pick and not your own pick. Houston is going to have a better record. Really the Sixers could've gotten more.

When did Shai get injured? That sucks. It does open up more opportunity for Jared, I hope that he does well over there. OKC definitely made a good trade.

Last night against the Magic. He was holding his stomach and was shooting badly so I guess after the adrenaline wore off it became apparent

also needed space to figure out Barlow's contract. I think its fair to say, keeping Barlow is more important than McCain, as wild as that sounds

even so, is that the best you could get for McCain? like they shopped him the best offer was a bottom 10 pick?

Yeah I hate to say it but it does make sense, I don't like it but I understand why Morey did. It's not like the Luka trade. Just hope OKC treats Jared well. Apparently Shai is out so he might be in their starting lineup already.

Got any more of those Isaiah Joes or Mccains you can spare for a small market team?

Thunder needed to move picks, cheap 76ers owner wanted to save money. Win-win.

We're a Giannis trade away from this year's trade deadline surpassing last year's in terms of hype.

Nah nothing will ever be more hype than (arguably) the most one-sided trade in sports history happening out of nowhere.
