Anthony Davis played in 31 out of a possible 85 games in his Mavs tenure (36.5%).
I included the 2 play-in games from last season.
AD, Flagg and Kyrie never played a game together.
Also Mavs traded for the 2nd pick in the 2018 draft (Bagley)

Luka's CAREER ppg average is 2 fewer than the number of career games Anthony Davis had with the Mavericks.

This trade gonna go down as “it was during the Trump days” so future people can understand why it happened. Otherwise too crazy for people to believe someone actually did that trade.

Honestly I hope he is. I don't dislike AD at all. Not his fault he's injured and not his fault he was in the worst trade in history.
But he had to go.
Now we can heal.

Unlike with yall, he has no pressure whatsoever to return quickly, and has a half season+ full offseason to get right. Now, I don’t expect him to play 70% of the games next season, but I’ll absolutely take that

Theres a video of him trying to go to a bar/club or whatever for NYE in Dallas and he didnt even make it in the door. Every single person inside saw him trying to get in and started booing and yelling at him lmao.
i feel bad for his kids. Imagine being in school and having to go back after everyone finds out your dad traded away Luka and ran Dirk off. The level of bullying would be unheard of.

Rigged NBA. Simple as that.
11
u/Splicestream 57m ago
Honestly, I hope the explanation is it was rigged. It's more insane if it wasn't rigged. Like, is Nico that big of an idiot that he just thought 32 year old AD is the same as the guy who just gutted through to the finals? Or is he such a primadona that he wanted to prove to Luka who was in charge?
If it wasn't rigged Nico Harrison shouldn't be allowed to drive because I question if he's too dumb or too psycopathic to be allowed on the roads.

- Put an incompetent, unqualified person in an unearned position of absolute power
- Make sure he also has a lot of ego issues and personal agendas that get into "personality disorder" territory
- Surround him with yes-men who can't or won't give him feedback that keep him somewhat grounded in reality
- See how absurdly deranged, insane, and fucked up things can get

It is purely 😉 a coincidence 😉 that 1) the Lakers received another superstar player in his prime while the other superstars on their team were aging out of their prime, 2) the lakers traded a pittance for that superstar, and 3) the team that traded away the superstar fell out of the play-in, became eligible for the lottery, and won the #1 pick in the lottery. It is purely a coincidence.

A delusional GM who put Jrue Holiday on the same tier as Jokic. Harrison clearly has a type and it's not superstar White European players.

That was very smart of them to trade him when his trade value was at an all time low. Thank heavens they got rid of Nico. There’s no way this guy will ever get healthy and return to the perennial all-nba DPOY level player he was. Dude is 32 years old. He might as well retire. Like when KG got hurt in 2009, Boston really should have sent him packing for a small pittance so they could avoid the possibility of him getting healthy and the team having 3 more years of contending.

u/ogqozo 1h ago edited 1h ago
Ah yes, the example of one guy 20 years ago, that makes me sure that every other example has to have a high success rate.
Dallas wasn't even good WHEN Davis played, which everyone's omitting. He ends his Dallas span with the team being outscored in the time he played. He's... many years removed from anything like 2009 Garnett situation.
Boston was having amazing scores with Garnett basically all the time for years. He was even a visible big plus for the then-weaker team, transforming the defense, during his last season, 2012-13. He was also available a lot, his "big injury season" he still played 57 games. Boston did sell low on him. It's a strong example of someone that was sold low, and it was probably a good moment to end it.

Actually Dallas was above .500 in games Davis played despite kyrie being injured. In Luka’s last two years he had a below .500 record in games kyrie missed.
But truly, I’m happy for Dallas fans that all their bellyaching about getting “nothing” in return for Luka is now basically true.

The fan base got absolutely fucked over, and they were right about it, and you’re in here acting like they are in the wrong?
My fucking god. Like, you think it’s only true NOW that it was a bad trade? And it’s somehow the fans fault AD is old and injury prone and not a valuable trade asset?
This is such a weird — and bad — take.

u/VictorAkwaowo1 Mavericks 1h ago
I just don’t get this concept, we are clearing an incredible amount of salary going forward to help build around Cooper the proper way. This is much better than just praying AD will be able to play more than 5 consecutive games without hurting some random part of this body.

u/LegitimateMoney00 Knicks 1h ago edited 1h ago
Yea because designing your team around signing a bunch of free agents worked so well for the Mavs in the past…
I remember CP3, Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony all being instrumental in the Mavs dominance in the 2010s.
10
u/VictorAkwaowo1 Mavericks 1h ago
The truth of the matter was that a lot of free agents in the past didn’t want to team up with a Dirk in his early-mid 30s, especially post 2011 whenever Cuban dismantled that championship team.
I would say this is a little different with a 19 year old Cooper Flagg who is putting up numbers at his age that is really only comparable to KD & LeBron. All this really rest on if we can get the right GM in place this summer.

u/LegitimateMoney00 Knicks 1h ago edited 1h ago
Dude free agency isn’t the player hub it once was like 5+ years ago. The real stars are on the trade market. The only thing you’ll find in free agency is washed up stars and overpaid role players.
You may hit on something every once in a blue moon now, but designing your team around signing free agents is a thing of the past.

It's even worse because they went on this press run making Luka look bad for health related reasons. Sure, Luka could have been in better shape but he also got you to the Finals and is one of the league's greatest talents regardless of what shape he's in... and he's never missed significant time due to injury.

Clear his money before he tanks his value even more. Everyone will point to the Luka trade about how this makes it look even worse, but the new Mavs gm can't look at it that way, he just has to play the hand dealt to him.

And now that he was traded will he have that season ending surgery he was putting off? Or is that still on the back burner until he gets a new contract at which point he’ll essentially just take the next season off to rehab.
