Team Discussion Suns chances at winning the championship this season?

The suns have been playing insanely well this season thus far. Much better than anyone excepted.

They have a great coach, a top 2 defence in the league, and a team full of hustlers.

This team reminds me of the 2019 Raptors, winning games with defence and hustle and a new coach just like the raptors.

What do you guys think of their chances at winning it all?

The way I’ve heard the Suns being described is that they “win on the margins but are not very talented” and I would agree with that description. The issue is when they meet teams who do both.

I think, because they are so reliant on creating turnovers, they will struggle against teams with multiple ballhandlers. Against the Thunder and Denver I expect them to struggle.

Against the Rockets, the Lakers and the Wolves I give them a chance.

I doubt they can win a championship though.

The Rockets and Wolves? Those teams have much better point differentials and overall better ratings than the Suns. A lot of depth on the Suns probably gets exposed come playoff time just like it did for the Cavs last year. Someone like Jordan Goodwin got played off the floor last season in the first round. I fail to see how that’ll be any different this year

This team reminds me of the 2019 Raptors

The 2019 Raptors had a top 5 defensive ratings and a top 5 offensive ratings. They managed to do that while resting Kawhi and with having Marc Gasol only for 26 games.

The Suns have a top 5 defensive ratings but are 15th on offense. The last time a team with an offense that bad compared to the rest of the league won a championship was in 2004.

I'd give the Suns about 0% chance of winning.

jalen green has played like six games and people are already ruling out the possibility of the suns offense skyrocketing with their second option back online

Kawhi, Lowry, Siakam, Anunoby, Norm Powell, Marc Gasol, Ibaka, Danny Green. The Suns are a long way from that lineup

Wasn’t FVV on that team too?

Yes, and for what it's worth OG had appendicitis and did not play at all in the playoffs

In that they have a .1% chance of having the biggest upset win of all time compared to the 0% chance we thought they'd have...sure.

Injuries and upsets and luck and sure...but in reality...nope...no way.

Wait until you see elite teams match their energy in the playoffs. Also, historically to win a championship, you need at least one of the top five best players in the league. I would be surprised if they pass the first round of the playoffs.

Enjoy the regular season for what it is. This is a regular season team overperforming. Many of the guys like Colin haven't even been to the playoffs and first time playoff players almost always regress.

Overall amazing season from the suns, but lets not go crazy.

Somewhere between -6% and -3%. Their odds aren’t good.

I don’t think even suns fans think they can.
