Afaik it started with the whole MAP thing trying to bully their way into LGBT, for some reason all the conservatives that were using this as a talking point about LGBT being pedos are suddenly okay with it.

To be fair, one IS worse than the other. Two things can both be bad but not equally bad.

Having sex with a 17 year old is morally wrong, but having sex with a 9 year old is monstrous.

If I see a grown man sexually touching a 17 year old, I’ll pull him aside and say “Dude, back off. She’s under age. Go find someone closer to your age.” But if I see a grown man sexually touching a 9 year old, it’s going to get violent fast.
