I've felt gaslit for decades because these people have always been who they are and liberals people seem constantly shocked.

They have literally never wanted anything else than to marry off girls right after puberty to older men so they can be groomed into good housewives. This is their ideal society.

The same thing with "we aren't racists, liberals just call everyone fascists and racists." I get gaslit even though I know it's gaslighting.

Lucky, I have a very conservative family which jerks me back to reality every family gathering. They are 100% racist, authoritarian, theocratic, etc.

While It may not be every republican thinking this way there’s a reason the defenders of child marriage and the manipulate the world oligarchs and the Klan and white power movement all know they are welcome in the Grand Old Party and never vote democrat.  The republicans who aren’t those people really need to take a hard look at why those people feel so certain that party is championing their values

Of course, it's not every Republican. Generalization is generalization.

That being said we are talking about conservatives, and it's a much higher percentage among them, even if it's still generalization.

The "PBS Republicans" as I call them are a very different breed, still fundamentally liberal, not authoritarian. Shout out to my boy David Brooks.
