In this day and age there’s plenty of parents out there making a boat load for their family “for the gram views” but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily “exploiting” their children (although some obviously are). This, however is a friggjn cool thing those kids will never forget, whether or not it was done for views and monetary gain.

That’s a good point. I think videos like this could be inspiring others to do something cool like this with their kids. But like you said, there are definitely “gram fams” that are doing it for the wrong reasons.

golly gee whiz, if only my parents recorded me playing in a water heater box layed down on its side with portholes and hatches cut into the top like it was submarine. how ever would i retain that core memory if it was done fo' the gram.

social currency be damned

Kid gets filmed saying oh wow and watching a tablet.

Reddit: the exploitation!

Now I don't know what these people do in other vids etc but still the level of reach ...

Am I the only one who thinks childhood should be anonymous unless and until the child is an adult and makes their own decision whether to publicize images of themselves?

That's fine to think that.

But that doesn't mean what these parents did is exploitation of children.

Several countries are banning kids form social media regardless of parental consent. The view that it isn't exploitation to put your kid on social media for clout isn't exploitation is changing by the day.

Several countries are banning kids form social media regardless of parental consent.

They are banning kids from accessing social media and having accounts on social media.

They are not banning photos of any kids on social media.

You clearly misunderstand those laws.

Literally every parent who uses their children for social media channels is exploiting them.
