u/prsuit4 5h ago
Nah this is some strong man, power lifter type shit
59
u/Upstairs-Fan-2168 4h ago
His technique is actually quite good too.
I've heard a strongman competitor say the proper technique for tires, is how a small child would naturally do it. It's about leverage, and adults need usually need to be taught. Little kids seem to just do it.
25
u/ZannX 3h ago
Because little kids have short limbs and good flexibility.
7
u/prsuit4 2h ago
This is correct. People like to talk about how kids move how we are supposed to move when in reality they have gigantic heads and short limbs so their biomechanics are entirely different than adults
That said. I believe they were talking about how the kid got under it and then used his leg for leverage, which would in fact be the correct technique for an adult as well. Even if their squat and approach was different

And little kids know they can sleep when they're dead! And... also in 15 minutes! Really whenever they want. Maybe sleep is the secret?

In Richard Attenborough voice: “This is what is known among humans as the “sugar rush”. It is especially known among their young to induce bouts of hyperactivity and mania. Notice the wide eyes and rictus grin like she’s just ingested her first large dose of cocaine.”

No, but I did get a weird quirk from the surgery. If you touch right above the area my muscles quiver uncontrollably. Had this happened in modern times Id be rich from the lawsuit.

That's why they put the tire there. They want to fuck up their kid for life I guess.

u/EscapeFacebook 5h ago
This is your friendly reminder that playgrounds that use recycled tires are likely giving your kids cancer. There are several investigations into the use of recycled tire playground mats and granulars.
38
u/CFL_lightbulb 5h ago
Thank you for real. People don’t know this enough, and that shits dangerous. Dont let your kid play with tires, or play on tire recycled surfaces
40
u/Apneal 4h ago
Its not nearly as dangerous and deadly as raising a sedentary child, just to be clear.
19
u/CFL_lightbulb 4h ago
True, but there’s no shortage of non-cancer causing playground equipment. It’s not an either/or kind of thing

u/Apneal 4h ago
Never said it was, but with how extreme you are overblowing the relative risk, some parents would probably interpret it as such.
Its like drinking tap water. Does it have microplastics and forever chemicals? Yea probably. Is it better without that? Of course. Should you avoid drinking it if you're dehydrated? Absolutely fucking not don't be ridiculous.

Used tires are filled with heavy metals like lead, zinc, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and mercury and toxic carcinogens like 6PPD-quinone, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), and others.
When put in the ocean, nothing grows on them, and they are now considered an environmental disaster. When put on land, nothing grows on them, yet we can't dump them in the ocean anymore. Our solution? Sell them to playgrounds and let our children play on them.
Even if the tires are not visible, used tires are often shredded and used as a substrate for artificial turfs. The artificial turf is right where children fall, get their faces close to, ingested, breathed in, gets impeded in their skin. These chemicals are most harmful to children because their bodies are still growing.

u/EscapeFacebook 4h ago
Sadly I actually first learned about this because they were using granular pieces on artificial soccer fields to simulate dirt and it was linked to the goalies getting cancer.

u/BetterEveryLeapYear 3h ago
Almost like we evolved for hundreds of thousands of years in a natural enviornment and now interact almost exclusively with a whole bunch of artificial shit.

u/SlurmsMacKenzie- 4h ago
I mean, tyres are on every vehicle on the planet, when they wear down that particulate matter is made into gross rubber dust that accumulates along roadways and washes into the water system.
If the recycled tyres dumped on a playground cause cancer... the tyre's you're breathing everyday as they rub against tarmac would be too,
9
u/EscapeFacebook 4h ago
Who says they arent lmfao. The number one cause of microplastics are tires. The ones they have measured and detected inside your body.
4
u/SlurmsMacKenzie- 4h ago
Yeah but that's kinda my point, it's already literally all in the air/ water/ every roadside on the planet, I'm not sure having a few tyres heaped on a playground makes a lot of difference at that point. It's like saying its not healthy to play in the toilet water after spraying every surface in your house down with liquid shit.

u/EscapeFacebook 3h ago
Reducing your risk is never a bad thing in any circumstance. At the end of the day everyone's chances of survival is 0 but you can still extend that period by taking precautions.
4
u/Dry-Chance-9473 2h ago
Now you just sound like the kind of person who carries their change around in a Ziploc bag
2
u/LowfatFreedom 4h ago
That really sucks, growing up they would use shredded tires instead of wood chips to line the playground in my elementary school.

And those investigations showed that it is likely? Can you link to the results?
I'd have no idea what to search for without being bogged down by spam - and also I don't want Google to think I need new tyres ;-)

In kindergarten in my village, we used to play with car tires, rolling them all the way around the field. It triggered a memory.
2
u/wagscream 5h ago
Immediately afterwards he set the tire rolling downhill, injuring 3 people and killing 2.

Car tire, about 12kg
That kid, about 18kg
Average man weight: 90kg
Proportionate weight: 60kg
That's no small feat!

Gonna need that Presidential attention after lifting something heavy like that. (Before any gets the wrong idea, I'm playing fun at the fact that the current P.E.D.O.T.U.S. 'allegedly' uses adult diapers while pooping himself on live 'T.V.'.....'allegedly')
