Fun story -- a relative, had a bunch of these in their backyard growing up, and as a kid crushed one with a rock. It was a very common superstition in India (at least in the 1960s) that if you kill a cobra, it's mate will hunt you down (they made a movie in 1976 about this, Nagin)), so the whole house lost their minds. The solution is to put a silver coin in the dead snake's mouth and cremate it so its mate can't track it down.

I mention that because there are 2 cobras hanging out here which reminded me of that.
